We had the wine tour in november with a small group (3 persons). Our guide was Laura and she was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We visited the Salgari winery which served delicious wines with bread and home-made olive oil and some cheese. It is a small winery so you get to know the family and their house. We really recommend this tour!

Our guide (Ilaria) picked us up in Verona at the established meeting point and we set off into the region of Valpolicella for our tour. We passed a lot of big wineries along the way - Masi, Cesari, Tommasi, etc. Ilaria is very knowledgeable having studied viticulture and enology, and she is from the area. We stopped at the Vogadori winery for tastings and learned about the corvina and corvinone grapes, and how they are used to make Valpolicella, Ripasso and Amarone. We made a pit stop in the village of San Giorgio, it is beautiful. Our last stop was lunch at a restaurant, it included 5 courses and wine pairings, it was fantastic! Unfortunately, I forget the name of the restaurant. Grazie Ilaria!

We had a really wonderful time on this tour with the incredibly knowledgeable guide Laura. Not only did we love the tour but Laura went above and beyond when we asked for dinner recommendations in Verona and she kindly wrote us a list of her favourites. She also gave us a great series of recommendations for visiting Lake Garda.

Thanks for a great wine tour and lovely time in Verona. Great value for money!

We enjoyed a half day "Cheese, Salami and Amarone Tour" with Laura from Pagus Wine Tours today. Laura gave us a great and very personal insight into the wines and other culinary delicacies of the Valpolicella region. Absolutely recommendable! Thanks a lot!

My wife and I are wine lovers and decided to book the Pagus tour out of Verona. We were met by our host and another couple at the appointed meeting time in Verona. Sophia, our host and tour guide was very knowledgeable and spoke excellent English. Ask for her if you go!

We visited two wineries. Interestingly, in such a male dominated culture, both wineries were run by women. The first was run by two sisters and the second by the daughter and her cousin.

The first winery (Benazzoli), near Lake Garda, produces both red and white wine. Their signature red is a Valpolicella, which is a light to medium bodied wine produced in the Bardolino appellation. They also produce an Amarone in a sister winery in the Valpolicella appellation.

The second winery (Coali) is in the Valpolicella appellation, so they produce both Valpolicella and Amarone. Until this trip, I did not know how Amarone was produced, as I have only tasted it once or twice. With Amarone, they pick select clusters very early and put the grapes on drying racks. The lack of sugar at picking is more than made up as the grapes dry for up it 3 months, essentially turning them into plump raisins. The resulting wine is dense, very dark, intense and complex.

We ended up shipping wine from both wineries home!!

HI, this is Sofia! Thank you so much for this incredible review! It seems you've learned a lot on this tour... but most of all we had some really good time together! GRAZIE MILLE!
Have a look to our web site and check our new wine and food tours: i'm sure you can discover new wines the next time you'll be back in Verona area ;D
In the meanwhile, keep on drinking good Amarone ;D

Ciao,
Sofia

We have done many wine tours throughout Italy and elsewhere. We thoroughly enjoyed this tour! We had a lovely drive through the countryside of the Valpolicella and stopped in a very small, and very beautiful little hilltop town for a breathtaking view of the region. We stopped only at one producer which allowed us to spend quality time there, learning more about all the wines of Volpolicella and how they are produced. We tasted different Volpolicella wines and even Amarone and Ricioto. The relationships with small producers in the area make this a very special experience.

While on a short visit to Verona i decided to take the half day Valpolicella wine tour.Tickets have to be purchased from the Pagus Wine Tour Office close to the Castelvecchio.
When i went there to purchase the ticket I was greeted by one of their staff - Angelica . She was very friendly, professional and had a great personality. The meeting point for the tour was in front of the Castelvecchio @ 14.00 . There i was met by Lara. She too was very professional and friendly and had a world of knowledge about wine from the Valpolicella region. On route we stopped off at San Giorgio di Valpolicella where we visited the Romanesque parish church-Our guide has also an extensive knowledge about the history of the region
We then visited Stefano Accordini Wines where we were given a full tour of the winery and a full description about how the wines are produced-This was followed by a tasting of 4 of their wines with cheese and salami
With any company its the staff that are the key and i think that Angelica and Lara are a credit to Pagus tours and made it a very enjoyable experience

We went on the Soave and Amarone tour, which took us about four hours. We were lucky enough to have the driver/guide Laura all to ourselves. She’s full of knowledge and great spirit! Did a great job, and provided many tips for the rest of our stay. We visited the winery T•E•S•S•A•R•Y and Fasoli Gino. Tours on both winerys by employers. Good wine and food tasting. Recommended!

First of all, how lucky we were to book our tour in the office and experience the wonderfull and super friendly assistance in the Pagus office!! The half day Amarone tour was brilliant! Our guide Laura was fantastic. An extremely nice person. The trip was a highlight. Beautifull scenery travelling to the wineries. The wineries Salvaterra and Accordini are wonderfull estates, very scenic and both offering great hospitallity. Top wines to taste. A lasting memorie of our holliday. Would rate Pagus 6 stars if that was possible!

My 30 something daughters and I booked this tour not really knowing what to expect. It was much better than we even imagined. We went to two wineries and had an amazing lunch at Lake Garda. We ended the day in a picturesque winery in The Valpolicella region. Laura was darling and knowledgeable and her English Was perfect. I would highly recommend! Thank you for a wonderful day.
