Albergo Trento is about the only reasonably priced centrally located hotel I could find in Verona during the opera season. It's in a good location about 6 minutes walk from the main square and amphitheatre and 10 minutes to the train station in the other direction. The room was adequate if rather spartan and had a good a/c. The staff were fairly helpful and gave me some good restaurant recommendations including La Greppia off Via Mazzini.

We spent two wonderful days in Verona toward the end of our three week vacation to Italy in October. Arrived by train a short walk to Hotel Trento. Trento is in a great location. Just a easy walk to the old town. The lady running Trento was just wonderful. She was a fine example of what the people of Italy are like. Her rooms were very clean and cozy. Breakfast was just enough to get you going to visit this wonderful city.Get out and get lost in Verona, you can't go wrong.

We stayed in Hotel Trento in August 2002 after the Central Reservations Agency in Verona booked a room for us at short notice. Due to the hot weather it was important for us to have a room with a balcony and air-conditioning. The room was in the 3rd floor of the hotel (lift exists). It was clean, cool, quiet, and practical, including a small bathroom with shower and a small balcony facing into a backyard.
Breakfast was simple, but good. We thought the hotel provided very good money for value, esp. during the opera season. It also was extremely convenient for going to town and the arena. We have decided to go back this year.

This hotel is on the main drag between the station and the old city, about 400 yards from each. We didn't book early enough to get an en suite - it was Opera season - so we had to make do with a decent bathroom on the corridor (shared with one other room). The hotel has a small elevator and a breakfast room in the lobby. We had breakfast included in a very reasonable rate (booked through Verona's hotelier's association). The rooms are airconditioned. The Signora in charge during the day takes her hotel seriously and does a friendly professional job. She also makes serious coffee for breakfast (not that watery stuff that many Italians imagine tourists prefer). Our only complaint: the beds in our room were past their prime.
