Description: You may fall upon Trattoria Da Fiore restaurant in Venice with cries of delight not only is it a charming, laid-back trattoria run by a native Venetian family, it is also incredibly affordable for this high-ticket city. Near Piazza San Marco, too, so its perfect for every kind of tourist or business noshing. A small, historic, charming spot with a separate space for those who wish to just nibble cichetti and drink a glass of wine, Trattoria Da Fiore has the beamed ceilings, warm plastered walls and dark wood seating and white table linens all typical of Venetian eateries. The menu is Italian and Sergio and his two children pay particular attention to the choice of wines. The house specialty is pennette da Fiore for two with olive oil, garlic and seven seasonal vegetables, though some swear by the zuppa di pesce alla chef brimming with just about everything that swims, perhaps followed by sgroppino al limone to finish. Youll find Trattoria Da Fiore full of both tourists and locals, and something of a triumph.

Had dinner here with my family. Very professional service, in the good old-fashioned way. Good food, my daughter was over the moon with her lemon risotto...

“Great steak and gluten free food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 25, 2013

As a newly diagnosed coeliac, I visited Venice armed with the names of a couple of restaurants recommended by other gluten intolerant travellers.

It took us the best part of two hours to find the restaurant - not that we minded particularly - we were able to explore the narrow passages and take in the atmosphere on the way round. By the time we'd found the restaurant, we had certainly worked up an appetite!
After explaining my dietary requirements to the restaurateur, she was more than accommodating, pointing out suitable items on the menu. She was also excited to say that she had been working on a gluten free menu, and was keen to know what I thought about it. I felt extremely welcome and well looked after.

It seems traditional in Italy to serve complimentary breadsticks whilst waiting for a meal. Knowing I couldn't eat them, the lady popped out to the local shops to get some gluten free nibbles for us. I was really touched that they were going to so much effort!

The food was delicious - we had steak and veg - but it was the hospitality and the lengths they went to to accommodate that really made the experience special.

“interesting bar, expensive restaurant”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2013

it was our second time there in several years. Our first experience was of a few glasses of wine outside with locals and some cichetti which were very good, while waiting for a concert in a nearby church. Good atmosphere, quite relaxed. The second time we went, we experienced the restaurant were you actually had no locals, the wine was twice more expensive than at the bar. Good quality food but awfull price/quality ratio in the restaurant, wines are way too expensive (maybe due to the proximity of St Marco). I would definitely not recommend the restaurant as Venice as many more interesting places, the bar is much more interesting and convenient, mainly if you want to have a short snack or even dine with cichetti (which is sometimes enough). By the way, there was no coordination between the bar and the restaurant for the reservation of tables, so beware. It happened to several people while we were there. My quote for value for money is actually a mix of the bar and the restaurant.

“Good local restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013

The place was packed, it's rather small, mostly by locals. The food was very good but nothing out of the ordinary. Lots of seafood (of course).
In summary an OK restaurant for an ordinary meal
