Description: You may fall upon Trattoria Da Fiore restaurant in Venice with cries of delight not only is it a charming, laid-back trattoria run by a native Venetian family, it is also incredibly affordable for this high-ticket city. Near Piazza San Marco, too, so its perfect for every kind of tourist or business noshing. A small, historic, charming spot with a separate space for those who wish to just nibble cichetti and drink a glass of wine, Trattoria Da Fiore has the beamed ceilings, warm plastered walls and dark wood seating and white table linens all typical of Venetian eateries. The menu is Italian and Sergio and his two children pay particular attention to the choice of wines. The house specialty is pennette da Fiore for two with olive oil, garlic and seven seasonal vegetables, though some swear by the zuppa di pesce alla chef brimming with just about everything that swims, perhaps followed by sgroppino al limone to finish. Youll find Trattoria Da Fiore full of both tourists and locals, and something of a triumph.

Our concierge recommended this charming little restaurant and we absolutely adored it! We sat at a little table outside in a busy and picturesque alleyway on a lovely warm night, and ordered the tasting menu with about five courses. Every single course was to die for, and we are not easy to please! This restaurant specializes in fresh seafood. They brought out an appetizer with about five or six kinds of seafood, some of which looked a little scary, but everything tasted fresh and delicious, even the sardines and anchovy, which we would never have ordered had we known. The homemade shellfish pasta was amazing, but the piece de resistance was our entree of sea bass and vegetables... a simple, healthy preparation with amazingly fresh and inventive flavors. Service was great throughout and dessert was yummy - homemade tiramisu and pannacotta, both of which were lovely, especially the latter. We will be dreaming of this restaurant! It's a bit hard to find but well worth it.

We ate at this restaurant soley based on its looks; very quaint and varied menu. The service was excellent with a wide variety of wines to choose from. Fresh seafood offered as well as seafood specials. For those not craving seafood, there was a wide variety of choices. Overall, the experience and meal were great and would recommend this restaurant.

Apart from the usual menues, Da Fiore have two set 5 course menues, one called «Terra» and another called «Mare». We wanted red wine for once, after all the sea food you get in Venice, so we chose the terra, that apart from interesting content also seemed like a very good deal. All excellent courses, and they all arrived perfectly on time. Highly recommended!

We ate at Trattoria Da Fiore on our first night in Venice. We did not have a reservation, and the restaurant was quite busy. Even though they were able to seat us, I'd suggest booking a table in advance. The fish was very fresh, and the waitstaff present the selections on a platter before you order. I had the sea bass and vegetables, and my husband had the homemade pasta with spider crab. Both meals were very good and well portioned.

Da fiore was right near our hotel and as such we ate there quite a bit. The chiccetti (venetian tapas) are excellent, and the staff is hard working. Food in the main restaurant is Venetian style to the Max; you are truly eating the fruit of the lagoon.

Why should you go to da fiore? If you understand Italian regional quisine and want to eat Venetian food while in Venice. If you don't understand this concept, and you want pizza or a nice grilled serloin, then go elsewhere. But if you are adventurous, cultured, and like seafood, you can't go wrong with da fiore. I also highly reccommend bocadoro ristaurante, which I reviewed in a prior post.

Ciao, Nick
