“Great Stay in Superb Hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2013

We stayed in a superior room which was really luxurious, spacious and comfortable. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We had mentioned it was our wedding anniversary and found some chocolates in our room as a gift. Breakfasts were excellent with a wide variety of hot and cold dishes and fruit available. Plus the complimentary afternoon/evening refreshments including wine were very welcome. Although Venice was very hot and humid during our stay the hotel was always well air conditioned. We would highly recommend this hotel and hope to stay again.

We love staying here. The location is perfect. The rooms are spacious and the beds are some of the most comfortable beds we have ever had in a hotel. The breakfast is lovely with plenty of variety. As always, the service is impeccable and friendly.

Room Tip: Junior suites are wonderful with a delightful two story lay out.

We Spent 3 nights at the UNA Venezia.
My family of four arrived at the UNA hotel at 9am - blurry eyed from an all night flight. We were welcomed by the most wonderful, friendly , and welcoming Nera - who informed us that since they knew we were arriving early - they were able to prepare our room. Yes, we were able to check in at 9 am!
The Room
When we entered the room and it was clear that they were totally ready for a family of four - four of everything: Toothpaste and toothbrushes, bathrobes, slippers, tons of towels, toiletries of every kind (nail polish removing kit, soap, shampoo, conditioner, shower caps, sewing kits, makeup remover pads). The sofa bed was pulled down and made up for the kids.
The room was the Jr. Suite (room 203 I think) which was comprised of two rooms joined together by a single door. The rooms were very large . The first room appeared to be roughly 250 square feet in size and had a queen size sofa bed, chairs, a table, tv. and cd/stereo system. It also had double French doors which opened up onto a small balcony that looked over the canal.
The main bedroom (maybe around 300 square feet) had a "king size bed" (two twins together i think - but couldn't really tell), A sofa, chairs , table, desk, and ,wardrobe. We had four enormous windows - two which faced the canal and two which faced the courtyard/street (see photos). The Bathroom was off of this room
The Room was very clean and decorated in the Venetian style (lots of brocade!)
The Staff
Every single person we had contact with at the hotel was incredibly friendly and helpful. What is more, every single person made us feel welcome.

Location
The location could not be more perfect. After the insanity that is St. Mark's Square and most parts along the grand canal - it was such a relief to return to the serene quiet of the hotel. It is only a 3 minute walk to the Strada Nova - (a main street with lots of shopping and restaurants) - but for all intensive purposes it could be miles away - such is the quiet. It is only a 15 minute walk to St. Marks square ( a bit longer if you happen to get caught up in the logjam of people around St. Marks. Square).

Breakfast
The complimentary breakfast was very, very good. There were at least 4-5 choices of every item available - so 5 kinds of cheese, 5 kinds of juice, 4 kinds of meat, Several kinds of fresh fruit, a wide variety of pastries, several types of bread to make your own toast, 5 kinds of cereals, A BASKET OF GLUTEN FREE items!, a chafing dish of scrambled eggs, bacon, and some order hot breakfast meat, made to order espresso, cappuccino, hot chocolate etc.
Another plus was that breakfast was served from 7:30-11:00 am - so for those who want to sleep in........

Other Amenities:
Pillow menu where you can choose your type of pillow (goose down etc.)
Prosecco, wine, tea, and snacks available in the afternoon.
Air conditioning worked perfectly.
You can take a water taxi directly to the hotel.
Minibar and Fridge in Room
Turn Down Service

Things I would change.
There are only two things I would change. In our bathroom, the shower "door" was a partial piece of glass along one side of the bathtub - this was not adequate to contain the water of four people showering and the floor became dangerously wet.
As another reviewer noted, the breakfast space is quiet small - I think it can only seat 22/24 people at a time (and in fact there is a satellite table set up in the TV room during the morning). There were mornings when people came down for breakfast and couldn't be seated. I wish there was a way people could sit outside and I wish there was more seating.

I would highly recommend this hotel - but would also recommend that you splurge for the larger room and one with canal views.

Room Tip: Splurge - book the suite - you won't be disappointed.

Having stayed in Venice on the grand canal with all its busy traffic, we decided to chose the UNA Hotel Venezia for its peaceful location and we were not disappointed. The hotel is situated in a residential area just off the Strada Nova and is easy to locate.

We chose to travel from Marco Polo Airport by ATVO shuttle bus, buses run to the Piazzale Roma and cost 6 euro per person one way. We then took the vaporetto (water bus) No 1 Piazzale Roma–Ferrovia–Grand Canal (all stops) and got off at the Ca'D' Oro stop (7 euro)

On arrival we were greeted by a very efficient member of staff who pointed out all the main tourist sites and potential Venetian cultural experiences. We were informed a complimentary buffet (breakfast room area) was available from 2pm until 10pm and this was a welcome site for a bunch of weary travellers. The hotel does not have its own restaurant, this is not a problem as Venice has many to chose from.

Our room was spacious, clean and comfortable, with excellent air conditioning. A safe and mini bar is provided. The bathroom has all the usual complimentary toiletries. Having previously stayed with Hotel UNA in Florence we found our stay to be of equal high standard, if not higher.

When leaving for the airport, we were told by reception of alternative travelling options. Alilaguna ( www.alilaguna.com) a water ferryi stops at the Fondamente Nuove, on route to the Marco Polo airport. it cost 15 euro per person and was much easier than the our original travelling choices as it goes directly to the airport terminal. The ferry can stop at the Fondamente Nuove is a short walk from the hotel and they provide a map ans timetable.

Venice is wonderful, staying at the hotel UNA was the best choice for us in terms of location, comfort, price and service. Travelling with a teenager can be difficult at the best of times, however our experience at UNA Hotel made this bearable!

Venice isn't cheap. This was a good value for money.

Pros:
- extremely gracious helpful staff
- huge spread at breakfast and free Prosecco in afternoons!
- clean, pleasant room
- near Ca Doro stop on water bus but 2 blocks back from main road so quiet and picturesque

Cons:
- EXPENSIVE wifi
- not quite as much character as the palazzos on the grand canal but hundreds cheaper

We stayed at this hotel for a couple of nights and enjoyed it very much. The place is very quiet - it is a bit off main tourist paths in the residential area, but it is really a short walk from the main shopping street or water bus stop or anything you like. The executive room is spacious and clean and very nicely decorated, although if you choose a single plain room, prepare to feel tight. The breakfast area is quite small, so it may feel crowded at the rush hour. All in all it is very good concerning that Venice does not come cheap. :)

Such a lovely hotel, very Venice. Arrived late (around 10pm) Staff at reception were extremely helpful & friendly. Our room was absolutely beautiful, overlooked a nearby canal and was on a very quiet street. the hotel is situated in a quiet enough area to gaurantee a great nights sleep but not too far away from the action. A 20 minute walk (a lovely walk) takes you to Rialto bridge and then on to St Marks Square. My boyfriend was celebrating his birthday whilst we were there and the hotel left a nice card & cake in the room for him which we thought was extremely kind. We had breakfast in the room our first morning there, absolutely brilliant & only a 10euro room charge... very reasonable. The hotel also does a light buffet from 2pm until 10pm at no extra charge which is a really nice touch. Would thoroughly recommend and would definetley visit again if we were in Venice.
