My wife and I stayed at Casa Baseggio and we just loved staying there. First, Marco the owner was super friendly and helpful with advice on where to eat and wonderful and beautiful "secret" spots that are no that common among tourist. The room is large room with comfy bed, and spotless bathroom. Every morning we took breakfast in a lovely terrace overlooking a monastery.
The best part of this B&B is that is away from the tourist area, so at night it is very peaceful and you can really enjoy the beauty of Venice.
Thank you Marco.

Great!! Marco was extremely helpful and spent a good 10-15mins to go through each and every details of the room with us. It was big, clean, airy and absolutely well equipped. A whole stretch of restaurants were 5mins away and St Mark's Square was 15mins leisure walk away. Breakfast was either at the open terrace or you can choose to have it in the room. Location - it's about a 10-15mins walk from the vaporetto (water bus) station and you have to cross at least 4 bridges. Doesnt work well with big suitcases but if you're backpacking, go for this location. Totally worth it.

The B&B exceeded our expectations: large room, comfortabel bed, spotless clean room A tranquil place with no noise. Very good breakfast in the morning on the lovely terrace overlooking a monastery garden. Marco was very friendly and helpful with advice and he made reservations for us at some excellent restaurants. The area is very nice; calm but still within reach of shopping, ice creams parlours etc. You see tourists everywhere in Venezia but this is an area where you don't feel overwhelmed by the masses. It is a beautiful and interesting residential area. If you stay in this part of the town you are within easy reach of the airport. 30 min with the Vaporetto (boat). Our plane left early in the morning and we had no problems in getting there in time. 30 min with the vaporetto straight to Marco Polo airport. We would stay here again.

We stayed here for four nights in July 2012. We were in a ground floor apartment; with twin bedded room; dining/lounge; kitchenette & bathroom. Very traditional, therefore the rooms were a little dark. We were made very welcome by Marco & his family. Breakfast is served on a terrace just off the family kitchen; overlooking some beautiful gardens. A little off the beaten track, away from the tourist areas; though close enough to walk anywhere in Venice. Very comfortable; Free wifi; toiletries; towels were a little thin. Room too warm overnight - the aircon is located in the dining area & switched off (? limited timer). The place was overbooked for our 4th night, which made breakfast a little uncomfortable. However I would return & recommend the place. Venice is fantastic! so clean & contrary to what I thought it does not smell! A visit to Murano & Burano by water taxi is a MUST! If you don't go, you'll miss one of the best parts of a visit to Venice.

We loved staying here. The breakfast on the patio was really nice. The location was away from the hustle & bustle of the tourist areas, still close enough that we could get wherever we needed to easily.

My husband and I recently stayed at Casa Baseggio. We rented the junior suite, which is on the ground floor. The bed was firm and comfortable, the room was very spacious and included a living room, kitchen, and good size bathroom with jacuzzi tub (did not use tub). The water pressure in the shower was great and plenty of hot water. No washcloths are provided, so bring your own if you want one. I have found many places in Europe don't provide them so I travel with my own. Room was cleaned daily.

When I saw the photos of the suite on-line I thought the room would be very bright in the early morning (we like it dark) as there appeared to be only half curtains. There are also curtains to pull over those, as well as metal shutters on the windows to darken the room. We never needed to use the AC as there was a great breeze if you open the window in the bathroom and the bedroom and there was good cross ventilation. There is a safe in the junior suite (not sure about the other rooms). The bathroom has only 1 electrical outlet and it is for shavers only. There is a nice hair dryer provided but you have to use it in the living room. I also had to use my curling iron in the living room but there was a small table with a lamp on it where I plugged it into. You would need to bring your own mirror if you need it to curl your hair.

Had some trouble joining the wifi network with my ipad. Finally got in the second day after many tries. Also found that the signal was best in the living room but not the bedroom. Sometimes it lost signal.

Breakfast is served each morning in Marco and Allessandra's private living quarters so you need to knock on their door in the morning. If the weather is nice (which it was) you will be seated in the small outdoor patio (when the weather is bad you will take the food back to your room on a tray). Breakfast includes croissants, rolls, lovely lemon cookies, cream cheese, jams, honey, 2 kinds of cereal, yogurt, 2 juices, coffee, and tea. Marco makes a great cup of coffee. Tell him which size pot you want and he makes it individually.

Marco and Alessandra are gracious hosts with lots of useful information. It was great to be away from the tourist area. We found ourselves looking forward to less crowds and quiet streets when we returned each afternoon. No need to eat in the tourist areas. There are many great restaurants on Fondamente Nuove with views of the lagoon and many restaurants one block over from the B&B on Fondamente de Misercordia.

Since we stayed here following a cruise we were able to meet Marco the day before we were to check in. The best tip he gave us for hauling our luggage was to take the vaporetto line 4.1,4.2, 5.1,or 5.2 (Also seen this listed as 41,42,51, 52...check it out as the ones that end with 1 go in a counter clockwise direction). Using this route(which takes you out to the lagoon) you will only have to cross 1 bridge (coming from Ca 'd Oro stop there are 3-4 bridges and more people to deal with).....most all bridges have steps and difficult to manage luggage if it's heavy (travel light). We ended up taking a water taxi to the airport because of the difficulty of the luggage and a 10 am flight. It cost us 110 Euros but was worth it. Marco arranged it for us and we only had to walk about a half block from his B&B to a stop on the canal where we were picked up. Free luggage carts at the dock when you get to the airport...don't get a porter!

Room Tip: Junior suite is located on the ground floor and is next to the front entry door. You will hear peopl...

I found this B&B from a local site sent to me by another B&B owner in Venice. We stayed for 3 nights this June and are already thinking about when we can visit Italy (and Venice) again. Marco was particularly helpful even before we arrived. He recommended a nearby restaurant (Osteria L'Orto dei Mori) and recommended we book in advance since we were arriving on a Saturday. Contrary to one reviewer, our meal here was amazing and topped all that we had in Venice. The B&B website has an excellent map and directions for how to reach them (I recommend printing both : ) Marco also gave us instructions to call when we arrived - he was out of town that day on business but his wife Alessandra was there to meet us. She gave us a map marked with recommended restaurants in the area and was very helpful and gracious.

We loved the Cannaregio neighborhood - in Venice nothing is particularly far away from anything else and this is just a few minutes walk from one main shopping street and several lovely piazzas, restaurants and the old Jewish Ghetto. It was lovely to walk and catch a vaporetto to San Marco, main museums, churches and other parts of Venice during the day, come back for a nap/or rest at midday then have dinner nearby in the evening. It's amazing how quickly the busy tourist-packed areas (while fun) can wear one out and how often we returned to this and other quiet areas to enjoy Venice as locals might.

Breakfast was perfect (croissants, yogurt, cereal, juice and the BEST coffee I've ever had.) If the weather was too wet or cold to eat on the lovely terrace then it was brought to our room which was also nice. Just outside the two upstairs rooms is a small hallway with a shelf of local guidebooks and novels in different languages - this was a nice touch and we made use of one or two. Our room upstairs was lovely and comfortable. Keep the shutters closed during the day means the room is cooler when you return. We did not need any air-conditioning even though some days were quite humid. Having a table-top fan might have been nice one hot night but all that walking means you'll sleep well regardless!

The only thing I might do differently would be to stay longer and to take the time to ask Marco and his wife for more suggestions of places to see, etc. I noticed that one reviewer complained about not being given information on how to find a post office, etc. up front. A few sheets or binder with some of this information, such as the wifi name and code would be nice to have in the rooms but again, one can always ask. B&B's are different from hotels and often go out of their way to offer help, particularly when asked. All are unique - this and their charm is part of why we've always liked them.

Room Tip: I would recommend booking directly with Marco via email. Sites like Booking.com may work well for l...
