What a great find! Tiny little restaurant that serves lovely food in a relaxed and friendly setting. The pasta courses were the best we ate in Venice, and the sliced rare steak on a bed of arugula with Parmesan shavings was wonderful. The simplicity of the food and the few ingredients showed the quality of the product and the expertise in which it had been prepared. Which after all is what Italian food is all about. And these people knew exactly what to do. Wish I could back for lunch tomorrow.

Wow we found this place on trip advisor and with such a high rating expected a little " attitude". Not at all! Very friendly place, very helpful and professional servers. And the food is simple, fresh and excellent. We will go back!

Very small (room for about 25) people, very intimate for a couple to have dinner. Food is very fresh and the menu changes often (nightly?) They have a great wine selection with fairly reasonable prices (for Venice). The pastas were very fresh as was the fish. The location in Academmia keeps you away from the San Marco crowds, but make reservations as the place fills very quickly. It was so good, that we actually ate here twice during our week in Venice!

The concierge of our hotel phoned the restaurant for us, warning that Ai Artisti is tiny and usually fully booked months in advance. Hoeray! They could take the two of us at 7 pm! it's nestled in a lively area behind Ca' Rezzonico and Campo San Barnaba with one of the best mask shops next door, where we were welcome to browse before Artisti opened its doors. (Supposedly they created the masks worn in Eyes Wide Shut). We were offered a lovely Prosecco from the house before ordering, and given a limoncello before departing, now that is what I call true hospitality, which we repaid with a generous tip. We shared the light deep-fried boned sardines, miniscule unpeeled shrimp to be eaten whole and the luscious soft-shelled crabs, one of the world's great delicacies and a specialty of Venice. I followed this antipasti with the St. Pierre fish filet with fresh artichoke (another specialty of Venice, to my delight), some runner beans and potato slices, my dining partner with the pasta scampi and small violet artichokes. Everything was perfectly seasoned and succulent. I tried a Veneto-Friuli white wine, the Ribolla Giallo, and it was to my liking. I finished with a crème brulée which seemed scented with orange. We enjoyed sitting close to neigboring tables which stimulated conversation between us. The service was perfect without being overbearing. reserve ahead of time and you will not be sorry. We spent €90 for 2 excluding the tip.
