Description: In the beautiful surroundings of restaurant Wildner's veranda you can enjoy some of the best traditional food in Venice, whilst being inebriated by the view of the lagoon. Restaurant Wildner was established in 1960 by the Fullin Family and it is visited by locals and tourists alike. Its comfortable and unhurried atmosphere is enhanced by the spectacular panoramic view of St Mark's Basin. Each day Luca Fullin selects the very best seasonal ingredients from Rialto market and from the network of suppliers we have spent a lifetime gathering. The ingredients are then prepared and cooked with care and simplicity, in order to make them shine thorugh a menu of traditional Venetian dishes. The menu is based mainly on fish and features classics like Baccala Mantecato, Sarde in Saor and Antipasto Misto, as well as a seasonal selection of dishes. The wines are all handpicked by Luca, who personally visits the vineyards to select the best natural wines, produced in small quantities and without the use of any artificial additives or chemicals. The restaurant is open all day, and is the perfect place to enjoy a truly Venetian dining experience, with the gondolas and the Island of San Giorgio as the most beautiful backdrop to a romantic dinner or a special occasion. Wildner is in the "Slow Food Chef Alliance". By using Slow Food Presidia in the menus, they support small scale local producers who use traditional methods and safeguard native breeds and local plant varieties.

What more can I add to the other good reviews only I loved this place. We wandered to it from San Marco, didn't know about it beforehand. Got a table no problem right at the front.

I enjoyed one of the best fillet steaks I've ever had and I've had a few.

I highly recommend Ristorante Wildner Pensione.

We tried this restaurant noticing that it had been added to the "Buona Accoglienza" association of restaurants numbering a dozen Venice establishments dedicated to providing high quality cuisine at fair prices. Of the group, the Wildner is not only the closest to piazza san marco but also boasts a view out over the lagoon, two features that should make this restaurant more highly rated as readers come to appreciate what this restaurant has to offer.
The fresh bread and high quality olive hit the spot as we decided what to order. My wife had the moeche, the local small crabs that are eaten whole. They are a seasonal specialty in Venice. She said they were exquisite. I had the turbot with a white sauce of tiny clams and asparagus. This dish was not only excellent. It sang! It was that good. We finished with tiramisu. We enjoyed the wine which was reasonably priced.
Having eaten at Alle Testiere, Antiche Carampane, A Beccafico, and Bistrot de Venise all in the same week, Wildner's is definitely of equal quality to these more highly rated choices. And given its location and view, readers should strongly consider dining here. Having visited Venice over 10 times in the last 20 years, this was our first visit here. We were blown away. We can't wait until we return.

We were sent here by Diane, the owner of Al Covo when we didn't have a reservation there and they were booked. It was an amazing recommendation! We went on Easter Sunday so the chef had a special tasting menu which my husband ordered from, it consisted of Easter pie, lamb rague, lamb done two ways and a dessert. I had the au gratin scallops (amazing!!) and artichoke and shellfish pasta. The wine and food were delicious! A must visit! And the price was very reasonable.

We went for the fixed price menu, I had lasagne for a starter, a wonderful mixed salad and french fries and a passable roast pork escalope. The location is good by the water's edge so you can watch the world go by on foot as well as in the sea whilst you wait for your meal. And you do have to wait - service is slow. The food quality is actually ok for the price, so i would give this 4 star rating for value for money.
