“very good B&B, strategic place”
Reviewed October 1, 2013

Nice room, very clean, in a quite area. People from the hotel are very kind. The place is easy to find and it is also easy to get to the center (Rialto bridge in 5-10 minutes), or to get to the islands Murano & Burano (visit highly recommended)

First thing the piccolo only has 4 rooms in a small street. People complaining about the noise of vaporettos etc on this page are actually talking about the main " guest house/hotel" by the fondamente not calle fumo.
The bedrooms were the size someone would expecting a busy touristic town with limited space to accomodate people. Small but with everything you need. The guest house is nice and clean and it's situation a stone throw from a main vaporetto stop is a real advantage. 10 mn walk from the rialto and in an area that has not been overtaken by the tourists traps it is a real pleasure to be walking straight into a very friendly area.
Forget the television and the wifi signal, there are there but the signals can be weak. Not a problem to us as the idea was to explore and communicate direct with people .....Beata and Matteo could not have been more welcoming.
We gave up on having breakfast there as the little room as sweet as it was for breakfast felt a little claustrophobic in comparison to the appeal and views of cafes around with a view on the laguna.
The position was perfect for us and what we wanted to do.

Room Tip: Just check wich one you ae booking into the piccolo is the guest house in the calle the other one is...

Even though it is not located in the heart of Venice (15 min walk from San Marco Sq) the vaporetto stop is very close and it takes you directly from and to the airport (which in Venice is very important so as not to walk with the lugagge through the small bridges). Also to murano and other directions.
Breakfast is simple but good quality. The bedroom was very well decorated, they changed towels everyday. It has got a small fridge.
Check in to be done in another hotel nearby.
Highly recommended

We loved this cute little Guest House and would recommend staying here!! Do not even consider staying in Mestre instead of Venice (trust me we were having this same debate when planning our trip), you won’t regret staying in Venice where you’re so close to everything! While admittedly most hotels in Venice are so expensive and the main reason why people end up at Mestre, this Guest House was really reasonably priced and such FANTASTIC value for money. The rooms (albeit small) were cosy, well appointed & very clean and the bed was comfortable & big. Even though it wasn’t the most spacious room, when you’re exploring Venice all day, you don’t need a massive room! The breakfast was simple but tasty and Beate (who manages the Hotel) is so friendly & lovely! It is close to a major water bus stop (Fondamente Nuove) which is SO convenient to get around. But you can easily walk to St. Mark’s Square in 15 minutes. While you’re not right in the centre of Venice, you’re not paying typical Venice Hotel prices yet it’s a decent hotel. A must stay.

We stayed here for 4 nights and the towels were never changed. The bathroom was far too small and when you came out of the shower you had to go into the bedroom to get dry. We had a room on the ground floor facing the front. Being opposite the water bus stop it was busy and noisy and we could not have the curtains open wide because of people standing in front of the window. So no view for us. I think they could have tea and coffee available during the day and not just breakfast. This small hotel would be fine for a one night stop over but no longer.

Good location, close to san Marco and Rialto: it's really easy to find cause when you collect the keys in the hotel (hotel vecellio, right in front of fondamenta nuove) they explain you how to get there (it takes about 3 minutes walking). The rooms are well decorated and clean, the staff lovely, kind and helpful :) If you look for a nice b&b to stay while enjoying Venice, il piccolo vecellio is definitely the right choice.

It was a little hard to find it, the address it not correct. You should get the exactly directions before you go. the room was very clean and wide. Good bathroom. The breakfast was very nice and the staff helpful and friendly. Very good location, 10min walking from piazza San Marco.
