After a long flight and trying to acclimate, staying at Ciprea (in a neighborhood setting) was a welcome relief. The home, room & bathroom were immaculate. The hosts were warm, friendly and very accomodating. We felt so at ease and they steered us in the right direction as far as restaurants and information. Would recommend to anyone!

I can only join the praise chorus of the previous reviews. The location is wonderful, hosts are magnificent, the room (we had one that's downstairs) is spacious and immaculately clean and cosy, breakfast is delicious, coffee is una favola))), cost is ridiculous for all the good things and magnificent atmosphere you'll get at this B&B. highly reccommended!

I had not wanted to come to Venice – it was my daughter’s choice – fearing the crowds. What a surprise Ciprea B&B was! The far end of Castello where it is located has none of the crowds of the more popular parts of Venice but all the charm, with sottoportegos, cobblestone streets, and laundry strung overhead. Two locally-frequented trattorias are just down the street, and on nearby Via Garibaldi a gelateria, bakery, markets, and a fruit and vegetable barge are just minutes away. Getting around was no problem; we walked or hopped on a vaporetto at the Giardini stop where Davide met us (with an umbrella – it was raining) to walk us to his B&B.

The bed and breakfast was as delightful as its neighbourhood. We were downstairs in the Astratta room. Never before have I had both wood beamed ceilings and enough electrical outlets to charge phones, camera batteries, and laptops for two. The room heater (doubling as an air conditioner in warm weather) was easy to use and efficient. We could turn it off while we were out during the day, and the room would be warm within minutes of our return. (We were visiting in April. Guests staying in winter might want to turn the heat down, rather than off, when leaving.) A flat screen TV and reliable WiFi completed the modern amenities.

The bathroom for the Astratta is private, but not attached. Like the room, it was sizeable and immaculately clean. Its enclosed shower had great pressure and a steady supply of hot water.

Breakfast is included in the very reasonable room rate and is typical Italian fare: fresh rolls with several toppings, cereals, and yoghurt. I’m not normally a coffee drinker, but I couldn’t resist Ciprea’s fresh coffee with steamed milk. With coffee like that, I can see why Italians breakfast the way they do. (A good selection of teas is also available.)

From the first e-mails, my communication with Davide was easy, warm, and efficient. Communication at breakfast was even easier and warmer, and equally efficient. (Both speak excellent English.) Ciprea and Davide answered our questions, refilled our cups, and pointed us toward the best gelato in Venice. Perfect hosts in a perfect B & B in a perfect neighbourhood in a city I hadn’t wanted to see. Chalk one up for my daughter.

Lovely stay in Venice, the Ciprea B&B is in a quiet residential location in Castello which is great to escape the crowds in the centre of Venice. Davide & Ciprea were very welcoming hosts and gave advice on restaurants and vaporetto's etc. The room was clean and well equipped and breakfast of yoghurts, bread and jams was fresh and filling. The street is very quiet and the bed comfy so we had a good nights sleep each day after a tiring day of sightseeing. Davide had sent directions of how to get to the B&B and had offered to meet us at the vaporetto stop but we found it quite easily using a google map of the area, it was less than a 5 minute walk from the Giardini stop - no bridges with steps to go over either! If you are looking for a great value place to stay with friendly hosts then this is it! Lovely local pizzeria just round the corner for fab pasta and pizza - Trattoria dai Tosi.

As a value-conscious young family who is obsessed with safety, cleanliness and comfort, we enjoyed our stay at the Ciprea B&B tremendously. Ciprea and her beautiful family made our trip one of the most memorable ones, and we are appreciative of their wonderful hospitality.

* LOCATION -- Travelling with our 3-year old son we were initially concerned that on paper they seem a bit far from the tourist attractions, but that proved to be a non-issue. Venice, in general, is a very walkable city and the Ciprea B&B is literally 2 minutes away from the pier (some ferries go to San Marco in a short scenic ride, adjacent to those are ones that go to the islands).

Also importantly, their home is situated right in the residential area next to the park (the only one in Venice) and a short walk away from the supermarket, local meat/seafood/vegetable shops (including a vegan one), a friendly neighborhood trattoria (we had 3 meals at Trattoria Tosi and were consistently the only non-Venetians), 2 wine bars that opened late (we never went but again saw only locals), plus a gelateria.

It was also crucial for us that the neighborhood is safe and that was certainly the case, since we went home past-10pm on several nights and felt perfectly safe.

To sum it up, you get to stay at a lovely Venetian home in a residential neighborhood that is far less polluted by tourists ("real Venetian people live here" as said by the neighborhood gelateria owner) + none of the noise, dirt, and occasional shady characters we saw in some of the high tourist traffic areas.

* ROOM -- We booked the upstairs room and it was exactly as seen in photos. Our son typically sleeps 8 hours a night but at Ciprea B&B he easily did 10+ hours every day which, of course, is a luxury for his dear parents. The bathroom was in good condition as per other travellers' photos and hot water was always available.

Our room also had 1 table, 2 chairs, a big cupboard for hanging clothes, free wi-fi, and a small TV. The beds are clean and tidy, and the room airy with excellent heat; saw a new style airconditioner as well which we didn't need to use.

* PEOPLE -- Last but not least, Ciprea and Davide were gracious hosts, very friendly but not intrusive. In some ways we were lucky that their other room was not occupied during our low-season stay and so they were less busy, but nonetheless they were generous with spending the time with us and making sure we felt welcomed.

As one of many examples of their thoughtfulness, they quietly left some small toys in our room for our son after our arrival, and also packed some bread and homemade cookies (which our son participated in decorating) on the morning of our departure. We even learned a few cooking tips over breakfast from them and got a few sightseeing recommendations during our weeklong stay.

Both Ciprea and Davide have good command of English so communication was not a problem for us. Ciprea B&B is the ideal place for those who are interested in leisurely experiencing the genuine Venetian way of living.

* PRICE -- Excellent value for money. At 30-50% of what local name-brand hotels cost, this saved us money for food, shopping and sightseeing.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Ciprea B&B. The rooms were really nicely presented, clean and in a great position, away from the main tourist areas but within easy walking distance – I think it took us 10 minutes to get to St Marks Sq. Davide the owner is very helpful and came to meet us when we arrived at the vaparetto stop despite the fact that our flight was severely delayed and we kept having to change our time of arrival. There was a great restaurant just around the corner which seemed to be frequented by a lot of locals rather than just tourists. If we go back to Venice, I would have no hesitation in booking the Ciprea again.

Stayed one night in Venice while on a whirlwind tour of Eastern Europe. Amazing price (90 euro for one night for three adults). Air conditioning (SO important for Venice in August), Wi-Fi, simple breakfast, very clean accomodations and very pleasant owner! Nice to be in costello, a short walk to San Marco, but also out of the hustle and bustle (you will want this, especially in peak tourist season). Also much more authentic resturants in this area, than in the tourist-trap-ish San Marco.
