“A rare gem amongst the tourist crap!”

I proposed to my fiancé over a gorgeous meal and great wine at this wonderful restaurant. We spent far too many days getting ripped off in lots of so called restaurants in this beautiful city and it was a blessing to enjoy a fantastic meal! Yes, it probably cost over €100 BUT who's counting when the food and drink is good? The fact that some people are whining about money when they've travelled from all over the world and spent a small fortune anyway is embarrassing. We will be coming back, hopefully to get married!

“Did not live up to the reviews”
Reviewed March 27, 2013

We booked here for our first night in Venice after reading the many positive reviews on Tripadviser but we were disappointed. The food was ok but no more than that, and the menu options were very much geared to traditional venetian recipes, some of which did not sound too appetising. I echo the earlier reviewer's comment about the sommelier - he suggested a 110 euro wine to us which we declined - the 60 euro wine we did choose was very good but the waiter poured the dregs into my wife's glass. We shared a cheese board which was just a few triangles of Italian hard cheese with little effort made. Whereas some people might like very attentive waiters we felt the service was a bit too fussy and you couldn't even pour the water yourself. While clearly many have enjoyed their dining experience here, we left feeling disappointed.

Buongiorno Cardiff
thank you for honest & personal report. We try to match pleasure and expectations of thousands people coming from all over the world: someone wish the pure tradition, some others wish a fussy service, someone else looks for budget restaurant but hope to enjoy an elegant candlelit dinner in Venice at a budget price, which is absolutely impossible!!! ...again, some couples want to celebrate wedding anniversary & birthday in a very special way... at the end we should have 10 kitchens and hundred waiters to provide all our Guests what they expect to receive!!!
It is not possible!!!
We are a mid-high class Restaurant - Enoteca with 7 cooks & 2 pastry chef, a very professional Staff Service, with 2 Head Sommelier, for a total of 65 seats in a pretty venetian style atmosphere.
For future Guests a warm invitation to pre-analyze their expectations and then book previously a table.
Thanks again to all tripadvisor followers.

“Try asking the waiters for recommended wine for each course”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

This restaurant was opposite our hotel, and seeing the good reviews on this site, we decided to give it a go. We hadn't reserved a table, but that wasn't a problem. We decided to have a meat dish straight away, but this didn't phase the waiters at all. While we waited for it they bought a little taster for us.

Rather than buy a bottle of wine for the whole meal, we decided to ask the waiter for a recommended wine for each course. So we ended up with different wines to match what we were eating. While we obviously enjoyed this, we got the impression that the waiter liked the challenge as well. A great way of ensuring the wine suits what we were eating.

The only down side of this place is that as you walk in to the bar area, it looks nothing like the experience you are going to have during the meal. I am sure some people would be put off by this area. Just remember the food and the service here is brilliant.

“Best restaurant of the trip to Venice”
Reviewed March 25, 2013

I booked this restaurant a good two months before our trip to Venice. We took a boat taxi to it to make the experience memorable and it worked. The staff is friendly from the first minute and the service is outstanding. The sommalier was a bit over - he did want to sell us a bottle of red whine for 400 euro's - a bit shooting over the top - I am sure that the whine would have been nice but... We settled for a less expansive whine. The food was the best one we had - after three nights of not so good food then our experience of Italian food was good. This is a special place - you will have to pay some money for the service and food but I think you would be happy - it's a special place.
