“Amazing seafood”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 11, 2014 via mobile

This is a tiny place tucked away and we found it in a Food and Wine Magazine article. Very nice service and the seafood is perfect and fresh and simply prepared. The wines by the glass are excellent and very reasonably priced, they complement the seafood perfectly.

“Italian cuisine of the highest art”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 6, 2014

We read about Alle Testiere in a New York Times article on how to "do" Venice in 3 days and booked on the Internet 2 weeks before our visit.
Got a reply within 24 hours, gave my credit card details and got a confirmed table for 4 on Valentine's Day. Just as well. The restaurant is tiny (24 capacity) and was full to bursting. The welcome was super, the food glorious and the ambiance special. Owned by very knowledgeable and personable locals who took the time to interact with their customers, this is a real "boutique" place. They have their own house wine (a non-sparkling Prosecco (!) - perfect as an aperitif. The owner had excellent personal knowledge of all their wine offerings but since the NYT had
suggested the white Orto from Sant' Erasmo we decided to try it - great choice!! All the food was fresh (local catch) and beautifully cooked and
presented. An Asian honeymoon couple on the table adjacent to ours took pictures of their plates - works of culinary art! It was not inexpensive however, €280 for 4 with two courses each and with only two desserts and coffee - oh - and the wine..... But what a lovely way to spend Valentines Day lunch...... But don't forget to reserve!

“A good restaurant”

Inventive, well presented, fresh, expertly cooked.
A little rushed if you opt for the first 7.00pm seating.
Prices a little high but we would go back.

“You need to be a seafood lover”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 22, 2014

I felt like a big deal for getting one of the reservations for this place (24 seats total, 2 seatings per night) and had really high expectations. In summary, the quality is very high, but I don't know that I would go out of my way to eat here unless I was the world'd biggest lover of seafood.

Very gracious hosts, very nice wine list. Shared the steamed seafood antipasti- mantis shrimps were fun, seafood salad was excellent, and the baccala was really good with bread.

Wife ordered spaghetti with clams- it looked exactly how you would expect, but it honestly was very average. Nothing wrong with it, but not blow your socks off.

I ordered the grilled calamari and they were very tasty- again, very good quality, but not amazing.

I wouldn't visit again, but would recommend highly to seafood fanatics.
