“Mix of tourists and locals”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 28, 2013

Food was pretty good and reasonably priced. Waiters can be a little bit pushy to tourists for upselling but not in an annoying way. Ambience was vibrant and seemed to have many local regulars.

“Very good meal, great local atmosphere”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 26, 2013

The restaurant is tucked away adjacent to a small bridge over a little canal. It's not too large inside, and as we left there was quite a line to get in. The meals were good, the house wine also good. My daughter had a dish with black cuttlefish sauce while I had liver and onions. My liver and onions was not bad, just nothing special. My daughter's dish was good, but a little too salty. The appetizers and deserts were the high points. Prices were fair for Venice, especially considering the location. Seating was family style.

“Delicious food and excellent service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2013

We went here based ona gondolier's reccomendation and thought it was great . They were really accomodating too as they knew we were catching a boat soon and needed a quick meal. It was so good we came back . The tiramisu was also fantastic. Great service and very italian!

“An old favourite, but I think this was our last visit :-(”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 21, 2013

We have been going to this restaurant on and off for about 10 years. It's nothing fancy, but the food is basic and good, great place for lunch where more often or not the table next to you will be full of gondoliers having lunch. The waiters have been there for years, and we continue to see the same faces every time we go there. They are masters of what they do, and make you feel like a local. We speak italian, but have watched other tables who don't laughing with them, taking their suggestions etc, which is why our experience there a couple of weeks ago was so upsetting. We went for dinner, had 2 pasta dishes, 1 fish, 1 meat, asked for a half litre of local wine which we have had there before.......but this time was told they didn't do jugs, and we had to have a bottle. We conceded as we just wanted to have a nice eve, no desert, and 1 coffee. Our bill came to €100 dead on, there was no breakdown on the bill of what cost what, but the most expensive dish we had was €14, so I was at a loss to understand why it came to so much! It turns out our wine was over €30 euros for the bottle, and what makes it worse was halfway through our meal a large group of locals arrived, were seated and promptly given JUGS OF LOCAL WINE !!! The waiters here are fantastic characters, it's one of the reasons we've gone back year after year, but they also use their cheekiness to bump up your bill. I felt totally ripped off, especially as a returning customer. You certainly don't go back time and again for the food, but it's a place I've thought of fondly over the years. I'm pretty sure that was my last visit to them

“Our best meal in Venice!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013 via mobile

Recommended by our B&B so decided to go straight there for lunch upon arrival. The place was packed with a group of Italians waiting for a table - always a good sign. When we got our table, we were given a menu in 4 languages (including English and Japanese) which was useful for us. We ordered two pasta dishes (seafood and crab meat in creamy tomato sauce) and shared a mixed seafood dish. Wow, the pasta dishes were perfectly done al dente and tasted heavenly. Also enjoyed the fresh fried squid, tiny fish and prawns. There was nothing left on our plates. We then ordered tiramisu and coffee. Tiramisu was nicely chilled and delicious. Really loved the food and cosy atmosphere and prices were reasonable. Our best meal in Venice and we only wished we could have gone there again before we left. Do yourself a favour, and check this place out.
