“Cheap & good Pizza”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2013

If you have enough from the touristy side of venice, this place is a good alternative: it's cheap, the pizza is good and you can sit in a lovely garden outside. If you don't mind a menu only in italian and waitresses with punky outfits, you can have a very relaxed evening. Housewine was okay, service was quick. And they didn't charge a coperta for our kid.

“CHARMING PLACE”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

Not the finest cuisine and quite noisy, but what a lovely courtyard and quick service - as usual in Venice,
Food was good too, the children had excellent pizzas and we had pasta. Unfortunately no vongole available and very little gamberi in my pasta plate, but it tasted good and prices were reasonable, especially considering the location.

“Very disappointing”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 28, 2013

This was a repeat visit for us. We remembered a very enjoyable and reasonable salad/pizza dinner in the courtyard in 2006. So when we arrived hot, tired, and starving in July 2013, we thought “why don’t we go to that cute little pizza place with the courtyard?”
What a disappointment! I can honestly say this was the worst meal we had on our 3 week European vacation this summer. The staff was beyond indifferent or even rude. I can only describe them as surly. They made us feel like we were a huge imposition by showing up to dinner. We were kept waiting for a long time—they seemed to delight in it, our table was small and we had to use a book to even out the table legs. We ordered caprese salad and marguerita pizza. How on earth could they mess that up? Well, the tomatoes were reminiscent of the tomatoes we call “cardboard tomatoes” here in North America between January and April. The boccocini was rubbery, like a very poor quality cheese you might get at a budget discount grocery. There was a slight sprinkling of dried basil (yes dried) with olive oil and vinegar on the side. The pizza was soggy and tasted like cardboard. My husband was lucky he ordered a beer, which they didn’t seem to be able to mess up, but I ordered a ¼ litre of house wine, which had an unpleasant salty flavour, it was undrinkable. I don’t expect a lot from house wine, but in Italy I have been pleasantly surprised in some establishments. With the coperto for a couple of dry breadsticks, the bill came to Euro 30.
The only good thing was, we found a nice place on the way home for a gelato and that saved the evening.
Interestingly, this place was recommended by our hotel last time, but I noticed the next day, they no longer have Nono’s card at the front desk.
Not recommended.

“Best Pizza in Venice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 26, 2013

Had seen this recommended by a few journalists although I'd seen some negative feedback we went for dinner. We both had a pizza and shared a litre of Prosecco and it was excellent value for money. The service was really good we just got there in time as the place was packed. The Prosecco was good value for the money and the garden outside area is very pleasant, informal and laid back. Just what we needed after walking round Venice all day. The food that was coming out to other tables looked good not Michelin star just good hearty fresh Italian food. Best Pizza in Venice.

“Nice garden setting for a pizza, but for a proper dinner go elsewhere”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013

Venice doesn't have many courtyards available to the public so if that's what you want, this restaurant will do, but only for a pizza, some drinks, and low expectations. But, if you want a nice dinner with some antipasti, nice mains and a touch of class, AVOID. Our experience was particularly bad. Our antipasto plate was more plate than food, and I've never seen grilled vegetables done so badly. In Italy, this is just unforgivable. We ordered fish for our mains - she got the fried frutti di mare (fruits of the sea - aka mixed seafood) and I got the seppia alla veneziana, which is a squid dish consisting also of a black squid ink sauce. Well, they were both so bad that we actually just decided to pay the bill and get out of there. I really should have refused to pay but I didn't want to make a scene and ruin one of our few precious nights in Venice. €60 down, we went elsewhere. We explained the situation to the waiter at the following restaurant. He asked where we had been, but we did not want to say. Then he guessed that we had been to Nono Risorto! I guess it wasn't the first time. Surprisingly, this was a recommendation from a Venetian friend who had been right on with her four other recommendations, so perhaps they were good once, but now are not. Anyway, the moral of the story is that your nights in venice are precious, so unless you are ready for a mediocre meal, try pretty much anywhere else.
