Was told by my brother that we HAD to go here as it is an "institution!" - Well, now we can say that we have been here! Seriously, we had TWO of the worlds SMALLEST Bellini's for 37Euro's. The atmosphere was neat - almost like you were inside of a cool boat. The staff were friendly and I am sure back in Hemingway's time it was a REALLy cool place to hangout. Again, I am glad we went, but we will not need to revisit Harry's when we return to Venice someday!

This place obviously trades on its history and reputation as the birthplace of the Bellini. The drinks were good, but expensive (18 euros per cocktail, or around 10 euros for a coffee). The Art Deco furniture is lovely but the rest of the decor is tired and there is no atmosphere at all - that was the most disappointing thing. The service is ok but nothing special. There's not as much attention to detail as I'd have liked for the price, either. The menus for example; they are just like those you'd find in any backstreet bar; I could have done a better job on my computer.

I think that everyone who takes the time to visit Harry's Bar wants it to be an exciting, meaningful experience. With its storied history, maybe we expect too much. What we find is quite different than the Harry's we've heard about. Waiters who are well-dressed, but unimpressively snobby. Hello, boys? We come from New York. We know attitude. We can appreciate attitude when it's merited. You are about to be unemployed because of yours. Good luck with finding another job with those people skills and your unemployment rate. And the ambiance? None. Nice bar (though smaller than expected), but the rest of the room looks like grandma's drab, yellowy, evenly lit dining room. The drinks were good. Yes. Liked the bellini, though a tad too sweet. Overpriced. But we expected that. We just expected to be getting a little more for our money. We won't be back because the hype is not enough to bring us back. And the real experience was something we didn't expect -- boring.

This has to be one of the most over rated places we have ever been to. When we arrived the staff looked us up and down and pointed to a table. The bar is clean but has no atmosphere whatsoever and the staff are quite rude and curt. Definitely NOT the Raffles of Venice!!! Do not bother going.

One of us had been very much looking forward to having a cocktail at the famous Harry's Bar in Venice. Sadly, it did not live up to expectations. Extremely overpriced drinks and food we were prepared for, but lackadaisical staff and a barman who did not know how to make a martini we weren't. The Bellini wasn't bad, however, and the bar itself atmospheric and snug.
We're going back to Venice, hopefully soon. We're not returning to Harry's Bar.
