Ai Tagliapietra is in a good location - a 10-minute walk from the dock at most, and just a short stroll to the Rialto, San Marcos / Doge's Palace, and interesting piazzas. BE SURE you take water bus 5.1 as Lorenzo says - we were herded onto 4.2, and they both go to San Zaccharia, but to different docks - and there are a number of docks at San Zaccharia. Because of this, Lorenzo was unable to find us, since we were not where we were supposed to be. Fortunately, there IS a Tourist office just off the 4.2 line dock, and the gentleman was able to show us on our map the short walk to the B&B.

Lorenzo was helpful and accommodating. He offered a number of suggestions for activities and dining (one place, Mamo's, gave us 10% off when we showed them his card and recommendation), and as we had to leave quite early on the morning of departure, prepared for us a "take-away" breakfast of juices and rolls since we would not be there for the scheduled breakfast time, 8:30-10am.

The building is safe and the rooms are behind three locked doors: one from the street, one to the floor, and the third to your room. They have the standard toilet, sink, bidet, and European shower - all clean and up-to-date. Our room in particular looked over the street and had both windows and shutters that could be used to close out the light and noise, if necessary. Venetian streets can be boisterous in the late evening, and the night before we left, we closed the shutters to get to bed early, and this effectively closed out any distracting street noise.

Sleep quality was good - the beds comfortable, clean, and well-presented.

The floor has 3 or 4 rooms which share a single kitchenette and three/four breakfast tables. Lorenzo makes available to his guests the refrigerator, tea, tea cups and saucers. He told us simply leave our cups in the sink and he washed them in the morning.

All in all, a good place to stay in Venice. Getting back to the airport that early was a concern at first, but there is a Blue Line Alilaguna bus (NOT run by the same system as the vaporettos) that left the dock as early as 3:44 am, so it was not a problem!

Room Tip: Ask for a room that overlooks the street unless complete quiet is important to you.

This was a great place to stay in Venice. Lorenzo, the host, went out of his way to make sure we had a fabulous trip. Venice is very easy to get lost in and waste time wandering, Lorenzo was able to recommend places to eat, things to do and places to visit to maximise our stay. He was also very accommodating in helping us book train tickets from Venice to Lake Garda. The accommodation is cosy, clean and breakfast is a great start to the day. The B&B is superbly located within walking distance of all the main attractions in Venice. Lorenzo also gives excellent advice and directions from the airport and comes to collect you from the Water Taxi - 5 mins to the B&B. We would definitely go back here again! Thanks Lorenzo!

We stayed here for two nights in June, we could not have had a better stay and could not fault this beautiful B&B. Lorenzo is a very attentive host, from meeting us at the waterbus stop, to suggesting the best restaurants and gelaterias, and a delicious breakfast in the morning. The room is a good size, comfortable, clean and nicely decorated. Would definitely recommend this B&B for anyone looking for the real venice with a less touristy, personal touch and making it feel like home. It is a great location, short walk to St Mark's square and the Rialto Bridge. Nothing is too much trouble for Lorenzo, he even packed us a breakfast to take away as we left very early in the morning and printed our boarding passes for us.

Our party of 4 people truly enjoyed our visit to Venice!! Lorenzo the owner is SO friendly, helpful and kind. He makes you whatever you choose to drink in the morning and provides great pastries! The rooms were nicely sized, clean and comfortable. The price is also great, you can pay a lot of a place to stay in Venice, but here you get just as nice of a room, it's small so a more cozy feel and a great location. It's a few minute walk to all the central sights. We highly recommend booking this B&B!!

We stayed with Lorenzo in May for our honeymoon. The B & B is in a great location. Right by San Marco Piazza yet removed from the large touristy areas. Lorenzo was a wonderful host. He met us at the water bus station, helped with our luggage then showed us everything on a map. He knows the good restaurants to go to that are not "touristy" and delicious, authentic Italian cuisine-trust his suggestions! He also gave us great suggestions and instructions on how to get to Murano and Burano (definitely go to Burano if you can-it is so wonderful with brightly painted buildings!).

The room was extremely spacious, the largest we stayed in during our European trip.

There was some flooding during our stay, Lorenzo taught us about the sirens and when we should come back to avoid walking through the flooded streets. He greeted us every morning with delicious coffee and fresh pastries. He really makes the trip so special. Also, everyone at the B&B was very friendly and we enjoyed chatting with them in the morning.

It was a very relaxing location. Extremely clean, with a large room and big bathroom. We enjoyed our stay and its close proximity to everything!

All round excellent B & B in Venice. Lorenzo is a lovely person and showed us all the good eating spots which were all spot on. The room and ensuite were clean and the largest we staying at in all of Italy. Fresh croissants each morning and great conversations with Lorenzo and the other guests. This accomodation must be one of the best value for location, price and service. Would definately stay here next time we visit Venice. Thanks Lorenzo for a great stay.
