I had booked this hotel through SLH and must admit to being a little apprehensive after reading some of the reviews on Tripadvisor. I had nearly cancelled! But I am now glad I didn't as we had a wonderful stay.
The entrance of the hotel was not grand but the reception staff made us feel very welcomed. We were shown to our bedroom, which was just fabulous; it was spacious and overlooked the Grand Canal. The salon on the first floor was superb but the breakfast rooms were fantastic. The ceilings of these breakfast rooms were just amazing. Breakfast had a good selection of cold and hot food and drinks to order. Again, service at breakfast and generally during our stay was excellent.
This hotel is in an excellent location, which is near all the attractions. There are some excellent restaurants around this part of Venice. We would definitely stay here again.

We arrived via a private water taxi (a bit flash, but 1st year anniversary and we wanted to celebrate in style), and as we turned onto the Grand Canal we sailed slowly up to the Hotel's waterside entrance. From the moment we arrived the service was impeccable. We were given a complimentary glass of Prosecco and sat down for a wonderful lunch on the Hotel's Grand Canal restaurant - which as the name suggests, is on the Grand Canal.
Our room was beautiful and you could step outside and view the canal. You felt like royalty. It was the sort of hotel that (& I did actually hear from a couple of tourists) people walk by and say - 'wow, what a great hotel'.
You must, must, must venture upstairs. The hotel was once a palace and allows the public (free for guests) to wander the rooms and see the fresco's. We will definitely stay here should we ever return to Venice and we would recommend to anybody who asked. The staff were polite, respectful, discreet, efficient and very customer focused. I cannot say a bad word. If you are going - enjoy.

Arrived by water taxi and straight into the reception area where you immediately you think: "I have arrived!" The hotel itself is not large but is a beautifully restored palazzo. I went during May and it wasn't massively busy - which is a good thing. Considering its convenient location, the hotel was peaceful and we didn't have to wait at all for anything. The staff were attentive and polite, providing good recommendations of places to dine and visit (and to avoid). So instead of spending many euros for breakfast in the hotel, we had breakfast at one of the little cafes which served deep-filled sandwiches with good strong coffee. Anyway, our bedroom was on the top floor. It was a standard room but it was surprisingly large, with a balcony and skylights. Well equipped with a TV that was never watched and a cavernous bathroom. I think some of the decor appeared a bit shabby in places - but for me that added to the appeal. The hotel had a real typical Venetian quality about it. Perfect (and romantic too).

Room Tip: Our top floor room with the balcony and skylights was fantastic!

We really loved our four-day stay at this hotel. Of course, the view from our room of the Grand Canal was simply wonderful, and really added to the enjoyment of our time in Venice. The room was very comfortable and had all the amenities we needed. We really enjoyed the turndown treats (trays of chocolates, boxes of sweets) and other special touches. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, particularly the reception and restaurant (breakfast) personnel, who we interacted with quite a bit. Also worth mentioning are the sumptuous interiors of the hotel, and it's great location within a short distance of many of the main sights. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Splash out for a grand canal room if you can.

We stayed in this hotel for 2 nights on a bed and breakfast basis. The room was amazing, we just had the standard room which didn't have a canal view. We were disappointed that we didn't have a view at first, however the canal is quite noisy so I think this was a blessing in disguise. Even though the room was a standard room it was still very spacious and the bathroom was amazing with a massive double shower.

Breakfast was fantastic, it was Buffett style with plenty of selection including champagne if that's what you fancy included in the price. The coffee was the Nicest i have ever had. The breakfast room was stunning. The lady who served at breakfast was lovely where nothing was too much trouble.

The public rooms are so nice, it is like staying in a museum, however the room was very nice and not dated at all. It was the biggest bed I have ever seen.

The location was perfect, it was about 5 minutes walk to Rialto bridge, and about 15 minutes to st marks square which is well sign posted.

On the last day we had a lovely drink sat on the decking of the hotel overlooking the canal which was very nice, as there was lots of hustle and bustle on the canal but it was so relaxing.

The only down side was that the mini bar was very expensive, however we just went to the mini marked just down from the hotel which was very cheep.

The hardest decision about the whole trip I found was how to get from the airport to the hotel. I looked at every option in detail and decided to book a shared water taxi with a company called Venice link which was only about £80 return for the two of us which is good value and the best way to travel to the hotel. Even though we were supposed to share the taxi with another couple we had the boat to ourselves both ways. One thing to bare in mind is that the dock is about 10 minutes walk from the airport, however it is flat and also under cover most of the way.

I have seen on here that some people think that the hotel isn't value for money, however my belief is that you get what you pay for and it was worth every penny. We didn't eat in the resteraunt as it was expensive however there were so many places to eat within 5 minute walk it was great.

One thing to bare in mind for disabled people is that most of the bridges have steps. As you get near st marks square most have ramps going over them but this hotel could be difficult for disabled people for this reason.

We will be back!!!!

We absolutely loved this hotel, from the moment we arrived at the hotels private landing stage until the evening we left we could not fault it!The staff were very friendly and welcoming, especially the breakfast staff.

I would definitely recommend this hotel for a romantic stay and include the private speed boat transfers- they just top it off! Just walking around the public rooms took our breath away, the art work and original features were amazing.

If you don't want to spend lots on a Gondola ride then you can experience a different kind of Gondola experience using the hotel's boat service across to the other side of the canal( not quite the same as a romantic ride for two but still a fun experience!), joining all the locals across the the other side where the market stalls are.

The Rialto Bridge is just a 10 minute stroll away and St Marks Square just 15mins. You will pass some juice stall outside called 'Frulala'- a must if you want a refreshing drink. We had the freshly made hot Sangria and it was delicious, just liked mulled wine but better! The heat lamps around the bar and smell of the spices drew us in as it was a cold winters day. It was a welcomed break after strolling around the city all day taking in the sights.

Room Tip: I would definitely recommend upgrading to a Junior Suite with canal view. The room we had (room 107...

We stayed here to celebrate a birthday having previously stayed at the Gritti Palace. This place is fabulous. Attentive staff, beautiful room, great breakfast and good location. Would definitely recommend and we will be coming back for sure.
