“Gorgeous Hotel!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2012

First trip to Venice, and this hotel did not fail to impress. It has kept its Venetian decor, staff were friendly and helpful with tourists staying with them. The hotel is in a great location, right on the Grand Canal.

Room Tip: Our room was on the side of the hotel, the same side as the side entrance. It was quiet, but I'm...

My daughter and I stayed at hotel for four nights. Air con was a problem. The guest before had broken it. It took them four attempts (one a day) to mend it. They did give us a bottle of wine to apologise, but a bottle of wine does not equal air con working!! Also it's very difficult to know whether you are in a suite or upgraded room. We had a complimentary upgrade but its a very grey area as to whether we had it or not! Our room 407 was very nice, clean but no windows to view outside. If you have this room you will need crampons to scale the staircase to the terrace which has a side on view of the canal. Luckily weather was good so we were able to make use of this terrace, if not you're a bit stumped and could feel hemmed in. Desk staff seem very cagey to give room prices which makes one wonder. Overall it was an ok hotel. Decor stunning, staff typical Italian (not too many smiles) and Venice just a joke for prices. I reckon you can do this in 3/4 days. An experience in more ways than one!

Room Tip: Make sure you view room first, some rooms looked pokey when able to peek in as rooms being serviced

Dear Guest,

We would first like to thank you for your feedback which we always treasure to improve our standards. Please just let us add a couple of notes to your review.

We're very sorry with the problem with air conditioning screen control, unfortunately it was broken just before your arrival and it's been replaced as soon as we could. In any case the air conditioning was always working in the room and we could control any time you liked from the Front Desk.
As for the room, we upgraded you to one of our most requested suite beacuse is the only one with a private 'altana'- traditional venetian wooden terrace- that makes it an exclusive suite. We're sorry to hear you did not appreciate it. Unfortunately we couldn't give you the price of your room not beacuse we didn't want to but because it was booked through Citalia with which we agree confidential rates and we cannot know the price they applied to you. For your information direct bookings room rates are always visible on our web site.

We do hope to have the pleasure to welcome you back maybe to experience another of our beautiful suites! Please do no hesitate to contact us directly should you need any further information.

Thank you and Best Regards,
Ca' Sagredo Hotel

The ca'sagrado is a very nice hotel we pushed the boat out and stayed here for our anniversary. We got upgraded to a Junior Suite my husband put a request in and they did honour this, the room was very nice, it was like a duplex room had your own stairs (room 49) I can't really say much more about this hotel apart from it's in a good location to everything. The reason I can't comment is because we always ate outside for dinner & breakfast experiencing Venice we really just went back there to sleep. But overall good location. There is a Spa there to, however sorry can't comment never used it. Venice is very, very expensive!!!

Room Tip: We had room 49, which had it's own stairs and felt that you were away from things, not noisy at...

We really enjoyed this hotel in Venice. We have stayed in several more expensive hotels in Venice, but found this hotel on tripadvisor.com and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is close to everything and has a great old world Venice feel--very authentic. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I would recommend this hotel for travelers looking for very nice accommodations at a great price in Venice, Italy.

We booked this hotel as part of a package with BA flight from London. Agree with all the other reviews. Fantastic, magical, member of Small Luxury Hotel chain. It was renovated to a very high standard. Location is perfect, central but not too central. From airport, you have 3 options: bus then vaporetto (water bus) that stops outside hotel, private water taxi (very very expensive) or water bus (from a few locations, the closest is 10 min walk north of hotel). We did the first option upon arrival as it was heavily raining and dark at 11pm. We did the last option on the way back. Both were very simple to do. Buffet breakfast was very good. Prosecco/juice every morning is a nice way to start the day! The 2 breakfast rooms are next to the Music Room which is out of this world amazing. The hotel staff were very helpful, although sadly no special treats despite being our anniversary. They did arrange a free private water taxi to a glass making company on Murano as this is the company that provided all the glass candliers, etc in the hotel. Well it wasn't so free after you account for what we paid on a lovely glass dish (not at all any obligation to buy something but if you do buy something of high value make sure to negotiate as they start off very high). Free wifi always helpful. Have a drink on the terrace and watch the world go by.

This hotel is very special. From the magnificent interior to the welcoming staff this was something to be experienced. The hotel is a 16th century Palazzo of the Sagredo family, and has recently been restored to its former glory with marble staircases, carvings and frescoes being renovated sympathetically and expertly. The grand public rooms all have information stands which outline the history related to them and give a hint of past splendours such as the hidden doorways and secret passageways which the Sagredo family would use to avoid the prying eyes of their servants (particularly when using the hidden Casini which were sited secretly on a mezzanine level unseen from the main staircase).

Breakfast was served in the luxurious rooms between the Ballroom and the Music room, from which faint strains of opera could be heard. This created a wonderful ambiance, enhanced by the staff who were so friendly. In particular the lady in charge of breakfast was exceptional. This was no ordinary breakfast either, from Bucks Fizz (made with the best prosecco) to fruit juices and delicious hot meals, bakery items and delicious "grandma's cake" it couldn't be faulted.

We dined in the Hotel and the service, and the food was wonderful. The sommelier/head waiter was knowledgeable and informative and his advice was perfect.

The Concierge, too was helpful and reassuring and the porters were efficient. The Housekeeping staff were excellent.

The view from the room window was wonderful as the Campanile could be seen as could the Grande Canal.

The only little, tiny negative point was the rapidly flashing smoke alarm which kept me awake at night. I seemed to be able to see it flashing even with my eyes closed. When I mentioned it at Reception however I was told it was functioning normally and there was nothing that could be done. Perhaps Smoke Alarm manufacturers could take heed!

First time in Venice. Mid July probably not the best time but it has been a kind of "bucket list" item so we decided to make it a weekend at the start of a week at Lake Garda. See our review of the LeFay resort and Spa.

This is a very very special hotel (25 rooms or so) with a dining terrace overlooking the Grand Canal just across from the fish market and the most amazing breakfast room area you have ever seen. It is a Small Luxury Hotels of the World member and lives up to it's name. We approached it by water Taxi from the Airport which was an experience in itself. Taxi arranged through BA when we booked the flights and impeccable. Superb hotel and just charming and delightful staff who made every second there a pleasure.

This Hotel is really the only reason we would ever go back to Venice. I have seen other reviews and I cannot really improve on the plaudits it has received.
