“Nice hotel”
Reviewed February 5, 2014

All the hotels in venice looks strange from outside so don't make a judgement from exterior.
This is a super location and you are next to st marks square that's where everybody comes.. On line 1 of boat taxi so pretty convenient to go anywhere.
Very helpful staff and high spec rooms. Small though but all hotels are like this..
Narrow lanes and less space! Abundant water.
That's venice.
I recommend this hotel.

Hotel is a little difficult to locate. Follow the instructions of previous reviewer Carol. However turn right when you see the Armani store and turn right again into a courtyard to the hotel. Breakfast is good and room is clean. The only downside is wifi is very weak in the room. My room is 403.

Had the most perfect time in Venice and the hotel played a big part in this, the location was fantastic and the staff were so friendly and helpful! Stupidly we left our passports in the room safe but we had left our luggage there whilst we had a final look around and they had found them and put them in a envelope for when we picked up our luggage so it was happy days.

We arrived today with In hand a copy of Carols Instructions from October 2013.
This was such an easy way to get here but for those who may also be planning to use her instructions there is one alteration that needs to be changed.
When you get to the Armani store turn right not left and in about 15 meters there is a passageway leading into the courtyard.
When arriving at the airport tickets for the boat can be obtained at the boat if there is a long line at the ticket office within the airport. For this hotel get off at the Rialto stop as its a quicker trip than San Marco stop.
Hotel Al Codega was everything that I had read in other posts right down to location, breakfasts and friendly staff who helped us many times with directions etc during our stay.
Both our rooms were of a good size with wifi in them to help with future holiday plans. We had no issue with noise from the outside due to the inner facing rooms and the odd noise we heard on the outside of our rooms was no bother.
This hotel has the personalised touch that we didn't get from other hotels on our trip. We received hot croissants from the oven at our breakfast table and always asked if the breakfast was okay which I must say was wonderful to have after having to find our own at our other stops.
This is a family run business and these people care a great deal about your stay. We were so happy with our stay here that we were sorry to go and would not hesitate to recommend to anyone considering this hotel.
There is a good supermarket within a few minutes walk which helped us out for snacks etc. Front desk will help you out with directions.
For anyone thinking of being in Venice for New Year I would like to say that San Marco Square gets very crowded and we had a horrendous time getting back to the hotel as people were pushing in all directions leading to a massive crush trying to get through the small alleyways. Please seek advise from hotels if you wish to take kids to watch the fireworks as we had frantic parents around us trying to protect their young children. I suggest stand your ground until all fireworks in two places finish. The first ones over the water are small but come back to be amazing after the ones in San Marco Square.

Just returned from a 2 night break at this hotel.
We requested a quiet room and were given one over looking the courtyard. It was clean, comfortable and quiet.
Reception staff were very friendly and helpful. I also thought it strange to have to leave the key but I guess as they have access to your room anyway it makes to odds.
Breakfast exceeded my expectations as it included bacon, sausage and scrambled eggs which is unusual for European hotels. There were lots of other things, most standard breakfast items and a selection of sweeter cakes, biscuits and even tiramisu.
The top thing about this hotel though has to be the location. Right in the the middle between Rialto bridge and St Marks.
We also got a really good deal on booking.com of £220 which for a 4 star in such a good location was excellent.

We stayed here for 2 nights in December 2013. Great location (a short walk to/from St. Mark's Square and Rialto Bridge). The room was a decent size, though it was a bit dusty and we have a suspicion that it wasn't fully cleaned before our arrival. Breakfast is included and is fine--nothing special, but plenty of options (fruit salad, meats, some pastries, cereal, eggs). We disliked the staff's request that we leave our room key at the front desk when we were going out for the day. Overall, a decent value.

It took us a while to find the "do not disturb" sign, so for future travelers: it's a button on the thermostat.

We booked this hotel after reading reviews on TA about it and we were very happy with our choice. An ideal location, a few minutes walk from St Mark's Square and an easy walk from Rialto Bridge water bus stop. I asked the hotel to email me a map as I had read that it was difficult to find. The map they sent was a great help and we had no trouble locating the hotel in the quiet piazza. The hotel staff we dealt with were very helpful and informative about the sites to see and they suggested we purchase a 3 day pass for water transport which worked out to be a great idea. The room we had was very comfortable, plenty of storage room, lovely bathroom and very quiet. Breakfast was served in a small but adequate dining room with a good range of food. We would loved to have stayed longer than 3 nights.
