“Great B&B in Venice...”
Reviewed October 9, 2010

Stayed here for two nights. The B&B was a bit difficult to find, but once we arrived we were extremely pleased. The room was very spacious, which is an extreme rarity for the area. Mario & Gabriella, the B&B owners, were both extremely accommodating and friendly. Gabriella even left us a bottle of champagne as a gift on our second night. We would highly recommend this B&B. The price is very reasonable for Venice, the location was superb, and the service can simply not be beat.

The location is excellent, but the room is a little bit drabby, but clean and neat. They failed to wash our glasses once. The landlady's English is a little bit skimpy, but they were all very friendly.

We stayed at Zaguri B and B from September 21st through September 24th. The room was spacious by European standards and the staff was wonderful. Everyone went out of their way to help make the most of our stay. We loved the location, close to the Giglio stop and between St. Marks and the Rialto Bridge. We will stay there again the next time we are in Venice.

We were greeted by Mario (proprietor) with prosecco and nibbles and profuse apologies for his English - actually it was pretty good. We stayed 5 nights (room 4 - very spacious, very clean, firm bed. It's an internal room so view from window was a courtyard - advantage was that it was quiet at night). Substantial continental breakfast. Plenty of tourist info available and Alessandra, whose English is excellent, was available at breakfast to help and provide local knowledge.
Location was excellent - 10 mins from St Marks Sq, 10 mins to Rialto, 5 mins from vaporetto stop.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend Zaguri.

My spouse and I are very realistic, easy going travellers. Our expectations are pretty basic. We care about cleanliness, location, a private bathroom, non-smoking and a good breakfast. All of these expectations were met, if not exceeded. Mario D, the owner contacted me as soon as I made the reso. He gave us his number and asked when we would arrive. We let him know, and he was there waiting for us with snacks and bellini's when we arrived. Let me tell you, after the crowded vaporetto ride from Santa Lucia to Santa Maria Della Giglio, which is where the hotel is located (30 min), we were so happy to see that Bellini!
He was very welcoming and gave us a crash course on Venice, which was extremely helpful. The room was spotless! The bathroom was huge (even for North American standards). The breakfast was lovely and included Hard Boiled eggs, warm fresh baguette, Italian meats and creamy cheese. They made us cafe lattes each morning, which were great! The location is within the San Marco neighbourhood, right on a cute little canal. I don't like crowds so I may have to stay in the Arsenal or Carnreggio neighbourhood when I return to Venice. San Marco square is a 5 min walk, which means thousands of tourists near this B & B. It is also a 2 min walk from the Vaporetto station, which I mentioned above. I absolutely loved this B & B. One of the best you'll find in Venice. Very good value in such a popular location. STAY HERE!

Mario made us very welcome with cocktails and snacks on our arrival. The room was comfortable, quiet, and only a short walk to St Marks in one direction or to Accademia bridge in the other. A vaporetto stop(Giglio) & a traghetto are both conveniently close.
A little tricky to find,as the Zaguri has no obvious sign(;the name is on a 'residents' list by the door).but the location makes it worth seeking out.. My sons and I all agreed we would recommend it to friends & return here if we visited Venice again.

A 5 minute walk to San Marco Piazza. Incredible position, great room, friendly helpful service, good value - all round a brilliant place to create a base for exploring Venice. Beds were comfortable, the breakfast was somewhat utilitarian, but filling and plentiful. Hot showers. Clean room and bathroom. The area surrounding Zaguri is beautiful and easy to navigate - and close to a Vaporetto stop - around 30-40 minutes from the bus station. Really convenient and really lovely. Stay here!!
