“Beautiful rooms, spacious bathrooms, great location & staff!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 11, 2010

We absolutely loved our stay at the Palazzo Cendon. We were very happy with the courteous and helpful staff and loved our room. Our room was very clean with wooden floor, silk walls, canopy bed, good furniture, blown-glass chandeliers, & spacious bathroom that is lined with marble tiles and furnished with deep soaking tub, bidet, large sink tops, etc. We woud like to stay there again!

We also liked the location, it's less than 10 minutes by foot from Piazza Roma (entrance to Venice, last place you can drive a car) and is very beautiful. There are great shops and restaurants nearby and the prices seem to be a bit more reasonable because it's not immediately located next to tourist attractions.

The only issue was that, there's a coffeshop/wine bar next to the hotel, and we could hear the talking & laughters of its patrons who sit at the tables on the sidewalks well past midnight. But despite all that, I love the hotel and will definitely stay there again!

The only issue was that

Stayed at the hotel with my 12 year old boy.
Nearby was a pub and restaurant which were open till late night and gave a good ambiance of living vacation.
Room and shower/restroom clean clean and comfortable.
a/c working nicely . breakfast satisfactory but nothing too special.
easy access by foot from railway station 10 minutes easy walk.
We suggest strongly and will come back....

If you want great value, then you have to compromise on something, and you have to choose. If you're on a budget (say 150-200 per night), and you want to be central, then the rooms may be small, maybe no aircon, maybe a bit tatty, maybe impossible to find. If you want to be central, then this is not for you.

However, Cendon is a real and very popular alternative:

Plus points:
Hotel was/is a Palazzo. Old and historic.
Good sized rooms and bathrooms.
Good Value Price.
Modern inside, comfortable and well decorated, in a good state.
AirCon
Very pleasant friendly helpful staff.
Faces onto a very pretty canal (Canareggia), and is just off the Grand Canal.
Easy flat walk to/from the train and bus stations (saves money and ALOT of hassle).
One Vaporetto stop right outside the door, and 3 more within 3 mins (including San Marcuola on the Grand Canal)
Less touristy less noisy area, but only 100m to the Grand Canal and the Strada Nova.
Great value and quality bars and restaurants right outside the door, filled with Italians, not tourists.
Dalla Marisa is a highly rated value/gastro restaurant only 50m away. Go there...

Down-side.
Very small foyer, no facilities other than rooms/breakfast.
Its not central.
The Cannaregio/Ferrovia area is a 1600m / 20min walk to the Rialto bridge (pretty much the centre), and 2km / 30mins to St Marks/San Marco.
The counters to this, which may not suit everyone, are:
- thats walking and site-seeing time anyway.
- you can take a different route most times.
- either walk, or its 20/30mins on the Vaporetto (which are great fun and a must-do anyway).

B&B was about a 7 on a scale of 1-10. The rooms were exactly as described, air conditioning worked (a big plus), very clean, and not bad for sleeping. The breakfast was adequate, but nothing great. The front door to the B&B was a little hard to find, but it was in a great neighborhood. Most venetians live in this area, so relatively quiet. It was about a 25 minute walk to St. Mark's, but easy enough to find, and about a 10 minute walk to the train station. It is across from the vapparetto stop, and again, about a 4 minute walk. It was also easy to get to and from the airport. I would recommend to friends, but only if they were looking to stay in Venice, and were looking for a no frills, budget, B&B. There were very lavish hotels in Venice, but if you stay in Venice, it is very expensive. All in all, a very good compromise.

This gorgeous hotel was only a short walk from the train station and very easy to find with their directions. Everything was perfect, the room, the staff, the location. It was 40° in Venice at the time, so our air conditioning was a god send. The staff were super friendly and efficient and helped us with our many enquiries. I will be staying here again for sure

Simply done up with quaint furniture. Very good sized room, as I understand some rooms in Venice could be cramped. Good value. Relatively close to the main train station so there is no need to rely on the vaporetti. There is a short cut which takes you 5 mins to the hotel from the station. However, it is probably recommended to take the main street at night which would make the walk 10-15 mins. It was fortunate it was walkable as the day we were leaving Venice, there was a vaporetti strike! Something to always note in Italy.

There is no sign to indicate privacy but you can inform the front desk not be disturbed.

There is a vaporetti (no. 41 and 42) outside that takes you directly to murano or san marco's, so that is convenient for travel.

Staff was friendly and helpful with directions and vaporetti information. We stayed streetside and the bar was opposite but did not face any noise issues with the windows closed.

My daughter stayed here while on vacation in Italy. I found the hotel via the internet, did some research and decided to stay there. Having never been to Venice before, it seemed that if I wanted to stay on the Island, that I could spend some money or a lot of money. My taste in hotels is cheap, and I don't require a lot.

The Palazzo was close to the train station. Walking distance, it turns out, but for that first trip, I used the Vaporetti. That wasn't necessary, but I didn't want to get lost while carrying luggage.

The rooms are large enough, bathrooms are functional. There's a breakfast included with your room; nothing fancy, just breads, coffee, cereal, and juice.

There is wifi in the lobby, and if your room is close enough, then you may be able to access it from your room. It isn't free, but they charged us 10-euros for our entire stay (4 days). It turned out to be the best deal we got on Internet access for our entire trip.

Location: The hotel is a short walk from the train station (once you have your bearings). It is just a few yards from the grand canal, and there are three vaporetti stops nearby, (different lines).

I will stay there again the next time I visit Venice.
