We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights on our recent trip to Italy. This was our 5th stay in Venice. We were looking for a place near the train station where we did not have to cross any bridges with our luggage. The Cendon caught my eye with the picture of the junior suite with a balcony. We booked a junior suite and wound up in room 1. It was just like the picture. The room was nice and big for being in Venice. The balcony was really nice. And best of all my wife was impressed. The breakfast was typical with meet cheese and fruit. We also found it very convenient to catch the water transit Alilaguna to Marco Polo Airport. You can catch it from the Guglie stop which is right across the canal. 15 Euro PP. You do have to cross a bridge with your luggage to get to the Guglie Stop.
I found it to be the easiest and fastest way to the airport. You used to have to walk on a sidewalk from the terminal to the dock. Now it is all enclosed with people movers.
I definitely would recommend this hotel, especially the Junior Suite with a balcony.

Room tip: Junior Suite room 1

After research I decided on this property and it was a good decision. Located in a quiet alleyway just off a quiet canal street is located this small hotel. We booked 2 rooms for three nights and were assigned two rooms closet to the service desk. The rooms were large with separate bedrooms off large sitting rooms. The sitting rooms had large L-shaped sitting areas that I guess would have accommodated smaller children. They also contained a dining table with chairs. There was plenty of closet and storage space. Considering the size of the rooms, the bathrooms were much smaller. Heavier people might have some qualm with the size. The toilet and bidet actually faced each other in our room and it would be tight if handicapped or too large. Same goes for the shower. Just a warning. It was fine for us but I can understand that some groups might be uncomfortable. Nice amenities were provided. There was a very small TV in the bedroom but none in the sitting area. If you are in Venice for television, don't go. A free breakfast buffet was served from 8-10. Cold cuts, cheeses, breads, boiled eggs, cereals, etc. Not overwhelming but included and adequate to start the day. Coffee, juices, milk also included. Finding might be a little tricky so I'll give you my directions. From the Guglie vaporetto stop. Turn right when you get off at the stop. Go down to the bridge and walk over, immediately take the street along the canal. Walk down until you get to the restaurant named Al Parlamento. Immediately turn left at the alleyway after the restaurant. Go down a few feet and the hotel entrance is on the right. The hotel has 20 rooms. The desk staff is terrific. They speak fluent English and are helpful to a fault. One of them told me that her favorite rooms are on the 1st floor facing the canal. In Europe the first floor is usually our second floor since the ground floor is generally designated as 0. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Value, history, location, friendliness, etc. abound.

Dear Mr. Hicks,

thank you for your very nice and detailed review about Palazzo Cendon!

We are glad that you liked our service and your accommodation - since the ground floor rooms are among the biggest Standard Rooms and they have a connecting door, we think that they are suitable for families or friends traveling together.

Your feedback on the bathroom and shower is appreciated and it will be brought up with the Direction: we always strive to improve our services and your help is precious.

As our Staff already told you, on the first floor there are one of our Suite Rooms and one of our Superior Rooms with Canal View. Should you visit Venice again in the future, we hope to be able to make your next stay with us even better than your last.

We wish you a great day and send you our best greetings

The hotel itself is outstanding for Venice quality and location standards.
My 10 year old son and I had a huge room with balcony overlooking the canal just in front.
Cleanliness and comfort of all hotel facilities were above average and you basically feel like being sent back in centuries.
This is real Venice, as the hotel is basically a completely renovated palazzo from the 15th century.
Breakfast was very Italian, meaning cornetto and cappucino.

Location is perfect, as central and quite which is difficult to find nowadays being in one of the worlds best, but busiest cities.
Distances:
People Mover by foot: 15 min
Central Station by foot: 5 min
Piazzale Roma by foot: 5 min
Rialto bridge by foot: 15 min
St. Markus square by foot: 20 min
Next Vaporetto station by foot: 3 min

There is only one thing which gave our stay a bit of a bitter taste.
My son had nose bleeding one night and we had to pay an extra cleaning fee for the blanket of 25 EUR?!
I would expect from a hotel like this to have an insurance for these kind of situations as this did not occur on purpose.
On the other hand, they could have treated this issue in a more professional way and just not charge the cleaning cost and treat it as a complimentary gesture.
Maybe some room for improvement in customer services still...

Room tip: Rooms with canal view are really worth the money

Dear Mr. Mehlhorn,

thank you for taking the time to write such a detailed review about your Palazzo Cendon.
We are really glad you enjoyed your experience in an authentic Venetian palace.

On the other hand, we are sorry for the inconvenience that occurred during your stay. We hope it was nothing serious.
After the housekeeper had found out the blood stains while cleaning up the room, we had of course to sanitize the silk blanket, which is not standard routine laundry service: we had to be very careful and thorough with the cleaning procedure, also because we needed to remove the dried stains completely without damaging the blanket.
That is why we added 25 Euro to your bill as an extra charge, as our Staff already explained, even though this was of course an unexpected accident.

In the hope that your stay managed to be a good experience nonetheless, we wish you a nice evening.

Best regards

This is a lovely hotel with lots of charm. It's spotlessly clean and the staff are very welcoming and accommodating. We asked for an additional pillow which was brought up immediately.

The room we stayed in was tastefully decorated and had everything we needed including a hairdryer, safe and mini bar. The room was cleaned every day with clean towels left.

The hotel is based in quieter part of Venice which was really nice as it meant we were away from the hassle and bustle. There are quite a few bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk if you don't want to go into the main town.

Breakfast is included in the price of your stay and this was the only thing we were disappointed in. It consists of meat, cheese bread and pastries which as English, we are not used to. The breakfast room is quite small so I understand this limits what can be served but I do feel a toaster and maybe some boiled eggs would go a long way to sway the English that stay here.

There are two stops nearby if you want to jump on the vaporetta. We got a 24 hour ticket for 20 euros each.

I would reccomend this hotel without hesitation. For what it offers and the standard of service it gives its a real bargain.

This hotel has still kept its charm and kept the decor original. Unlike most old hotels they loose there charm with modern fittings. Very clean maid came in everyday fresh towels. Made up the beds. Very good breakfast. Lovely staff makes you feel your family. And a fantastic location. Everything just a short stroll. Great little local bars only yards away. Don’t be put off by this. It’s not magaluf Venice goes to bed early. I stayed on the side of one bar never heard a thing. And it’s great for the first and last drink of the night.

Room tip: I’ve stayed in two rooms there all good

Dear Guest,

good afternoon and thank you for taking the time to write such a nice review about your stay at Palazzo Cendon.

We are really happy that you liked our service and our location: we firmly believe that you have to discover Venice from its authentic side, so sometimes you have to go farther from the big and crowded attraction.

You have been able to experience a different Venice and, as it seems that you were satisfied by your exploration, we hope to welcome you again in our hotel during your next Venetian retreat.

Have a nice evening!
