We had a small double room, and when we checked in there had been a cancellation and we were offered a room right on the canal. It was on the first floor so we could watch the Gondolas go by our windows if we wanted to. It was quite charming when one went by that the riders had paid for someone to sing and play accordion!
The noise stops early with only an occasional boat going through later at night. Some early morning boats too. But we thoroughly enjoyed the atmosphere of it all.
The room was typically small, but we spent almost all of our waking hours out exploring so that was not a problem for us. It was clean which is number one with us.
Nothing overly modern, but all serviceable and adding to the overall charm.
Breakfast was good. Take advantage of the small seating area outside if you want. You can eat outdoors. We also used this area to enjoy a bottle of wine and some snacks in the evening before dinner, watch the Gondolas go past and exchange greetings with the riders.
Location is very convenient to many things and we walked all over Venice from our location. St. Mark's is very close and there are great restaurants and shops all over the area.
We would definitely stay here again.More
