Hotel Becher was our base for 3 nights in Venice and enhanced our experience.

Let me state up front that our room was tiny. This is a given in Venice where space is at a premium, and is no different to Paris, Rome, etc.

Having said that our canal view double was charmingly decorated in Venetian style and looked onto a cute little canal with bridge which was frequented by about 50 gondalas a day! The bathroom was neat and clean.

The breakfast buffet was a little limited for Europe, but still satisfactory. The staff were helpful with transfers, concert tickets, directions, etc, and spoke good English.

The location was about 7 mins walk from St Marks Square.

Recommended as a pleasant and excellent value for money option.

We visited Venice for 3 nights in May and stayed at the Hotel Belcher and were very happy that we did. The Hotel Director Anna was very welcoming, while Daniel (Concierge) provided recommendations for his favorite restaurants - each one was a gem! Our room was clean, modern, and overlooked a picturesque canal. Morning breakfast was included. The hotel is only a 5 minute walk from St Mark's Square and (relatively) easy to find. Great combination of comfort, location, price, and service!

Room Tip: Some rooms have a canal view, make sure to ask when you check-in

It's decent, don't get me wrong, but it's not really as nice as it can be. Our room was tiny and faced the roofs of some other building, which we didn't really spend much time trying to figure it out. However, the location is super fantastic, being so close to San Marco.

The room was tiny but as Venice is such an exceptionally interesting place to explore, we didn't spend a lot of time in the hotel at all. So from that angle, the room was nicely venetian, tiny but decent. We adore the location. The price also is reasonable for what we get - in comparsion to wider Venice rates in summer.

Room Tip: Ask for a canal view room - I'm betting it will be nicer than where we were. But if you want som...

My one night stay in this traditionally Venice hotel was one of the highlights of my recent holiday. Arriving by water taxi at the hotels landing stage I was welcomed by the receptionist/manager Maximo who not only turned out to be an amazing ambassador for the hotels owners but a fountain of knowledge about Venice. The hotel is situated on a small canal favoured by gondoliers who constantly pass under the bedroom windows and provide a true 'local' feeling and a sign on the building almost opposite proudly states that Mozart visited the carnival here in 1771 and probably enjoyed the same views as you can today. The rooms decorated in typical Venetian style are far removed from the characterless offerings of some other establishments and provide amenities not often found in three star hotels. An excellent location makes this my number one choice for a Venice hotel at an affordable price with superb service.

I stayed here in July and early August 2013 for a brief holiday between work trips. Because Venice is quite compact, it is very convenient to see the sights of the city; and being so close to Piazza San Marco means that dozens of attractions, ristorante, trattoria and gelati stalls are within immediate reach! The hotel itself is great as a lauching base. The beautifully decorated rooms have sufficient amenities for a comfortable stay (except for a kettle!), and the breakfast is quite generous. Furthermore, the hotel has its own little water landing, which is just as great as the pictures suggest; you can have breakfast there! The staff are friendly and helpful with directions as well.

Traveled with to Venice with my husband, a 17 year old and a 12 year old in the hot month of July. Check-in was very efficient and friendly after which we we shown to a good sized air conditioned room with a comfortable double bed and two twin beds. The room and bathroom were very clean and well appointed. Though you can hear the gondoliers singing throughout the day, at night the hotel was quiet and we had a restful sleep. The location is excellent; across from Mozart's house and short walk to St Mark's square. We had to catch a 6am train to leave Venice so the day before our departure, the hotel arranged for us to be picked by private water taxi at 5:15. The desk attendant who was just as hospitable at such an early hour as the rest of his colleagues, offered us cappuccinos while we waited. The taxi arrived promptly and we arrived at the train station with plenty of time to spare. Our stay at Hotel Becher was comfortable and fuss free. We booked the hotel six months in advance. All correspondence was answered promptly and the information that was provided was clear and helpful. I would certainly recommend this hotel to travelers who want to stay in a nice hotel with reasonable rates.

Room Tip: Book directly with hotel in advance. Take advantage of the hotel's dock and enjoy a coffee whil...

Thanks to Rip Advisor we learned that the AC worked in this hotel and it does. Venice in July is not a cool month and having air conditioning is a must for us.
Anna was very helpful arranging our gondola trip and the hotel is very well located for anything that you want to do in Venice. The hotel is a tiny gem.
