After a business trip to Europe, I decided to take some time off and take a trip to Italy. I booked a room at the Hotel Becher based on the price of a single room (great deal) and the Trip Advisors reviews. I made the right decision. My first recommendation is to take the water taxi to the hotel, I did not and it took a while to find the hotel and I was exhausted dragging my luggage around. I am told the water taxi is about 80 euro. If you do take the water bus instead, take the #2 Vaporetto to S. Marco Vallareso (the #2 is faster than the #1 because the #1 stops at all the stations). Walk up Calle Valleresso to the end and take a left and then a quick right onto Calle Frezzeria. Take this to the end (at one point it makes a sharp left turn). Take a right and a quick left onto Calle Barcaroli. Once you cross a canal the hotel will be on the right.
The single room was small, but I was only there to sleep. As mentioned the room was hot. My room was on the canal side and right next to the pathway. At night I opened the windows before going to bed, but needed to close the shutters and the window to block out the noise of the occasional water taxi and passersby.
The staff was extremely helpful. The overnight person (sorry forgot name) was very helpful in assisting with things to do as well as dinner plans. I would recommend reservations. On Saturday night as a solo traveler 3 places I went could not seat me due to bookings.
The hotel is also a 5-10 minute walk to both San Marco square and Rialto Bridge. I would definitely return as it was a very pleasant stay.
