The hotel staff were very helpful for my first time in Venice! Location was great, close to everything you need. A couple unexpected hidden treasures:

- Privet Dock with a bottle of wine
- Mozart's apartment across from my window

Thank you Hotel Becher & staff for a unforgettable birthday.

The hotel is nice and in a convenient location to San Marcos. The rooms are clean and well maintained. The biggest draw back is that the hotel is not very convenient to the vaporetto stop. You have to carry your luggage up and down several bridges and wind your way through alleys before you get to the hotel. Once there, they do have a lovely table that sits on the balcony to the canal and you can have your breakfast there. We were on the third floor and although there was a window in the room it was so high up that you needed to stand p
A chair to see out if it, only to discover that you looked onto the wall of the next door building. The staff was very friendly and willing to help in any way possible. In the end if didn't matter because we were hardly ever in the room. If you are looking for a reasonably priced hotel in a good location for seeing all of the tourist sites, this is a great hotel for you.

We looked at lots of hotels before finally deciding on the Hotel Becher. We traveled around Italy for 2 weeks and being on a tight budget we wanted something in a central location but at a reasonable price, (we stayed in the last weekend of August) also being a little fussy it had to be a good standard basically we wanted 5* but didn't want to pay 5* prices! The Hotel Becher met and exceeded our expectations!!

The hotel is located about 5 minutes away from St Marks Square which is an excellent reference point if you happen to get lost.. which we did!!! It is a little gem hidden away from the crowds. (A little fact that we overheard from a passing gondola, was the red building situated opposite the hotel was home to Mozart)

We arrived by waterbus which takes about 30-40 minutes, however were lucky enough to get outside seats at the front which was just fantastic as were got a fantastic view! I would recommend following the hotel directions which you can find and print from the hotel website. These took us directly to the hotel without getting lost, its probably not the quickest route however is the most efficient when you have luggage.

Checking in was very easy and done with a very warm welcome. We had requested a canal view room when we made our booking online, and to our delight our room was on the ground floor right next to the canal which was just fantastic to watch the gondolas glide pass. We did not take a gondola ride sadly but this was almost as good! ( I think the fares vary depending on how long your ride is but they seemed to cost around €80 - €120 per ride)

Our room was small however had everything we needed especially the air conditioning which was just perfect after a long day exploring in the hot summer sun.

In the evenings the hotel becomes enchanting with candles and low lights, very romantic. We spent one evening sitting on the tables outside with a bottle wine watching the world go by.

Breakfast is included in the room rate and was very nice with a good selection for everyone with freshly made coffee. The breakfast room is very cosy (small) but in no way did this cause any problems. If you are lucky you can get one of the tables which are outside overlooking the canal. On the second floor there is another seating area with tea and coffee, also there is a washroom which the hotel are happy for you use after checking out to freshen up. I found this very useful as we didn't need to leave Venice until the afternoon. The hotel were also very happy to look after our bags until it was time to leave at no extra cost.

Just a little note to remember when checking out is that there is a city tax which has to paid locally and in cash, I think it was €12.00 for 2 of us.

This hotel was a fantastic find and just made our stay in Venice perfect, if we ever return to Venice we would certainly return to the Hotel Becher.

Room Tip: Don't forget to take insect spray!

We arrived by water bus (slow but cheap and efficient) from the airport and immediately got lost in the maze of small streets surrounding St Mark's Square. However, when we finally found it, the welcome couldn't have been warmer.

We had been upgraded (not sure why) and our room was wonderful, with plenty of space and a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was a good size with all the little goodies one comes to expect from a good hotel. It also had a window which let in all the morning light and afternoon light.

Breakfast was exceptionally good and served in the tiny downstairs room overlooking the canal. You could also eat on the tiny landing stage, although the canal was very busy and noisy in the early mornings with boats collecting rubbish and delivering supplies.

One of the great things about this hotel was its location - quiet yet right in the heart of the city. When you stepped outside, you were minutes from St Mark's Square and any number of wonderful little shops and restaurants. Next time we come to Venice, we won't bother looking for any other hotel.

Room Tip: We had asked not to have a dark back room which amused the lady who received us and which is why we...

This is a lovely hotel to stay in, beautiful decor wonderful staff, spotlessly clean, all you could ask for. We are fussy travelers and have stayed in some lovely hotels world wide and this rates amongst the very best. Thanks to Anna and the lovely staff for making our stay so memorable. Venice is a wonderful place to visit.

Room Tip: Doesn't matter which room you choose this hotel is in a quiet location.

The reviews of this hotel are accurate! It is wonderful! We stayed for three nights. Our room was very small but this is Venice and it is an older building. The hotel staff is very nice and accommodating, Anna was especially warm and friendly upon our arrival! The staff booked us a water taxi to the train station and gave us several restaurant recommendations. All of which were very good. This hotel is very charming. It's also very reasonably priced. The services and the hotel exceeded my expectations. I would recommend taking a water taxi to and from the airport or train station. The dock is accessible to taxi's and lugging your luggage around Venice seems very difficult!

Room Tip: We arrived early and my request for a canal room was able to be accommodated. There are only six can...

What an amazing hotel! We, my new fiancee and I!, traveled Europe and stayed in a lot of hotels, this was by far the best! Pay the extra for the canal view, it was one of our best memories from the trip! Sitting at the window watching gondolas go by, laying in bed listening to them sing in the morning! Ahhhh, Venice, you are amazing! This hotel was THE best location in Venice. In all the twists and tangles of the streets, it was great to have a hotel easy to find because it was pretty close to st. Marks. So if ever lost, follow signs to st. Marks and then you can find your way back! We did lots of hotel research and it paid off! Hardly ever would I want to go back to the same hotel on a vacation, I like to experience different places. But in this case, I would stay here over and over, if ever we find ourselves lucky enough to be in Venice again. Oh, and it was hot hot hot outside, so the cool air conditioning was such a retreat! One night we bought a bottle of Bellini and sat out on the hotels landing on the canal. So romantic! Nice staff too, we arrived way early from our overnight train. They said they would hold our bags, but I felt so gross after the heat and sleeping on the train. Checkin wasnt for another several hours. They let me use the bathroom to wash up a bit, but then thankfully told us our room was ready. I was so thankful that they let us checkin so early! If you are reading this I am jealous, because 1, you must be going to Venice soon, and 2, you are booking hotel Becher now! You will love it! Venice was our absolute favorite city topping london, paris, and munich. Trust me, stay here! Happy travels!!
