“What a find!”
Reviewed November 17, 2009

This was our first trip to Venice and after checking the reviews on several hotels we picked La Commedia, what a find! It is in a great location very close to the Rialto Bridge and vaporetto stop on the Grand Canal. It was so easy to reach everything we wanted to see. The hotel staff were very helpful - I asked for a softer pillow as the bedding is quite firm, and this was taken care of immediately. The reception staff especially have great language skills (we listened in as two of them moved with ease into german, french and english) We had an upgrade on our room (booking with Citalia) which was extremely comfortable, with a large 6ft bed. One thing which stood out was how the room and all the communal areas we saw were immaculate. Highly recommended.

This hotel was in a great location and the room was wonderful - lots of room, great amenities, nice view. It was so easy to get to from the Rialto stop when we first arrived and it was the perfect place to get our bearings...quick to get to st. marks and rialto.

The hotel staff were very helpful and accommodating. When we first checked in our room - while a non-smoking facility - it smelled of smoke and they quickly changed our room. The breakfast was nothing remarkable but it was great to have someplace to go to...coffee/tea, fresh fruit, cereals, croissants/breads, jams, cheeses and hams/meats.

Hotel staff offered to get us a gondola ride, but it was much cheaper to just get one on our own. The use of their internet/computer was reasonable and convenient.

We spent 4 nights at La Commedia and the choice of this hotel complemented our dream holiday in Italy. The hotel is perfectly situated from Rialto as well as San Marco Square. We arrived in Venice from Rome via train (Eurostar was fantastic) and hopped on the vaporetto to Rialto and in less than 15 mins we were at the front desk checking in.

The hotel is beautifully furnished and decorated as is expected in Venice. Our room was on the 3rd floor and we were gobsmacked with how beautiful the room was. The bathroom was huge for european standards and the room was the most welcoming and comfortable I have experienced in a long time.

Anything and everything you desire is available just a few steps from the hotel entrance, restaurants, cafes, fast food, pharmacies, gift stores, clothing stores, and of course the wonderful glass and artisan shops.

The breakfast available each morning was of the highest quality as was the service offered by the staff. The menu may be somewhat limited however the food available was deliciious and very good.

The hotel has a wonderful and warm feeling and the staff are genuinely friendly and accommodating. The hotel was absolutely perfect just like our holiday in Italy. I would definitely stay at this hotel again next time we visit Venice.

This was my 2nd trip to Venice; my friends' first. La Commedia was ideal -- great location near the Rialto and San Marco, yet away from crowds. The service, especially at the front desk was wonderful. They are knowledgeable, friendly, and have a sense of humor. Since there were 3 of us, we booked a suite. Plenty of room, especially for Venice! Will definitely return.

The hotel is located in the right place - not too close / not too far from Piazza San Marco - 2-minute walk from the Rialto Bridge, 5-minute walk to Piazza San Marco and 10-minute walk to La Academia. Check-in: We arrived at 1:00 am because of a flight delay and the front desk man received us with a smile and "dispatch" us to the room in less than 1 minute (just the passport to check identity). Front desk people, waiter at breakfast and everybody at the hotel were allways in good mood and extremely polite during the whole stay. Rooms are tidy, clean adn you note that the hotel has been constructed / refurbushed a few years ago. I would come back to Alla Commedia withour hesitation.

Hotel was great! Room was a little small, had to rearrange to be able to take suitcase of the bed, but we had a large balcony and bathroom was huge. Very convenient to the Rialto vaporetto stop and San Marco square. The airport vaporetto also stops at Rialto which is great if traveling by air. I would highly recommend!!
