“Lovely Hotel, Pricy Food”
Reviewed February 22, 2014

Stayed here over Valentines Day and the opening weekend of the Venice Carnival. The hotel is set in a converted warehouse on the quiet island of Giudecca. There is a free shuttle operated by the hotel which runs every 50 minutes to Zattere and San Marco with a journey time of around 10 minutes, though there are breaks in this schedule at times throughout the day, with the last one back to the hotel at around half past midnight. It is worth noting also that it is only about a 10-15 minute walk from Zattere (the first stop) to San Marco via the Accademia Bridge which we found to be quite pleasant. There is also a public Vaporetto station a short walk from the hotel which runs frequent services to San Marco for 4.00 euro, which we had to use on the morning of our departure as the hotel-run shuttle was full to capacity.

The hotel communal spaces are attractive and our room on the fourth floor was clean, spacious and well equipped, if a little worn in places. Staff we encountered particularly on reception and in the Aromi Bar were friendly and helpful. We were slightly disappointed to find that the Skyline Bar and Pool area on the roof were closed for refurbishment, especially since the weather that weekend was mild and pleasant, which was not advertised prior or explained on check-in. We also felt that signage inside the hotel was confusing and made navigating the maze of corridors and several separate banks of elevators a task. We never did find the Bacaromi Restaurant! As a younger couple, who booked the hotel on a very good deal through British Airways Holidays, we found dining in the hotel restaurants extraordinarily expensive, especially breakfast which was not included in our deal, so we dined elsewhere in the City for most of our stay in Venice. We did however make use of the Aromi Bar a couple of times which was pleasant and the service good.

Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Hilton and our Valentines break in Venice, and would recommend and return.

Room Tip: The room we booked (Standard King) overlooked a central courtyard so no view.

It was our first visit to Venice and we were worried about its location not being on the main island where most tourists stay. Soon after we arrived, this worries vanished as we realised that the hotel was just across from San Marco and there is a complimentary shuttle boat every half hour. From S.Lucia train station, just take water bus ACTV no. 2 and alight at Palanca station, turn to right and after crossing two bridges, you will reach the hotel. To me, the hotel is considered one of the landmarks there, as it was converted from an abandoned flour mill factory previously with a long family business history dated back as long as 100 years ago (you can get a copy of the history brochure from the hotel concierge).
The room is beautiful as you can see the structure of the building still being preserved especially the beams on the ceiling. The view from the window of the room is a beautiful pic of typical Venice. Take a stroll around the hotel compound and you will discover many interesting places.
There aren't many restaurant on this island but there is one recommended by the concierge called Trattoria al Cacciatore serves great food.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay here a lot and if we do come back to Venice again in future, we will still choose to stay in this hotel again.

Valentines was made even more special as we stayed here. Amazing room with a glass chandelier and full marble bathroom the breakfast is served from 7 am until 10:30 am monday - saturday and is a self serve breakfast. You can choose from cereal, fresh fruit , deli counter , pastries and of course cooked breakfast. Several juices are served also and fresh coffee at the table. The hotel has a 24hr free gym with access to the spa pools / sauna 25 euro for 2 hours. A free bus will take you to zattere or san marco and this runs frequently and is a fast service also. (Only for hilton guests) All the staff are multi lingual so communicating is no problem although it is best to learn please and thank you. Will be going back in september and once a year there after

Room Tip: For a quiet night ask for a rear room for a scenic room but slightly disturbed by boat noise choose...

As we age, it seems like there is less and less "magic" to be found in life, so this hotel was a fantastic surprise in the midst of our European trip. The hotel has a rooftop pool and elevated restaurant overlooking Venice and it is a fantastic place to watch the sunset over the city of romance. The rooms are gorgeous, very artistically appointed and the service from staff is phenomenal. The hotel even has its own water taxi to shuttle you from the hotel around Venice; since traveling here, my wife and I have seen their water taxis featured in many movies filmed in Venice, so it is a very special memory.

Room Tip: Ask for a view of the city.

The hotel overall was OK. I enjoyed being on the island of Giudecca, and the hotel's shuttle boat made access to everywhere else a breeze. The rooms were adequate, but somewhat Hilton-like. They seemed a bit generic and outdated. Getting simple problems fixed, though, was bothersome (broken remote control was not replaced until I had to contact the manager; telephone in the room did not work, so calling the desk was impossible).

The breakfast there is a total gyp--THIRTY EURO. That is simply outrageous and speaks to a level of food and experience that this hotel cannot provide. Because of this reaction to the breakfast price, we did not eat at all in the hotel except to partake of the juice and coffee offered at the reception desk when we checked out early in the morning.

Do not depend on the concierge for anything of use. She was impossible to reach by telephone and could not be found in person. We ended up relying on a desk clerk to shuttle messages which resulted in one good restaurant choice that met with our description and desire and one choice that was just terrible.

The hotel is grossly overpriced--the Hilton website was selling its low end rooms at over 300 Euro per night, and we got in on priceline for 150 US per night.

We took the public transportation from the airport to the hotel. The long ride on the water was a joy, and the hotel staff with whom I spoke the day before were knowledgeable about the transportation options and costs. It might've helped, though, if they mentioned that the public transportation, Alilunga (I think I'm spelling it right), runs only every half hour or so, and, the line can be long--even off season. We waited in that line (in unseasonably mild weather, fortunately) for nearly 90 minutes until there was room on a boat for us. Again, the staff did a good, just slightly incomplete job.

So, all in all, this is a serviceable place, just not spectacular or even above average.

Dear Sir/Madame

Thank you very much for having taken the time to share on TripAdvisor your evaluation concerning your recent stay at the Hilton Molino Stucky Venice and for letting us know how we are meeting your expectations.

We are glad that you have appreciated the quietness of the location and the relaxing atmosphere but on the other hand are most concerned our establishment did not offer you the usual service expected by guests at Hilton. As far as the Concierge staff, I apologize if their knowledge resulted not sufficient to you and I will personally look into it and take action in order to improve that service.

We acknowledge your comments on prices, though I can also assure you that prices of food and beverage in our bars and restaurants are in line with other 5-stars hotels in Venice.

We place great value on guests’ opinion and we look forward to welcoming you with us again in the near future.

Sincerely,
Alessandro M. Cabella

Stayed here second week of February 2014.
This is a very striking hotel, lots of places to sit on the ground floor and different restaurants, not all open at the same time.
Giudecca is interesting to wander around and the hotel shuttle was never full.
We ate in the Rialto and the Bacaromi. Food and service excellent. Prices compared to other Venice restaurants of this quality, drinks expensive but it is a Hilton in Venice.
This is the best Hilton that I can recall staying in. The staff are, without exception, helpful and friendly. One of our coats was soaked one day and they quickly took it and dried it, no charge.
Breakfast was excellent and they cook many things to order. We did not use wifi but there are 3 computers available for use and this was helpful.
Our room overlooked the water...very worthwhile to be able to see across.
We found every single member of the Hilton team to be willing and efficient.
The reception supervisor and the hostess for breakfast really excelled.
I recommend this hotel to you. great building, well run by superb staff.

Room Tip: Water view.....not to be missed
