A must visit place, just 10-15min boat/vaporetti ride away from Venice. You can rent a bike and explore the area as much as you want. It has a beautiful beach to walk on. You can many super markets, restaurants, cafes and stores in this area. There are many hotels available, cheaper & good in quality than Venice I believe. One can make his base here while exploring Venice, instead of staying in Venice hotels (which are not upto mark). Nicely built house, neat & clean road, beautiful beach, silent environment.

A lovely life.

we went for lunch and were disappointed to see cars and buses instead of canals. maybe it was that god awful restaurant near the boat station that ruined it for me but I don't recommend it at all.

about an hour away from pe di roma bus station in venice by vaporetti line 1 or 40 mins by line 4.2 or 5.2. Has a few free beaches and the main streets grand viale and st Elisabetta has lots of reasonable bars and restaurants and cafes. Also a good clothes store called ovs and a great supermarket called billa.
One thing to do is hire a bike either two seater or four seater. For 1 hrs the two seater is 9e 8e per hour after but max cost is 25e. Its a fab way to see the whole island and the owner is very helpful and kind. It's located just up from waterbus station near the start of grand viale. It's called lidoonbike.it
Overall if you're staying in the venice area a week or so lido is a great area to stay. Venice is fab but can get a bit crowded and expensive if you're there more than a few days. Staying on lido means you can spend a few days on the beach or cycling around, spend a day on the islands murano and burano and spend some days in venice also. Taking the number 1 vaporetti from lido to venice means you see all the big sights from the river and buying a venice unica travel card 50euro for seven days or less for less days, means you can take vaporetti water buses and land buses hassle free. A fun and relaxing holiday!

The Lido is a good base for the area and in only 10 minutes on the ACTV boat to Venice. When you disembark from the boat there are plenty of shops and restaurants. I used the local supermarket, Billa, rather a lot as well. It is a very short walk from the dock to the free beach on the other side of the island. The beach was sandy and clean and a welcome play area for children. There are plenty of canals and tree lined avenues to wander around on the Lido. I would stay there again if visiting Venice.
