“Just lovely!”

Ideal spot for a few days or longer. Lots of places to eat and enjoy a spritz. Much cheaper than on Grand Canal, fantastic people watching from pavement seating. Very nice range of shops. Loved it!

I almost skipped this during our trip, as we were short on time, but am so glad we didn't miss it! A lovely island with a lovely beach. It was very easy to get to from Venice. Pleasant waters, and a refreshing break if you want to get away for a bit from the usual attractions like museums and Cathedrals. The walk up to the beach was scenic. Will spend some more time here the next time I visit Venice.

“Beautiful Place”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 8, 2013

I visited Lido last weekend and was wonderful, nice place, nice people..close to the San Marcos square and Ducale Palace. The people are very friendly. Just 3 stops from San Marcos and very affordable hotels. If you go to Venice its a perfect place to stay.

“A peculiar place”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 21, 2013 via mobile

For the three days I spent on this island I felt as if I was on a film set for an old episode of The
Avengers. Abandoned buildings with broken windows are interspersed with beautiful hotels. Expensive ice cream sundaes are served from cafes with rusty chairs. Huge forlorn Art Deco buildings along the beach side make you want to cross the road incase the zombies start to wander out.

The abandoned mansions on Strada dell Ospizo Marino in the north east of the island are like something from a war torn country. It's a photographers dream if you like to capture faded glory, as piles of bricks, rusty gates, broken windows and rubbish adorn what were once fine mansions.

Elsewhere on the island ugly concrete blocks of flats sit next to pretty parks and waterways. I found the whole experience hugely unsettling yet more interesting than Venice itself.

“Peaceful seaside”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

I came here on my last day in Venice and was very glad I did. It made a lovely change from the frenetic crowds! I walked down the main road to the sea. There are lots of interesting attractive buildings, more reasonably priced restaurants and ice cream parlours. I relaxed walking along the beach and out on the various break waters. I found it interesting to watch the digger which at low tide was digging a sand wall at the back of the beach which the beach huts peeped over the top of.
