“Good Value for money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 14, 2014

This is the second time we stayed at his hotel and we quite like it. It has a lot of character with antiques in the hallways. It is a small hotel, covering 3 or 4 floors (with no elevator) but with a limted numeer of rooms on each floor. The WiFi typically only works from the reception area, which is really just a couple of chairs in a wide hallway. We were lucky that it worked from our room (room 12 - for 4 people) . The daytime reception staff is extremely pleasant and knowledgable about the city and transportation, etc. however the night guy needs to learn to be a little happier. Not that he was surly, he just wasn't a guy you would talk to more than you needed to.

The big bounses about this hotel are: 1) They can accomodate 4 or sometimes even 5 people in one room; 2) the location is about two blocks away from the Rialto Bridge and it is a bit quieter than places around the Bridge or St. Mark's Square; and 3) Venice is extremely expensive and while this is still expensive for what you get, it is inexpensive by Venice standards.

There are a couple of bars in the square around the corner from the hotel, one of which sets out tables and has an outdoor facing TV which was great during the World Cup. Lots of people milling around and watching the games while having a Spritz.

Very nice hotel near Rialto bridge and canal. Staff very helpful and friendly. No elevator and long flight of stairs to take luggage up. Nice large, air conditioned room with room for our family of 5. Would stay here again.

We spent three nights here and enjoyed our stay. The rooms were well maintained and clean and the staff was very helpful. The location is terrific being close to the Rialto market and the bridge with great restuarants close by. The vaporetto stop is just steps away from the front door and very easy to find. Be advised that this is a historic building and does not have an elevator. My only complaint was that the breakfast didn't include any eggs or meats which was unusual. The coffe and tea were both good. I would stay here again.

We have just stayed at the apartment run by pensione guerrato as the pensione itself was full, and in contrast to past reviews, our family's experience was mixed:
first, the pros
- walking distance to st marks square and rialto
- air conditioning to assist with the humid venetian summer
- Enough bedding for 2 adults and 3 kids
- kitchen with fridge, microwave and kettle

Now, the cons:
- ancient doors and locks which caused repeated difficulties with key opening to access the apartment
- Inconsistent hot water in the shower
- no television (the soccer world cup was on)
- no wi-fi in the apartment itself

Overall, we would stay elsewhere on our next trip to venice

Room Tip: Minimise heavy luggage because of stairs to apartment and around bridges leading to apartment

We stayed in Piccolo Guerrato as the Pensione was full, 2 adults and 2 kids aged 12 and 10. This was a great apartment in a fantastic location. Only a minutes walk to St Marks Square. The apartment was fantastic, very comfortable, plenty of room for the four of us. Check in was great, we were provided with plenty of advice on places to eat etc. Loved it!!!!

This was exactly what we expected. Charming, perfect location near the Rialto Medcato, clean and affordable. My family of 5 and I spend 2 wks in Italy and traveled from Venice to Rome.. Although it was not a budget friendly trip by any means we tried to save money where we could. Per our request we had one room that accommodated us all and it was comfortable and clean. Loved the old style. Felt like we were taken back in time a little. Breakfast was fine. I would have liked the option of a boiled egg or two but that was not typical of any place we stayed. This isn't luxury. This is character and charm. I would stay here.

This is a very convenient location from which to base your Venice exploration. Steps from the Vaporetto stop and in the middle of the Rialto market. Lots of food options close by. WARNING the Internet service is slow and not dependable. Breakfast is a bit minimalist but for the money, this is a good property.
