Exceptional location behind Rialto market. Many bars restaurants, bars and shops within a few minutes. Very close to a vaparetto stop. We stayed in the attic room, which is on the 4th floor with no lift, but has views of the Grand Canal and a hrough breeze if you open all the windows.

Bear in mind that Venice is basically in a swamp - there are mosquitos after dark at ground level.

Friendly english-speaking reception staff.

As others have noted, this hotel is in a great location not far from the Rialto bridge. It was convenient to the vaparetto, the market, and restaurants and shops. The steps are quite a haul with luggage or at the end of a long day of sightseeing, but we managed them. The room was done in the Venetian style -- chandeliers, heavy draped, etc. -- we certainly felt like we were in "authentic" Venice. There was some late night noise from a nearby square full of bars, but the windows and shutters did a surprisingly good job of blocking it out. The room did seem to have a slight musty odor, but I imagine there are few places you can go in Venice in August that would not, and it wasn't especially bothersome. The staff was very welcoming, and answered our many questions. Breakfast was good, if unimaginative. We would definitely stay again if we return to Venice.

Right off the Rialto Mercado vaparetto stop. Nice family run place. Walk up. Good breakfast albiet no fruit (but the market is right out the front door). They had a room for 5 which is why we choose it. Did not disappoint.

My husband I just visited Venice. We had never been there but had no trouble finding the hotel. It's in a great location by the Rialto Bridge. You can walk most places from here. Rooms are nice and clean. The breakfast is well presented. The best thing about this place is Roberto. He was the most helpful hotel employee of our two week trip. Great recommendations. He helped us with all of our needs. We decided to take a water taxi to the airport (110 euros but worth it) and he even took us to where it would pick us up. I would stay there again!

I selected the hotel because of the recommendation in Rick Steves' guidebook. The building was built in 1288 and the hotel is adorned with style. The owners were friendly and helpful. The location was great because it is located by the market (midway down the Grand Canal). The croissants at breakfast are simply splendid and melt in your mouth. There is no television in the room which is okay because you should be spending your time in the beautiful city. I would recommend this hotel without any hesitation.

Yes we were on the top floor and yes there is no elevator and we had to slug our cases up 6 flights of stairs but what do you expect with a building built in 1288! This is a charming hotel in the San Polo district. The staff is friendly and breakfast is included in the price of your stay. It is a simple breakfast with coffee, tea, orange juice biscuits etc...
I would personally stay here again.

Room Tip: Stay on the ground floor if you can

I booked a stay at the Guerrato for an intended visit to Venice. Unfortunately there was some confusion about the dates and the trip was aborted. However, thanks to the understanding and excellent customer service from Roberto, we were able to save some of the costs and reduce our losses. We look forward to staying here when our plans materialize.
