Ca Centopietre is hidden down a small side street and is accessed through a non-decrypt grey gate. Behind the gate is a Venetian building that has at it's heart a guy called Carlo. He is your receptionist, cook, guide, and concierge all in one. He is in the background but comes to the fore only when necessary.

Breakfast had the usual juice, cereal, coffee, and bread but done well. It is always the simple things that matter. The bread was freshly baked by Carlo. Croissants were available too. The standard coffee was good with espresso or cappuccino available also. The milk for the coffee was steamed in the espresso machine. It made it a very enjoyable experience.

The room we had wasn't large but was sufficient. It had a large wardrobe and table and chairs. There was a small fridge too which was good to keep drinks cool. The bathroom wasn't connected to the room which was not ideal but wasn't as big a problem as it would seem. We knew this when we booked the room. We were the only ones with use of the bathroom. There was very good air conditioning and a TV with only Italian channels on it too. The room was clean as was the bathroom but there were areas that could have done with a deeper clean.

I would recommend staying the the Dorsoduro area. There is a more relaxed feel here with student and locals prevalent. Strolling around the small streets here doesn't involve rugby tackles on guided tours to stay vertical. There are also a selection of good restaurants that are less expensive than in the main tourists areas. It is about a fifteen minute walk to St.Marks square and the hoards that you will find there. That is close enough.

We choose to stay here as the reviews on this site were very good while the reviews of other Venetian Hotels and B&B's seemed to be uniformly bad to average. We were very happy with our choice and would like to pass on the baton of recommendation to anybody else planning on visiting this wonderfully unique city. Use Carlo to get advice on where to go and what to do and you will have a wonderful visit.

Venice is a wonderful city and I would recommend to anyone but I cannot say the same Hotel Ca' Centopietre. My room had a very unpleasant smell and although the bedding was clean the room and bathroom really were not. I only got a sheet on my bed and the blankets the provided also smelled so I ended up sleeping in a jumper. The shower head kept falling off when I was in the shower and not even being a big person it was a tight fit to get washed. No love long shower were had. The shower also flooded my room twice. Great place but pick a different hotel. Location is the one thing it had so finding something near by mite be an idea

Away from the hustle and bustle of Venice is a little enclave which houses the ca centopietre. We were greeted by Carlo a quiet unassuming host. He is very knowledgable and we quickly grew to love the calm environment. Venice is very easy to negotiate and once you get your bearings it is great to explore. Our room was lovely with air con shower over bath. clean towels as required and our room serviced everyday. There is a lovely restaurant just out the door and just around the corner a great jewellery shop ask for Gianni. Close to ferries on grand canal. They have wi fi which is essential.

We stayed 8 nights at Ca Centopietre and were completely satisfied. Carlo takes great pride in his hotel and is there to assist you if you need anything. The hotel is in a great location, about a 2 minute walk from the Accademia Bridge/Vaporetta stop. Our room had a lovely high ceiling and much appreciated air-conditioning. We didn't have a view - our room looked onto an unused court-yard - but it was extremely quiet. Our private bathroom was large, and included a bathtub and hand-held shower. The breakfast room is lovely and the breakfast was ample. Carlo has lots of guide books available for guests to use, and near our room, there was a pile of about 12 current English language novels - a self-service book exchange, which I was happy to use! Carlo displays a real interest in his guests and makes each guest feel special.

Spent 4 nights at Ca Centopietre hotel for honeymoon. In Venice every house has own history and hotel is not an exception, just look at front of the building, breakfast hall or interior of the rooms. Our gratitude to owner Carlo, who is very gentle, helpful and polite. Don't hesitate to turn him for asking the main attractions, transport queries or any guidance along the Venice.

Room is well furnished, spacious, has a good conditioner. Only little disadvantage that cleaning of room and bath was very quick and not spotless.

Breakfast is nice: coffee (ask for excellent Italian cappuccino!), tea, juices, bread / croissants, cornflakes /muesli and yogurt. It could be perfect if to add a bit of fresh cheese and fruits.

Situation of the hotel is very convenient - from nearby Academia Bridge you can reach all main points of interest within 10-15 min by walking. Maybe better before reaching the hotel for the first time is to ask Carlo for the certain explanation (heard he has even a video).
It's even better to stay at Dorsoduro part of Venice for its quietness, wide promenade near the canals and magnificent views.

Room Tip: Ask for superior double room with big bath included.

My girlfriend and I had a lovely two nights here. In a really great location in Venice, in a relatively quiet street just a stones throw away from the hustle and bustle of L'Accadamia.

The guy who runs the place, Carlo, is a really great guy. Very friendly and helpful.

The breakfast was good - nothing to write home about.

The room was clean and comfortable, but basic. However, we were slightly disappointed to be in a separate building, around the corner from the main hotel (I think because we booked through lastminute.com). It would have been nicer to be in the main building. Also we could hear music from a near by restaurant which bothered my girlfriend at first, but it stopped at a fairly decent hour.

If you're looking for a relatively cheap place with no frills, in a good location and with friendly staff; then this Ca' Centopietre will suit you fine.

Room Tip: Ask not to be put in the annex building. Probably best not booking through lastminute / expedia etc...

Love the area. Paid high cost for accommodation that needs updating. Two Star Hotel.
Looks like the current price of a room ($85.00), is 1/2 of what we paid.

Room Tip: Stay at Hotel Agli Alboretti. We stayed on the second floor. Lower price. Great neighborhood. Clean...
