Our air con wasn't working the first night so for the remaining 2 nights of our stay we were upgraded to an extremely large air conditioned room in Ca Braggadin free of charge. Just a little concerned about what would have happened if another room wasn't available. Fortunately worked out and very happy.

Stayed 2 nights. Room was clean. Bit noisy till about midnight. Shower very, very, very small. AC broken (seems like it never worked and it's not going to be fixed at all - just there to advertise the room). The video on you tube that walks you through the street to get to San Lio helped a lot. For Venice it is a nice place to stay.

Staying for 1 night in a room where the ac is broken and there is a non stop party outside. I tried to call and change my room but no answer. I also called about the ac and all they said was that it was broken... Really?

This tourist house is affiliated to a larger hotel about 1 minute round the corner. A lot of the rooms are recently refurbished and lovely and bright, modern & clean. The area can be a little noisy (as it's 10 min walk from Piazza San Marco) in the evening but quietens down after around 11pm which was fine for us.

We booked a room with San Lio Tourist House last minute for a great price during Carnivale (which was terrific by the way, as Venice is at any time of year). We were very thankful that we were upgraded from the economy room as we had our baby with us. The upgraded room had a larger bed than the economy room. It appeared to have been recently renovated, the bedding was new and comfortable. I definitely recommend the San Lio Tourist House, it's easy to get to from Rialto Bridge (they have a video on their website that walks you through the street, so it's really quite easy to get to). Enjoy!

Room Tip: The economy room has a smaller bed than the normal rooms, go for the normal room, it's more comf...

We stayed at the San Lio guest house for one night in early March. The check-in was slightly strange in that the main reception and check-in was in a different hotel so we went into San Lio and then spoke to the owner via a TV screen who told us to come to the other guest house to pick up our keys (it was a 2 minute walk). We were able to leave our luggage at San Lio while we did this. The process was simple and problem-free, just a bit strange, although we had been told about it in advance by email. We had booked an economy room but the man at check-in said that he had upgraded us to a standard room which had been renovated 2 weeks ago. We didn’t see any other rooms so were unable to compare. The room was basic but sufficient. We had clean towels, shower gel sachets and soap, and there was a flat screen TV on the wall. The bathroom looked like it had been renovated – it was modern with an excellent power shower.
The location of the hotel was central and ideal for sight-seeing – near to lots of restaurants and shops, between the Rialto Bridge and St Mark’s Square. Both were about a 5 minute walk away. It wasn’t overlooking a canal but I think you pay more for that kind of view. Our room overlooked a square which it was noisy (the windows were single glazed) and the curtains were thin, so our night’s sleep was quite interrupted. I imagine it would have been worse if we were visiting during the busy summer season. The other rooms may have been quieter if they were further from the square. We didn’t take the breakfast option at the hotel which was an extra 12 euros. Overall, this hotel was comfortable and excellently located for the main sights of Venice. Given the location, we expected a bit of noise but I wouldn’t recommend if you want peace and quiet.

We were surprised at how nice this place was. The place is not particularly hard to find, but we did struggle just considering that everything is a maze in Venice! When you take the 6.50euro waterbus from the train station to the hostel...get off at Rialto, not Rialto Mercato (which is the stop before). It is very easy from Rialto and they email you a map before your arrival. We just got off at the wrong Rialto stop :) You do check in at another location, but it was very nearby (1 minute walk). Our room was small, but very clean and nice. They even hung our towels over a towel warmer, which made bath time more enjoyable. It was very small, but shower water pressure was good. The location was excellent, near lots of great restaurants and very near the Rialto bridge. We had a great stay, even though we had to walk to a sister hotel to check in.
