Last year my husband finally agreed to let me bring him to Venice for his first time. I booked this luxury accommodation wanting the best for our short stay and something close to the station since he had to leave on an early train.
You really are staying in a palace. The floors and decor are stunning. The breakfast dining area is outdoors in a gorgeous rose garden right on the Grand Canal. You enter the palace through a pretty garden and a grand staircase. Service was a bit stuffy and the booking was a real drag. The bed should have been updated.
We enjoyed our stay but have found a more friendly less expensive spot since.

On the plus side -
The hotel is beautiful, clean and conveniently located. The staff are friendly and helpful. They have air conditioning, which is nice in the hot summer months.

One tip - make sure you have the hotel phone number and an idea of where they are located. It wasn't easy to find upon arrival.

on the minus side -
It is expensive
We stayed in room 201 which was on the small side and had a modern glass (clear not frosted) enclosed bathroom. There was no privacy. In addition the shower stall lacked a door or shower curtain which meant that half the bathroom became splashed when showering. The bath mat was soaked.
It was one of the cheaper rooms, but even at that price, a shower curtain (or door) would have been helpful.
Also the maid staff clean later in the day, thus upon arriving back at the room in mid to late afternoon we usually had to wait until they were done cleaning. Wish they cleaned in the morning so that we could have had unimpeded access to our room before dinner.

Room Tip: unless you like the open bathroom concept avoid 201 and any room like it

We had a truly delightful room, with windows that opened onto a garden with a view of the canal and our own private patio. We had the option of having breakfast at the foot of the garden along the canal or on our private patio. (We had breakfast on our patio the last day and felt the earthquake.) One note - please watch out for the pigeons and do not leave your table unattended unless you are finished with your meal. We booked this on advice from a friend and were thankful that we did. It was well located and the service was good. Easy to find, close to the train station.

Room Tip: Room 106 with patio

On March 14 I made (and had confirmed) reservations at the Ca' Nigra Lagoon Resort for a Classic Junior Suite, overlooking the gardens, for the night of May 17, 2012. At the time of the reservation both a cell phone number and an e-mail address was given in case the hotel needed to get in touch with us. Three days before our trip I requested the exact directions on how to get to the hotel, and received a reply on May 14.

By the time our plane landed and we caught the airport bus to the station and got on the correct vaporetto to the closest stop to the hotel, it was just about 1 p.m. We walked into the courtyard to the delightful scent of roses, so happy to be at the very hotel I had photographed as a "lovely Venice hotel" when we had visited Venice three years before. I had been ill the day before our arrival, and, combined with a very long day of travel, I was just exhausted.

But, it was not to be -- at least, not at the Ca' Nigra Lagoon Resort. We told the young ladies at the desk our name, and they fidgeted around a bit before telling us they were SORRY, but the HOTEL was OVERBOOKED. But, how could that be? Just a couple of days before we had been given directions, so we knew they had our e-mail address -- we had no message or call from them. We wondered how they could not have our reserved room for us -- it wasn't even the 2 p.m. check-in time. This time, the young lady told us it was a mechanical problem with the room. Which story was correct -- overbooked or mechanical problem?? She assured us they had a "wonderful 5 star" replacement hotel for us. I was leery of this, since I had read a few negative reviews where the "overbookees" were sent to sub-standard replacement hotels. I finally agreed to the replacement, only if they had someone carry my two bags to the boat -- telling them that I was going to give them a negative review for their unprofessional handling of the situation.

My story ends well. The hotel they sent us to was indeed a beautiful 5 star hotel -- Ca' Sagredo Hotel, very close to the Ca' d' Oro boat stop. They were so kind and understanding of the situation. Although it was still before the check-in time, once he heard that I was not feeling well, the gentleman at the desk made a call for our room to be readied ASAP. We had a lovely room, overlooking the Grand Canal -- at a hotel MUCH nicer than the "overbooked" hotel. One star for the lovely smelling garden.

First of all, please accept our apologies for this inconvenience.
In this period we have had the America’s Cup and Venice was completely fully booked, everywhere.
By the way, hotel is required, in case of availability failure, to provide to clients a alternative equal o upgraded accommodation hotel at its discretion in the same area, assuring the same cost of the original booking made by the guest.
It is requested to overbooked hotel to pay extra costs the new alternative accommodation may require.
In such occasion, even if a classic junior suite (basic room - garden view) has been reserved, we have chosen for Your accommodation a 5 star hotel, situated on the Grand Canal, assisting You to carry luggage to the main boat stop.
We really had the intention to make Your stay unforgettable, considering the new booked hotel was very expensive, and this bookout has been made at a very high extra cost, that we have paid.
Honestly, we have been surprised to reading such a negative review.
We feel that such “smelling garden” is, instead, a beautiful place where every person, in faith, enjoy the beauty of flowers in a marvellous atmosphere, just close to Grand Canal.
We would also tell You about every wedding event we have had, but maybe You will be able to read something concerning this matter.
It will be a pleasure to assist You in a future visit to our beautiful town.

Having been to Venice many times before I decided to try this amazing hotel
It is an oasis in a frenetic city from the moment you enter the rose and jasmine scented garden entry to the wonderful staff!
Close to the train station and the vaporetti I would stay here again
Breakfast in the beautiful garden was like living a dream !

we thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. it is located on the grand canal within walking distance of piazzale roma and the train station, really. the beauty of the place though is that it is quiet because there are green gardens on three sides, including the side fronting the canal. further, the entrance is located off a quiet town square. you can feel the solitude as soon as you walk in the front entrance into the main courtyard. the room was clean, neat and comfortable. the hotel obviously worked hard to incorporate venician design into the renovated spaces within the hotel and for the most part succeeded, especially in the upper floor common areas. it's a 30 minute walk to san marco square. my only complaint is the shower stall had no door or curtain and the bathroom as a whole was overly designed; it was quite manageable though.

If you're in the mood for a treat, this is the place.

We opted for Ca' Nigra for the second stop on our honeymoon in September, and we'd thoroughly encourage anyone to follow our footsteps. The room was stunning, hotel standards excellent, the place itself has real history and charm, and the staff made us very welcome indeed.

Breakfasting in the garden is a real pleasure in Venice. Anyone who's been there will recognise the paucity of green spaces, so to start the day with espresso, pastries and fruit in the sunshine is stunning - as real treat. Mind you, since Ca' Nigra offers drinks at sunset it's an absolute pleasure to start the evening with something nice watching the boats and gondolas cruise past before heading into the town.

The hotel is superhumanly easy to locate whether you arrive by train or plane - not even five minutes walking from the main station. And it's easy to spot from the bridges or the other side of the Grand Canal too, given the lush garden.

Location-wise it's a ten/fifteen minute wiggle through the Venetian alleyways to San Marco, but within easy immediate striking distance of a few pleasant (and more "local") campi; the staff recommended some great spots to us, not necessarily on the beaten track, but getting out isn't an issue if you're happy to wander and explore.

Get a room with a canalside view - opening the doors to your balcony over the water (spectacular Gran Canal or the smaller/quieter Rio Marin) never gets dull, and be sure to get a boat taxi. The hotel has it's own speedboat undeground picking up spot, which doesn't exactly make for a bad start to the evening.

Already saving to go back for an anniversary...

Room Tip: If you fancy breakfast in your room and can stretch to a junior suite, ask for the one with a little...
