“Just as good second time around”
Reviewed December 21, 2013

We stayed here 5 years ago, and had to re-book for this trip. The hotel is an easy walk from Santa Lucia train station (although as with most of Venice there are lots of bridges to haul your bags up and over!). The hotel can also be reached by ferry for those who can't manage the bridges.

The hotel has a family feel, and the female staff are very friendly, and helpful. We recognised some as having been with the hotel at our last visit. They willingly provide helpful advice on places to see, and where to eat out. As this is a small boutique hotel, you are not just a "number". We were spotted by one of the hotel staff out at a Pizza place they recommended on our previous trip - a place which is popular with locals. Nice.

Allora, this time around we were in a very small room. It was a Double Classic on the first floor reception level. There is apparently a smaller room, but I would hate to imagine fitting into that! For a couple of 6'2" guys, it was a challenge to fit our two cases in and around the furniture so as to not trip over it moving around the room. I probably wouldn't book this particular room again, but really do love the hotel. I recommend a double superior at a minimum for a couple, if not a junior suite.

The rooms and bathrooms are kept spotlessly clean, and well decorated.

Great place. 5 minutes walk from train station. Easy to find in a city where not much is easy to find. Every member of the staff was super nice and knowledgable about the city. Alessia, Maria and Silvia were all super helpful and friendly. The rooms were nice and clean. Breakfast was solid- typical italian breakfast. Coffee, pastry plus some other stuff like cereal and fruit. Great place. Highly recommend it.

In October we took eleven friends to Italy. Our first stop was Venice where we stayed for four nights in Ca’ San Giorgio. Alessia was the perfect hostess finding us wonderful places to eat and booking tickets for either a Vivaldi concert or a night at the opera. We all had a perfect stay. Our bedroom on the second floor was large enough to accommodate everybody for pre-dinner drinks and everyone appreciated the cleanliness and size of the rooms they were staying in. The vaparetto stops were convenient but we were far enough off the busy tourist areas to really enjoy a true Venetian neighbourhood (the night we we happened upon “Tango in the Park Under the Stars” in Campo San Giocomo dell’Orio was absolutely enchanting!). We were even able to help Alessia celebrate a birthday just before we left. The culmination to a wonderful visit.

Silvia, Alessia, Amina and the rest of the team at Ca' San Gorgio make Venice even more beautiful. They know Venice inside out, they bent over backwards to help and they kept an eye out for things we might be interested in. And they helped with our feeble efforts at Italian! We have never known a better combination of knowledge and helpfulness. The place itself is charming, small enough to enable personal sevice all the time and very well located: handy to everything but quiet. And everything works. We stayed two weeks and found it very difficult to tear ourselveds away.

We truly enjoyed our stay at this small hotel. Located close to the bus/train terminal yet in a very quiet street ending on the Canale Grande. We stayed 2 nights - the first night, the heating & warm water did not work in our suite and we were moved to another suite (top floor with small terrace). The rooms are nicely appointed, bathrooms are OK, beds are hit&miss and a bit hard. Same for the pillows. The furnishings have seen better times and a general renovation to fix missing paint, repair dents and replace damaged things, would make this a great hotel. Breakfast is fine unless you stay more than a couple of nights (limited offering, quality is OK). There is a small lobby with books, free tea & coffee and wifi is good through the hotel (10 rooms). We can recommend this hotel. Prices are reasonable. The reception is very personable, friendly and well informed. Thanks !

Room Tip: Top floor suites are great. Views are limited in all rooms. We suggest you forego the ground floor...

Ca San Giorgio is a small hotel in a quiet part of town. The staff are all lovely and very personable/friendly with everybody. The hotel itself is located close to San Stae vaparetto stop on the grand canal.

My wife and I stayed in early November. The room we had was nicely appointed with plenty of space, a large bed, lovely shower room. Breakfast was great for us - with a selection of cereals, breads, meats, cheeses and fruit. And unusually a toaster was available which was marvellous. Interestingly there are no tea making facilities within the room but they do provide free tea and coffee in their breakfast area and shared space for guests to have anytime.

Locally there are plenty of restaurants, a gelateria so it is very convenient for food stops. The location in town is quiet yet it is close to the walkway to the main railway station - which is 15 minutes walk away. But as with any other Hotel in venice - I really do not advise arriving in the dak as the street lighting is quite dim in most places and there is little by way of help to find where you are going and help with suitcases - so be independant and enjoy your walking.

Overall we loved this hotel as the staff were amazing at all times and it was very relaxing.

We spent 3 nights here and really enjoyed it. The hotel is lovely, quaint but well appointed. The location is easy to find from the train station, just follow their helpful directions. A map was proferred right away with all the main points noted and explained. Also suggestions of places to go and how to get there. There are 2 vaporetto stops nearby if you get tired of walking. It is a very nice hotel, just far enough away from the congestion but near enough to enjoy all the sights of this wonderful city.

Room Tip: Maybe request a room on a lower level if you need it...there is no elevator. They did however carry...
