Perfect location for first time visitors to Venice. Blackout curtains would help a bit to cut down sun rays, beds were okay a little too firm. Found the place to be lovely- room overlooked one of the canals. Price was okay. Having breakfast brought to your room was a treat- it is truly a continental in its it fare pay 4 euros extra and you can receive cheese and some ham. Not sure if we would return, not because we were dissatisfied but probably would try to find something near to San Marco or a bit different.

Ideal location and really gives you a feel for old city Venice. We were travelling with two other couples and when we arrived the hotel had mixed up the reservations and couldn't put all of us in the hotel. Two couples were given an apartment about 5 minutes from the hotel. Without consulting us, they put two of the couples with the same last name in the apartment which had one shared kitchen, one shared bathroom, one bedroom, and a living room with a pull out couch. I can understand mixups, but putting two couples in shared accommodations is a gross assumption no hotel should ever make. They said there was no way they could make any other accommodations. Since we were there for only one night we put up with it.

If we had all been in the hotel it would have been a lovely place to stay. Although I don't like the fact that after about 7 p.m. there is no one at the desk to help you until 8 a.m. the next morning.

Room Tip: Even after confirming our reservations by email, it didn't help with the mixup. Ask for the hot...

My boyfriend and I stayed here on a recent trip to Italy. I would highly recommend this hotel. We didn't see a ton of the staff, but he was very friendly when we did see him. One point against the place was that I didn't get a reply back to an e-mail I had sent before the trip, but this was a minor point to me. The room was quite large - the largest we had in Italy (where the rooms tend to be smaller). It was also very clean. There was a television in the room, but we never used it. I wasn't quite sure how to use it (though that was my own limitation as I didn't read the manual - we weren't in the room long enough to bother - I'm sure it was relatively easy). The bathroom was also a good size and very clean. It had a corner shower (common in the hotels we stayed in). Breakfast was very nice. We were given an order form and marked quantities of what we wanted and circled when we wanted our food delivered. We had asked for meusli and also yogurt with fruit and cappuccinos. Along with that, they also sent up toast with different spreads. There were many other options for breakfast; this was just our preference.
Our room was situated towards the back. We didn't have a great view, but we also didn't have a bad view (no canal or anything, though). The room was very quiet at night. Bed was very comfortable.
One thing of note - the hotel is located close to the fish market, which isn't my favorite smell. It can be strong in the morning, but I wasn't able to smell it in the room even with the windows open (only when leaving the hotel and going past the market). We were visiting in late March and the weather was in the 60's/70's.
The location of this hotel is amazing. You're right in the midst of everything, so it is really convenient.

We stayed for a few nights, and the building is in a fantastic location. Our room was spacious and relatively clean, and the excellent window had double glazing and a shutter. Given the difficulties of finding our way around Venice, it was easy enough to find. Breakfast was very limited, the equivalent of dry crackers and jam, but from the reviews this appears to have changed since we stayed there. The shared toilet and shower facilities could have been cleaner and I would have preferred that the room was more secure, although at least the entrance to the building was secure.

We stayed at this hotel in September 2011. We booked it after reading few reviews and were not disapointed. Mind you, it is quite difficult to find it. It is well hidden in tiny streets of Venice. Once you find it, it is not difficult to get back. First impression wasn't that great, as the reception is not in a great state - mouldy due to water soaked walls. But don't let that put you off!! But as soon as you walk upstair to your room, you won't be disapointed. Big size room, ensuite bathrooms. The breakfast is brought straight to your room in the morning.
Fantastic location, just 3 minutes away from the Rialto bridge, and not too busy with tourists. We will definitely be coming back soon. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

I stayed here with my partner on the 10-17 September 2011. Could not have asked for a better location ( just be careful to study directions beforehand). We found it easily accessible, with excellent staff - especially the kind lady who bought us our breakfast each morning. The stayed in contact with us on the day if our travel as we were having difficulty with our flights, eventually arranging to meet us at 1am after a significant delay with no complaints, and helped us retrieve our lost baggage. Some staff have better English than others, and on the whole it's worth trying to pick up some Italian before we go. If you want a room like the pictures, request room 10! We found it lovely light and airy, overlooking a small canal and the fish market - a great point of reference if you're feeling a bit lost! The air conditioning was perfect, and both my partner and myself somehow avoided seeing any Mosquitos at all. It's also worth noting that almost all signs in Venice seemed to point to either st marks square or the rialto bridge - perfect for finding your way back from almost anywhere. We didn't eat at the attached restaurant, as I'm a vegetarian and it wasn't to my taste! For a bargain head across the grand canal and up towards can arpeggio, a lovely array of smaller restaurants, no tourists menus or cover charges! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay here again - complete value for money considering its central location

3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 19, 2011

I stayed at Locanda Poste Vecie for three nights with my partner at the beginning of October 2011. It was somewhat tricky to find, but the man who runs the hotel sent us directions, which made it easier. The location was good as it is a 5-10 minute walk to the Rialto Bridge.

Our room was pretty small and not nearly as pretty as on the photo on their website. We found it quite pricey, considering the room you get. You have breakfast in your room by filling out a card the day before - checking off what you want to have, how much of it and at what time it should be brought, which was nice. Also, the Internet was included.

One thing that made our stay significantly less pleasant was the fact that the air conditioner seemed to be leaking freon and was emitting an awful smell when it was working, so it was impossible to have it on. It was also impossible to have the window open because of mosquitoes. When we brought this to the attention of the man who runs the hotel, he initially tried to convince us that it smelled because we’re in "Venice" (i.e. the smell is coming from outside, although we had just been outside and the air smelled fine!). He later admitted there was a problem with the air conditioner and said he would bring a repair-person the following day. Then for two days when we were leaving to go out he would tell us that the repair-person had already come in and left while we were "sleeping" (even though we clearly knew we weren't, since he knew what time we were having breakfast brought in). On our last day we asked for a discount because of the air conditioner, which he refused to give to us.
