“Nice place, but hard to get to!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 16, 2013

We chose this small bed & breakfast as it was close to the cruise ship terminal. It was very nice to stay in the heart of Venice, but this location has its problems.
Transportation from the Venice airport was very easy via the tourist buses, and drops you off right at Piazza Roma, which is 'only' a 1000 ft. walk from this hotel. We had 4 large suitcases, and it was a struggle (not as young as I used to be!). There is one bridge between Piazza Roma and the hotel, which encompasses 36 steps (18 up and 18 down), and even roller bags were not much help up and down these stairs! Taxi nor water taxi serve this location. Upon arrival about midnight, no one answered the door, and finally called to wake someone up. Nice but small room, and a nice breakfast. I would recommend this hotel, but if you have significant luggage or mobility is an issue, I would find a different place. By the way, the hotel is on the opposite side of the 'street' from what is shown in Google maps!

Room Tip: Only one room is on the ground floor, and there is no elevator to the other rooms.

I agree with all the previous reviews that the location is the selling point for this B&B. Having not been to Venice since childhood (it is an absolute maze!) to be able to be in your room within 5 minutes of arriving at the bus station is wonderful.
Set back in a side street it is quiet - my single room although small was clean and well appointed - breakfast was adequate but could be improved and the coffee excellent.
Staff/Owners very friendly and helpfull - no problem leaving luggage due to late flight
Would recommend and happily return

I made a reservation through booking.com and the price was the best that we could find for 2 adults and a 4yo in Venice. We were coming in on a bus from the airport and going out on a cruise so the location was PERFECT. We got a little lost walking to the hotel, but this was my fault with poor preparation and map reading. The walk was easy with luggage, a tired 4yo, and additional steps getting lost. The staff was very nice. We had requested a larger room for the family and the place was great-- we were in a 2 bedroom "apartment" that was not connected to the main part of the hotel. Only issue with this was that there was no wifi in the room. It was available (slow) in the breakfast room and we had 24h access to this. The room was basic, clean, but dated. It seemed that our dislocated room was quieter than others in the main part of the hotel. One room was just off the breakfast room and I would imagine that was very loud. The hotel is located just off the beaten path so it was quite quiet in terms of street noise. Again, the location was perfect for our needs. There were plenty of places nearby for a late dinner upon arrival and it was about a 30m walk to St. Mark's Square (depending upon how lost you get en route). The breakfast was adequate, a decent start to the day- coffee, tea, yogurt, fruits, small selection of cereal, and some not really appealing pastries… The juices were AMAZING. I generally do not drink juice, but the red orange juice and whatever else they were serving was absolutely wonderful. Again, the staff was friendly and helpful, very pleasant experience. Not sure that it was worth the $$, but if you are staying in Venice I am not sure that you can do better.

Convenient for airport bus, comfortable and in a quiet back street. Staff are honest and very helpful. Train station quite close
Don't eat in Las Ramblas over the street which has cover change, service charge and rip off drinks.

Excellent location if you are on a cruise or need to be near rail or road transport. It's also close to one of the major water bus terminals and the bus station so there are a number of options when travelling from the airport. I can recommend the land shuttle bus as it's quick, very easy and relatively cheap. From memory, I think I was at the hotel 35 minutes from getting on the bus at the airport. The hotel is on a quiet street and has shuttered windows so the room was very peaceful at night.. Room was small but clean with a good amount of storage space. Free WiFi is available in the lobby/breakfast area, but I managed to get it in the room as it was directly above this area. Staff are very helpful with suggestions and directions. Toiletries are very basic, I only got shampoo in my room, (not sure if that was a mistake or the norm) so you may need to have your own or buy some more. Breakfast is also basic but sufficient if you don't generally eat a lot. I would definitely stay again...hopefully soon!.

We researched Venice properties before booking and had stayed at another hotel and this was the best value for money. Venice can be confusing for new arrivals but if when leaving Pizza Roma if you keep Hotel Arlecchino in your sight and head straight towards it and make a right on the first street past Hotel Arlecchino you will find the hotel about 100 meters on the left a quick and easy walk if you do it right the first time. All is clean with a European feel to it. staff very accomodating and friendly, good coffee and an easy walk to everything. Good resturants around the corner. Everything perfect. Great stay.

I stayed at this small hotel two nights pre cruise after finding a review saying it was only one bridge to cross from the Piazzele Roma. At the time, I didn't know what that meant, but I booked it anyway. This is HUGELY important.. when you are lugging your suitcases over the bridge from the bus and don't realize that the bridges are all steps!!The location is amazing, and out of the huge crowds and craziness, but also pretty and steps to everything..

My husband and I had a unfortunate situation while we were there, and the owner was just so amazing in how he did everything he could to fix the situation. I don't think I have ever met anyone who really took such a personal and caring interest in his property. This was really special!

The apartment rooms are clean and quaint and really give you the feel of Venice. We were in a room with a small patio. The beds were comfortable and the breakfast was good...Basic,but all I need in the morning.. Fruit, yogurt, some bread and good coffee.
This would definitely be my first choice for staying in Venice..
