“Wonderful location, wonderful host, wonderful city!”
Reviewed June 8, 2013

Our first time in Venice, we came as a family of four and stayed for 5 nights. Davide set us up in a lovely large room with queen size bed and two twins for our daughters. There was a nice private bathroom with a full shower, separate tub and toilet with bidet. The bedroom was air conditioned with a whisper quiet wall mounted unit that functioned very efficiently. Breakfast was served every morning between 0830 and 1000. Full continental breakfast with toast and jam, yogurt, croissants and sweet buns, fruit cocktail, cold meats, cheese, orange juice, coffee and tea. Davide remembered everyone's beverage choice. Al Palazzetto is located very close to Strada Nova, a Main Street in the Cannaregio district of the city in the northern part of Venice. It was a very short walk or a 2 Euro gondola ride to the fruit and vegetable market and the fish market that took place each morning. It is about a five minute walk to the Rialto Bridge which is the main shopping district and a ten minute walk to the Piazza San Marco where the main historical attractions are - Basilica of San Marco and the Doges' Palace. There was a vaporetto stop (waterbus public transport) on the Grande Canal just across the Strada Nova at the palace Ca' D'Oro The location was very quiet. There was a small canal off the bedroom window but it had very little traffic on it and none in the evening. It was very reasonably priced for a room to sleep four. We would heartily recommend this B&B to anyone who comes to visit Venice.

Room Tip: We took a water taxi from the Marco Polo airport to about 200 meters from the doorstep for 110 Euros...

The small hotel is in a great location, and by Venice standards, are competitively priced. It has free wifi, and the beds are very comfortable. As all Venetian properties, the floors slope, and the rooms are small. The breakfast needs some variety and improvement. The fresh bread is a plus, but canned fruit cocktail will not make up for a lack of fresh fruit. The cereal is lackluster, but the yogurt is very nice. The meat and cheese selection is pretty skimpy, too. Add some fresh fruit from just across the canal, some variety in the cereal choices, and all would be great. All in all, it is a good place.

My husband stayed at Al Palazzetto for 2 nights while in Venice. This B&B was in a great location, just one block off the main street on a quiet canal. We stayed in the room on the bottom floor which was extremely quiet and peaceful. The room was huge and we had a beautiful new bathroom downstairs. Davide and his family were very welcoming. The breakfast in the morning was also delicious and a great way to start the morning. We would definitely come back and stay!

We stayed at this charming B&B for our wedding anniversary, we chose this area as it is away from the main tourist areas but only a 10 min walk to Rialto and 15 min walk to St Marks Square. It has wonderful period furniture and a lovely owner David who was very helpful. We had a lovely large suite, and we slept very well. The breakfast bread basket was excellent and there was a good selection of jams and honey.

Room Tip: There are only 4 rooms, e mail David,as I did, with any requirements and he will let you know which...

My husband and I were looking for an accommodation in the Cannaregio area because it is easy to reach all the main attractions while keeping a nice and quiet atmosphere far from the hustle and bustle of the San Marco or Rialto areas.

Al Palazzetto is a nice and welcoming, charming b&B. The owner lives in the same building on the top floor while the rooms are all located on the same intermediate floor.

We were allocated the nicest room with windows overlooking the canal at the price of 150euros/night in a very high season period (25th April).

Reaching Al Palazzetto is extremely easy, just hop off the vaporetto at Ca' D'Oro and it's a few minutes walk.
The room (the red room) is very large and can accommodate up to 4 persons. Air conditioning is available and good working.
Breakfast is very good and catering for all tastes.

The only downside is that towels are changed every other day and NOT each day and for the range of price I would deem this a negative point, so I would suggest a daily change.

Room Tip: ask for the "red room" with canal view!

My husband and I are in our 30s and we wanted a comfortable and reasonably-priced place to stay in Venice. This B&B met and exceeded expectations. This is not a luxurious, amenity-filled hotel. It is a comfortable, clean, charming and lovely home.

Some of the pros for us:

Location: you feel like you are staying with a friend in a residential area, not a tourist pit. Yet you are right next to all places of interest.

Cleanliness-clean and neat.

Room and bathroom were a good size. We were overjoyed to have such a comfy bathroom with great lighting and water pressure in Europe. And yet, the room was still quaint and had great character.

Service: Owner Davide is amiable and attentive without being overly fussy. On our last day we had to leave quite early and he went out of his way to feed us breakfast earlier than the regular time!

Overall, it was a great experience and we would definitely recommend.

Our family stayed here in May 2012 so this is a late review but still wanted to make one nevertheless. We were very satisfied with the room we stayed in. Our family of 5, all adults, stayed in a room in the attic. The room and bathroom were very spacious. We also had a veranda in the rooftop which only our room has access to. If would have been nice to hang-out there but during our stay, the weather was just too cold for us (we live in a tropical country so we are not used to cold weather). But this should be a plus for those wanting to reserve this room. The host also serves breakfast which was satisfactory.

BTW, the B&B is just walking distance (about 10 mins if I remember it right) from the vaporetto station that goes to the islands (Burano, Murano and Torcello).

My home is to be found in the sestiere di Cannaregio, very close to the Ca' d'Oro palace, in an extremely central, yet peaceful area. The palace where I live dates back to the 1700's and reflects characteristic Venetian taste: period furniture, damask materials, Venetian flooring and with a magnificent facade overlooking a typical Venetian canal, the Rio di Santa Sofia. ... more   less
