“Good hotel in nice location with helpful staff.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 19, 2013

Pros:

A stunning room & classical Venitian decor (former palace). The rooms size and decor (Superior Room) were absolutely stunning, and among the best I have ever encountered in any hotel, anywhere. Upon arriving at the hotel we were given a free upgrade to this 'Superior' room which was fantastic. Generally stunning decor and furniture throughout.

Great location in lovely area. Very close to water bus, this is critically important as this is the primary way of seeing the city (their equivalent of the tube essentially) Easy to find and accessible.

Cons: no lift.

Poor view from room & occassional noise from building work.

TV didn't work for half our 4 day stay. The justification for this was that a previous guest had taken it. Frankly in the context of the amount paid this is unacceptable and clearly this should have been checked and rectified prior to our stay.

The Laundry Service quality is poor: clothes did not fully dry and price supposed to be paid differed from that quoted - generally unclear. It also took over 2 days when I'd asked for them asap.

During a random Venice flash flood staff were not really helping guests (i.e. providing with means of getting in and out of the hotel dryly/safely) and not advising where we could get boots etc. Consequently we were marooned in the hotel for half a day.

Heating and air conditioning did not work in room for entire stay, despite asking staff to help fix the heating when trying to dry some of my clothes.

Overall:

I would reccommend this hotel as the rooms/decor were stunning and it's in a fabulous location in a great area. I cannot overstress the importance of this to our trip as practicality and the room quality are clearly all-important!

The staff (particularly the gentleman of (I think!) Indian origin were generally very helpful. However as noted above there were several incidents where I feel the hotel could have done more and I where I didn't feel that I got full value for money.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking the canal and away from building works.

We were thrilled with our stay at Hotel Ca' Vendramin. We stayed in the superior room and had a beautiful view of the canal surrounding the hotel. We found the hotel easily, getting a water bus to a nearby station and walking about 10 minutes to the hotel.
The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the breakfast was fine (nothing flash but nice).
Thee best parts of the hotel are the rooms (you feel like you are in a castle) and the location.
The location being a little way out of the main tourist area means that you see a side of Venice that some don't see. because we had a week, we walked everywhere and this meant we could see both the tourist side and then the local side of Venice. Our Concierge recommended some wonderful local restaurants where the food was outstanding.
I have included photos of our room. We were thrilled, the only very small issue was that the bathroom vaguely smelt of lagoon??? but really it was just lovely,

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights last weekend. Took an Alilaguna water bus to the second stop on the orange line and followed the hotels directions from there. Easy to find and well located for walking around the city. We had a basic room booked and wished we had upgraded as it was tiny and dark. There was nothing available that night but we were moved the next day to the room next door which was much better. As other people have commented, breakfast was ok, service was friendly but not a lot of choice. The staff on reception, Tilly and Paula were both very helpful. I would recommend but getting the right room would be the difference between a good and a great stay.

Room Tip: Avoid room 102 which is tiny and very hot at night even in April. However room 103 next door is muc...

Pro: location and beauty.
Cons: no lift, old furniture, hot room, breakfast with little choice, no air conditioning in May

The hotel has a perfect position to enjoy Venice right from its heart. The palace used to be a very beautiful patrician family's residence and it still shows this richness. However, the hotel looks quite old without the comfort of more modern peers (or old hotels which underwent some restructuring and modernisation), old furniture (especially bathroom) and no lift.
The room was nice and bigger than expected. Unfortunately it was hot and it was not possible to turn on air conditioning because the central system was off. We had to keep windows open letting many mosquitos inside who had enjoyed the party.
Overall the experience was not bad, the 2 stars valuation is mainly due to the price quality ratio rather than the hotel itself.

What a truly beautiful hotel. Stayed with my husband and 16 year old daughter at Easter. We booked a junior suite which overlooked the courtyard. Even though there was building work going on next door you couldn't hear anything - so quiet. There was always plenty of choice at breakfast. All the staff were so helpful. The hotel is in a great location. Took us 15 minutes to walk to St Marks and 15 minutes to the bus station. Lots of restaurants close to the hotel and all reasonably priced. There's a supermarket 5 minutes away to get any essentials. Would most definitely recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

Stayed at this Hotel for three nights at the end of March. Although there are many, far more expensive Hotels in Venice, we did not think we were scrimping either when we booked this Hotel, however were very disappointed and would not recommend this Hotel. It certainly isn't a 4 star hotel.
When we arrived, the Hotel Manager/Receptionist, Tilly, was very friendly and welcoming and showed us to our room. Unfortunately this was directly behind the reception desk, on the ground floor and next to a staff/storage room. It was tiny, nowhere to put the suitcase other than the floor, which part-blocked the door. You could hear a lot of noise from reception. We asked Tilly if we could move to another room, however he said it was fully booked. We asked a second time and offered to pay for an upgrade but again he said there were no rooms available but assured us that we would not be disturbed by any noises etc. This however was not the case, you could hear staff talking on reception, breakfast being prepared in the morning and each morning an alarm would go off in the storage/staff room next door which would take some time to be switched off. We never intended to spend much time in the hotel room, however were very disappointed with this "4 star" room.
Breakfast was served in a partitioned area of reception. Scrambled eggs. bacon and your usual continental items were served. It was fairly basic standard and on two of our three mornings, they ran out of a number of items.
The Hotel is in a good location, just off a main street with easy access to a Vaporetto stop and the main tourist attractions, however Venice is tiny so I imagine all Hotels are in a good location, we walked everywhere.
Tilly on reception was very friendly throughout our stay, with suggestions of good restaurants, weather updates and the best way to reach the airport, however we were really disappointed with our room and the breakfast. Perhaps if we had stayed in a different room our experience would have been different.

The hotel is very nicely located, in Canareggio which is not in immediate neighbourhood of Piazza San Marco but thats a great benefit - the crowds there are just too much..

The hotel is elegant, on a nice canal, short walk to Grand Canal / vaporetto stop. The room was spotless and nice, overlooking a nice patio. It was modern and not antique as per the hotel pictures - the hotel has two parts, old and modern so make a specific request if you prefer one over the other.

Overall a great place for a short break.
