We booked using booking.com a few days prior and got a great rate. Hotel was well located, clean, and for our purposes - perfect! We had no problem finding it. Cross the Academia Bridge, look 45 degrees to the left, cross the first footbridge across the small canal and walk straight to the gate. BTW - our room was silent, I mean SILENT! Almost creepy :-)

This hotel is incredibly difficult to find once you arrive in Venice. The map will tell you to cross the Academia bridge. DO NOT DO THIS. The hotel is in San Marco and around the bridge down a side street on the San Marco side.
The hotel staff was pretty friendly. One of the front desk clerks didn't seem to want to help at all but there was another one that was very helpful with directions and waterbus and taxi directions.
The breakfast was nothing special: yogurt, some pastries, coffee, and nutella.
The rooms were average but with clean and updated bathrooms. Be aware though that most of the rooms are loft style with two single beds on the ground floor and one queen bed up in the loft. For people with kids this would be ideal but if you're with friends it's a little annoying to be on two different floors.
The internet access was very poor at best and you have to sign in with a username and password every time you turn on your computer or your phone.
The hotel was about a 10 minute walk to San Marco square with a couple of good restaurants within 5 minutes walking distance.
For the price the hotel was a good pick.

the biggest problem was the hotel was next to impossible to find.
very much hidden.i would recommend following the numbers on the address.

the hotel itself was basic but for the price and as a budget traveller done me fine.

for a single room, the rooms was big, with digital tv and toilet and shower.
All very clean.

the staff was friendly and spook excellent english

We went there in November 2012 and the room cost was about 59 Euros including breakfast - for double room with attached bathroom.

I think it was a great value for money (we booked on booking.com on smart deal - they probably charge more in summer). The room was spacious and a spacious bathroom even.

Location is great - we did not bother asking anyone. We got down at Sant Angelo stop and walked to the place with a heavy luggage using Google maps so trouble there. We were advised to get down to Sant Angelo and not Academia which was sensible because of the heavy luggage we had to lug (though closest to Academia, you need to cross a high overbridge and go over to the other side of the canal). And the directions the hotel gave was quite precise too.

Breakfast was included in the tariff and was very adequate. And ofcourse coffee lovers will enjoy the Cappuccino here like any other Italian city.

The hotel also offered a boat ride for couples. While cheaper than gondolas it is still not cheap at 50 Euros (for 2 of us) but we thought it was worth it - it was private unlike water buses and you also get to go through the narrow lanes where you cannot go to by the water bus. The boat ride was 45 mins long and we requested to be dropped off at St Marks Square.

This hotel is a bit too small, with very little common spaces and small rooms, but the staff is professional and gentle, the location is perfect, central and the price affordable. quite decent breakfast and free wi-fi are also plus.

We had booked this hotel <for three days during the first week of October> late in August on what proved to be a busy week for tourists hence the rate was quite high <$520 Euros for three nights>. But this is Venice and one pays for location but would advise shopping around with perhaps booking much earlier! The evening we got in from the train <just LOVED the train travel in both Austria and Italy> were so happy to find how easy it was to access the Vaporetto system from the train station. This was at 9:00 in the evening and our first visit to Venice. Unfortunately the public transit system was on strike that day hence we eventually figured out we needed to take a private water taxi <which was 50 Euros for a short ride>. Were dropped off at the Accademia Bridge which is very close to the hotel. This bridge is absolutely delightful if one doesn't have heavy luggage as it has 42 large steps up and same number down! Finding the hotel was amazingly easy, with good directions, as it is very close to the Bridge and it ISN'T well marked from the outside. The buzzer system worked well, however, and we were warmly greated by the guy at the desk. The service at this hotel was excellent during our stay - friendly at all times and fully conversant in English.
Arriving at our room on the second floor we were a bit taken aback as it was quite cramped and on two levels. Being tired from a long day and looking at the narrow winding staircase up to the bedroom was a bit daunting. This proven quite interesting when navigating down to the bathroom during the night. There was a couch on the main level with a TV at one end - would of been interesting trying to watch something but never did find an English channel so was just as well. While a large closet was available the tight quarters proved interesting at times. The bathroom was immaculate but very small <the shower size still makes me smile> and the included hairdryer wasn't present. We always travel with our trusty dual-voltage one with an adapter plug so no biggie. The WiFi did work fine once one went through the password process on each logon. The room did have two fans in it which we were no doubt due to the absence of air conditioning. While it was about 25C during our visit leaving the main window open at night <which overlooked a neat couryard> proved satisfactory. Would be VERY careful about staying here during a hotter season though as after a long day of walking around one wouldn't want to battle the heat in their room! The breakfast room was 'okay' -- just the basic croissants, yogurt, and coffee. There was a very nice lady running the room though who made fresh cappucino on request.
The restaurant recommended by the hotel <just around the corner at the far end of the square> was a bit of a disappointment. While the food was quite good it was also more expensive than other nearby establishments --- and the 'tourist menu' on the outside wasn't offered in. We showed the 'outside guy who was hustling business' our room 'voucher' as were told we would be offered a free glass of wine. This didn't materialize until after we were leaving and mentioned it to the guy who then offered but was to late. Our fault for going there and a minor irritant!
The location of the hotel is definitely its strongest feature. Only a ten minute walk or so to St. Marks along a most scenic <and marked> route with super shopping along the way. Also only about 10 minutes or so up to Rialto Bridge and a most intriguing section just across the Accademia Bridge. Main Art Gallery and Peggy Guggenheim, etc. there plus many more charming streets and cafes. We also attended a Vivaldi Concert one evening in the Church very close to the hotel which we also thoroughly enjoyed!
While the room didn't have a in-room safe we felt quite secure there with the 24-hr front desk staff and the buzzer system for getting in.
For our return trip we located a Vaporetto stop on the same side of the main canal as the hotel which is only a few minutes <through some interesting 'streets'> away. Believe it was called 'S. Samuel'. Was much easier to access and only one little 'bridge' to navigate over.
We feel that this hotel has some possibilities --- but it does have some issues to work around. We did love Venice and look forward to visiting again.

Room Tip: If you don't need a 'three-person' room try and stick with the two-person all main floor...

Foresteria is perfectly located in the centre of Venice. It is clean, authentically modern and very friendly. Two story bedroom's with four beds was ideal for our family.
The bathroom is large and sparkling clean with great shower. It is probably the best situated B&B in Venice for price and location as you can walk to great restaurants and shows each evening. The boat bus service is right outside the door. Just a word of advice is that some restaurants and bars have an expensive cover charge just for sitting down others don't which is great. We snacked our way around town during the day and then ate a sit down meal in the evening which worked out well and was within in our budget. Buy a water bus ticket as soon as you arrive as you can go every where in Venice for a one off charge.
