The hotel is located near the seashore, and well served by waterbuses and is ten to fifteen minutes to San Marco Square. It was a family run business, the owner and staffs are very friendly, they welcomed us nicely.
The rooms were wide and clean, so were the bathrooms. The AC is in a perfect condition. The breakfast server on a small terrace, and consisted of croissant, nutella, coffee, tea, bread, jam and cheese. There could be many more improvements in the breakfast such as adding fruit, eggs and cereal. The Wi-Fi was excellent in the rooms. However, the bed sheets were very thin and we quickly became cold. There might have been extra blankets, but we did not think to look. The owner prepared a quick guide to go to San Marco Square, with clear instructions of the way. Near the hotel you can find fruits and restaurants.
My wife and kids felt the real atmosphere of Venice where the streets are very narrow, and the canals shown from every bridge and square.

Room Tip: next to the hotel on the seaside there are good restaurants

My partner and I spent 2 nights at the Alloggi Barbaria at the end of June.

The hotel is situated in a very quiet street very close to 2 Vaporeti stops so it’s easy to get to from the station or airport. Upon arrival we were made to feel very welcome and were shown straight to our room and provided with lots of useful information about Venice including a great map of how to get to St Mark’s Square in under 10 minutes.

The room itself was basic but very clean and comfortable and very quiet and the bathroom was the same. The room did have a modern TV with some satellite channels so we could get some English channels not that we had anytime to watch TV. A nice touch was a minibar with items that were very reasonably priced which made a nice change.

Breakfast was served on the terrace in the open air which was lovely and although basic was enjoyable and was served with a pot of fresh coffee.

All of the staff we encountered during our stay were very friendly and helpful and spoke excellent English.

We really enjoyed our stay and would certainly stay here again if we ever go back to Venice.

First of all, let's clear up something. Alloggi Barbaria is a Bed and Breakfast but is called a Hotel because it has to be by Italian law because it has 6 rooms. Holiday accommodation in Italy can only be called Bed and Breakfast if it has 4 or less rooms. They are not pretending to be something they are not.
It is a 2 star establishment and excellent value for money. This is the 2nd time I have stayed here and would not stay anywhere else. The welcome is great, the staff friendly and helpful and it’s in a great location. O.K., it isn’t perfect if you are picky and looking for 5 star quality but I have stayed in a 5 star hotel, part of a big international chain, that was far inferior to the comfort and quality you will find here.
There is a vaporreto stop, Ospedale, about 150 yards away on Fondemente Nova that will transport you around Venice, the islands and Lido, where there is a free beech. As you walk to the stop you can visit the Coop (no I haven’t forgotten the hyphen!) supermarket and buy your supplies for lunch. From here there are beautiful views of the northern part of the Lagoon, including Murano and Burano.
If you want something cheap (for Venice), cheerful, comfortable and in a great location you would be hard put to find somewhere better.

Room Tip: The Wifi failed a couple of times but if you let the management know they will reboot it and you are...

near the ospedale vaporetto station, easy to return to at night. Our room num-2 was clean, Shower working very well and bed confortable, fridge in the room and convenience store near by.
Breakfast was basic, yogourt, bread, cream cheese, croissant in a bag. Friendly environment.
At first you are wondering what you got into, but once in it , everything is sufficient ok for a place to sleep and shower at a good price for Venise

This place is perfect if you want to get away from the large tourist crowds. Right off Fondamente Nove you have easy access to the water taxis and its not hard to find as Venice is like a maze. There isn't much activity near the hotel at night, so you'll need to head further to the city center if you plan on a late dinner/drinks. My only complaint is that the walls are thin and you can easily hear through the walls.

We've stayed in Venice a lot and this hotel ticks the boxes. The owners are incredibly friendly and helpful, the accommodation comfortable, the location excellent for getting vaporettos to the islands and the airport, and the price sensible and not over-inflated (as you often find in Venice). It is far from the tourist-saturated calles of the St Mark's area, but within easy walking distance of it, and very easy to find. We will definitely be returning.

nice little hotel. 5 min walk from the nearest vaporetto stop, approx 10-15 walk to rialto bridge or to san marco plaza. also conveniently near the hospital, as there are numerous signs throughout venice pointing the direction of the hospital - very handy when you get lost among the many streets and canals of venice

rooms were very large as compared to other places we stayed in italy. internet was a bit spotty at times but overall a great experience. the staff were incredibly nice and very helpful. breakfast was very nice...packed up several rolls for a snack later in the day. would definitely go back
