“fantastic location but poor service”
Reviewed November 17, 2009

Ok- first thing- how one would feel about this place depends on what kind of traveler you are. We were on our honey moon but had a very tight budget. This hotel is located in a tiny corner barely 5 mins from St marks and Rialto bridge. it is clean but simple- i.e. a bed, a small TV closet and bathroom. What I hated about this palce was that the street noise that came in till late at night and early morning and the fact that its dark shabby building. It does not have a reception and very hard to reach the person who manages the place. The palce also mentions on thier websites that it books Gondola rides and will pick you up at the station. They do neither. Lucky we had the i-phone to help us navigate the streets, even then it was struggle to find the place with the small map they 'emailed' to us upon requesting pick up. The BF was minimal- the worse we have had in Europe for the price we paid. But the reality is the Venice is expensive! The things I liked about this place was that it was a very good lcoation- in fact perfect walking distance to major attractions and it was safe but over all I think most of Venice seems safe at night due to influx of tourist. I would definately not want to live here again unless they smashed the price.

As a group of 4 girls travelling to Venice for a long weekend we were looking for somewhere central but well priced. Locanda delle Acque was perfect. It wasn't luxurious but was clean and reasonably quiet and was big enough for 4 of us even though it was very well priced. The owner who met us and brought us our breakfast everyday was lovely. All in all it was a fantastic choice for budget hotel in Venice where nothing is cheap!

We only stayed for 1 night but wish we stayed longer. We got the "suite" room which consisted of 2 levels (but had to walk up 4 flights of stairs to get to the suite).. The top level had 1 double bed for our 2 teenagers. Also had a nice balcony with a view of the canal. Breakfast is brought up to the room and we ate out on balcony. Breakfast is the typical contintental you get in Italy (coffee, croissant, cheese). Beds were pull out sofa beds. A bit uncomfortable. Private bath and shower was nice and clean.
Location was perfect. 5 minute walk to St Marks. 5 minutes the other way to Rialto Bridge. The directions to the place were terrible. But in reaility it is quite simple. Take water bus (Vaporetto) to Rialto Bridge stop. Take a right off the boat, then 1st left along Calle Larga Mazzini. Stay straight for about 5 minutes until you pass under a porch. Ca' delle Acque #4991, is on your right. Check out was at 11am but they offered to store our luggage if we wanted to stay in Venice longer which was nice.

We luckily found the B&B right away. The door was locked and no one answered our ring. However, I had a cell phone and the staff picked up the phone right away so we got in to leave our bags till our room was ready. Very nice staff (1 guy does everything). Clean room and bathroom which was very poorly lit. OK breakfast - cappucino, orange juice, and a pre-packaged croissant and toast. AMAZING location in between rialto bridge and san marco square - we just loved the location.

Big Issue - NO AIRCONDITIONING!!! Although we were there in May, it was fairly warm in the room at night. With the windows open, it felt a bit cooler, but there was not much air circulating into the room. However, you can't leave the windows open, because it is loud outside (people walking around most of the night)!! So, I would not stay here again because of that issue.

Also, the photos posted online looked nothing like our room. There is no reception area, just a small desk at the bottom of a staircase.

We ring Carlo from the Airport. He gave us clear instructions how to get to Rialto where he met us and took us to the Hotel
We had the room with the balcony looking over the canal. Perfect...
The B&B is very friendly and central to Rialto and San Marco. Room was lovely and spacious-and hotel in a great location close to all the areas we were wishing to see. Also breakfast every morning was delicious it was lovely having breakfast on the balcony. Would return to Locanda the next time in Venice!
Have already recommended it to any of my friends. Lovely B&B where the staff were so friendly, helpful and accommodating.
A first class experience. We were able to leave our luggage at the hotel which was useful as we on the Easyjet flight from Marco Polo Airport at 21.40.

We booked our hotel with Venice.by
-shortly I want to describe our experience as disaster!
Starting with the wrong directions, ( as well as the wrong adress) nobody answering the phones, looking for hotel and asking everybody for more than 3 hours dragging our lagguage across the city,
paying extra money for being late (actually for the girl to show as finally there the hotel is located,
and after finding one of the places belonging to Locanda delle Acque ( there are 2 or 3 but they never tell you the right adress and when you start complaining they tell you- probably you are confused with the other branch...) nobody appears, except rude immigrant who servs you coffee and bread in the morning.
Nobody appears at check out as well!

But I want to say one more thing: I sent similar review to Vinice.by and rated the experience as bad- and they simply havn't posted it!
So BE Carefull!

I feel myself cheated because later ( It was my first experience in Venice) We found out many nice hotels availiable for even better price!

This is not tourism!

Although it was 6 years ago that we stayed here, it sounds like, from reading some of the reviews, it hasn't changed much. This place was a DUMP. While the location may have been convenient, the stagnant water in the canal below the window was a feasting ground for mosquitos. We were there on our honeymoon and the only bed we had was a pull out sofa bed, with a terribly uncomfortable metal bar conveniently position in our backs. The room had a kitchen sink, but the water did not work. (Not that we needed a kitchen sink...) I don't recall having any cleaning service. The lovely photos you see are of the breakfast room, which is NOT located in the hotel, but was located away from the hotel, on another street.
