We booked to stay here in Venice and was the first "hotel" we opted to stay at during our 4 week trip of Italy. So maybe I was expecting a bit more attention to detail than at the B&B's we had been staying at.
The room we were staying in was huge!! It was accommodated to be used for any handicapped guests (and wheelchair access) and while we did not require it for this reason appreciated the size and space of being able to spread out.
The overall cleanliness of the hotel was very good but in the bathroom where the tiling stops the mould begins - it is out of character with the rest of the room and so in an old building you know there are going to be "damp" issues but this was quite a big issue. The black mould went around the whole bathroom where there was no tiling. The large shower was wonderful but the unusual drainage in the shower to allow wheelchair access was a long strip and maybe not easy for the cleaning staff to clean as there was a build up of "black gunge" around the edge - again not totally disgusting but I know for some people they would find this not acceptable.

The Wi-Fi was broken the entire 4 nights we stayed and I reported it on night one. I understand that it requires a technician to fix it but for the whole time it made booking train tickets and looking up restaurant recommendations difficult. The reception wi-fi was working though so several guests would work from the chair in the reception whilst it was not working through the rest of the hotel.

The breakfast was continental and was fine. The two breakfast waiters were the most friendly in the hotel.

I booked our stay several months earlier and my most disappointing fact was on our last day pulled the booking reservation sheet out to check the cost and noticed that the reservation included a private boat to Murano and vouchers to the casino - whilst it is my fault for not reminding them of this - I was disappointed that the hotel themselves did not provide or remind us upon check-in.

So essentially - beautiful building, great location, staff nice but didn't go out of their way, large room, just wouldn't rave about it and when I look at value for money in comparison to other places I stay would rate as disappointing.

Room Tip: Room 16 great if you want a very large room.

Travelling with my family, we enjoyed our stay very much thanks to Michele and his ever available team. If you booked directly through their website: www.hotelpalazzovitturi.com, you receive a welcome drink per person.

Besides their great service, this hotel has many things to offer such as an included one-way trip to the Murano Island, free passes to enter the Venice Casino, and of course free Alilaguna return tickets to the airport if you came from the Marco Polo airport by Alilaguna, so please keep your tickets if you do.

The rooms in this hotel are very big and comfortable. Breakfast buffet is provided. Since it is a relatively small hotel, there is only one staff available per shift, but despite that, Michele and his team do their best to provide everything for their guests. Throughout my stay, I have admired how hard they work and keep this up everyday. Plus, the reception is open 24 hours.

Overall, I really recommend this hotel because you will definitely get your money's worth. It was a little tricky to find this hotel for the first time: make your way towards Campo Santa Maria Formosa which is a well known square close to San Marco. Hotel Palazzo Vitturi and another hotel will be beside a bank, which is on the same row as a bar and a pharmacy as well.

From the moment you are greeted by Michelle, the Manager, you know you have found a wonderful base in Venice. The welcome speech includes a map of the city with explanations of where the hotel is and how to get to the main attractions.
Parts of the building date from the 13th century and our suite was on the former ‘noble’ floor and some of these rooms still have their original frescos. Our room was tall enough that had it been Tokyo, another floor would have been added in between!
The position of the hotel is ideal as it is in a square which has a few shops and a great fruit stall in the centre but is off the tourist track, so never over crowded. Just five minutes walk will have you at St Marks Square or the Rialto Bridge.
Free wi-fi, a great breakfast and super service from Michelle and his team, I cannot recommend this hotel enough.
TIPS: The hotel does not have it’s own jetty so if you arrive by water taxi you will be dropped the other side of the square. Don’t be dismayed, it is a very short walk around the other side of the church in the centre.
If you ask nicely, you can have your breakfast on the veranda of the Noble floor, which is a treat, although be prepared for the odd tour guide to point at you as some of the architectural features of the Vitturi are historical and highlighted in architectural tours.

Room Tip: Nobel floor has suites

Last week we (my husband, two children (age 7 and 4) and myself) had a wonderful stay at Hotel Palazzo Vitturi in Venice. The hotel staff is friendly and attentive, giving tips where what to visit, the rooms are beautiful, the airco works silently and the location is a good central departure point for visits in all directions.

Room Tip: The junior suite turned out to be ideal for us.

Great stay and very nicely positioned everything is close by including pharmacy, grocery shop and electrical appliances shop, which was handy as we had to buy electrical adapter. If you fancy gondola ride and national museum with some art work from 16th century onwards including furniture this is the place. Hotel staff is great friendly and kind. Nearest water bus stop is Rialto which cost 7 euros per person and it is only 5 minutes walk from the hotel, water taxi is much more dear and it goes up to 75 euros for 4 people + 10 euros for every extra person if more then 4. St Marco Plaza is just around the corner and ezy to find if you follow the signs that are placed on almost each house with arrows pointing towards the direction. Just keep in mind ''Train station" in Italian is Ferrovia if you follow signs to get to there

Room Tip: Very large rooms with large bathrooms and very comfortable beds

Our family of four recently had a wonderful three nights at the Hotel Palazzo Vitturi. Our room was spacious and had more than enough room for a kingsize bed and two single beds. The tall walls and "domed" ceiling made the room feel large and airy and the staircase up to the washroom made it seem even more roomy. The hotel staff were extremely helpful in arranging a complimentary water taxi to Murano as well as calling to have a gondola pick us up within steps of the hotel. We appreciated the front desk staff's fluent English and saw them seamlessly move from language to language as they helped different guests. The location on the Campo Santa Maria Formosa was quiet but very convenient to the Rialto Bridge and to San Marco. It was also close to many restaurants and shopping. We loved it!

We had a great stay in this charming Palazzo. Excellent location for Venice attractions but not heavily touristicated- it's quieter pleasant square of San Maria Formosa. It does have several cafes, so it's easy to get food nearby. Tip- get up at 6 or so and stroll around to San Marco or other tourist hot spots at the time of day when almost no one is up! We had a suite with 4 people and it was very roomy and we loved our beautiful room with the huge windows that opened out into the square (1st floor room), as well as the balcony right outside of our room, where you can have breakfast if you schedule a day in advance. The next breakfast we had right before leaving Venice. The night manager made us espressos and helped us carry our luggage to the water taxi across the way. Superior friendly service, much appreciated at 4 am!
