“Good value, top location”

Just a few yards from the Rialto bridge means you will never have trouble finding it in the maze of Venice as the Rialto is signposted the length and breadth of Venice. St Marks' Square is a short and very pleasant walk from the hotel so all in all, the location could hardly be bettered for general tourist purposes. It is down a rather dark alley which is easy to walk past and not notice the entrance (look for the row of telephones on the wall). Also in this alley is an excellent value restaurant (the one nearer the alley entrance) which serves good food at a reasonable price, for Venice. The staff here are very friendly, the rooms are small but clean and fine as long as you are not planning to spend all day in your room. I would be happy to stay there again.

This hotel has a great position only 5 minutes walk from the Rialto boat station. The two young women who staff the front desk are unfailingly cheerful and helpful and gave advice on my daily tour activities. My room was quite adequate, and looked out on a quiet square. The position is ideal as it is in a quiet side alley but is an easy walk to both St Marks Square or Rialto. The area is rather touristy and better little local restaurants and food shops are perhaps found over on the other side of the Rialto Bridge, but that is an easy walk too. Grateful for free wifi.

Cannot stress enough how great the location is. Just a short walk from the Rialto bridge, so whatever you need (that isn't sightseeing related) like a pharmacy, a place to print your boarding pass you'll easily find at walking distance. Since the vaporetto stop is so close by you can go to Murano and Burano on your own, no need to pay for a tour. The rooms are tiny but very cute! They are kept clean and if you don't travel with a lot of suitcases it's comfortable enough for a short stay. In terms of service: the girl at the front desk was so helpful and friendly. A good option in a city where hotels are absurdly overpriced.

The room was comfortable but small. We found it difficult to store our luggage out of the walkway. WiFi nor breakfast were included, WiFi's signal was shotty. The lady working the desk was charismatic and helpful. Location was good. I'd stay there again.

Just as the owners describe it, Hotel San Salvador is a stone's throw from the Rialto Bridge. This is one of the most central locations in Venice and of the most reasonably priced, for what you get.
The room is more than standard, by European standards and modestly furnished. Our room was in the annex building, which was a 2 minute walk from the front desk.
We arrived by train and rather than taking a vaporetto, we decided to be adventurous by foot, without even a map. The walk, with backpacks, and a casual stroll, is about 15-20 minutes. Every few minutes there are signs that point you to Rialto Bridge.
\we found almost all of Venice to be on the touristy-side, so why not stay in the hub of it.
Better than the location itself, were the two sisters at the front desk who were super friendly and helpful. Their enthusiasm and knowledge should make them the unofficial ambassadors of Venice.

Room Tip: Like the sisters say, do NOT eat anywhere on the Grand Canal of Venice. Big time tourist traps. Inst...

HOW TO GET THERE: If you're on the Vaporetto (water bus through Venice) or Alilaguna (group water taxi from airport and through Venice) or a private water taxi (anywhere), get off at the Rialto Bridge. Of course, they don't drop you off right under the bridge, usually it's a block or two away. Walk toward the bridge along the water front. Hop onto the main road that goes over the bridge. Walk in (away from bridge) one block to the first main intersection. To the right in front of you, you will see the Disney Store. This hotel is in the narrow ally-way to the left (not right) of the Disney Store. At normal walking speed, it is 2 minutes from the Rialto Bridge. Very simple.

This location is the biggest, best feature of the hotel. You can be walking lost anywhere in Venice but there will ALWAYS been signs for the Rialto Bridge to get you back to your hotel! The hotel's location is also perfectly located between the Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco.

Like the rest of Venice, Hotel San Salvador is all about stairs! If you can barely lift your luggage over 5 or 6 steps, then this hotel is definitely not for you, as you'll be carrying it up multiple long flights.

The staff is wonderfully helpful. We got in later in the evening and talked to the older gentleman that works nice. His English isn't extensive, but we got all of our questions answered one way or another, and he recommended a great authentic restaurants on the other side of the Rialto.

The room was basic but clean and comfortable. People have mentioned the different bath towels...I don't know, I actually kind of liked them. They're massive and comfortable.

I did a lot of research trying to find the perfect hotel in Venice, something that offered the most bang for the buck. This is it folks. With the location, clean rooms, and good customer service, this is where you want to stay.

Yes, the rooms are small and the furnishings a little shabby --but clean and well serviced every day. The bed is probably the best I have ever slept on in a hotel. The shower was small, but dependably hot and easily adjustable. The fridge was not full of expensive drinks, thoughtfully leaving room for your own favourites. Television with more chanels than anyone could want, with a good picture. Noise can be a bit of a problem, but this is Venice and close proximity to other buildings makes this almost unavoidable. Even with double galzing and wooden shutters it can be noisy. Bring good earplugs. However, the noise abated at a reasonable hour. Stefania and Ambra were the most helpful hostesses one could wish for with lots of advice during the recent Aqua Alta. They put up with my basic Italian and helped when asked.. About 10-15 minutes from S. Marco, 3 minutes from Rialto. Yes, breakfast would be good but a few steps away are many bars with great coffee and croissants. Would definately go back.
Thank you Stefania an Ambra, you are good ambassadors for Italy!

Room Tip: We were in room 16 and no major problems. I would like to know more about the annex. May be worth...
