As far as traveling on a budget goes you don't start at many hotels... Well, Venice was our exception. The lack of hostels or good hostels led us to choose hotel San Salvador instead.

About a half an hour hike from the train station the hotel is near the Rialto bridge and down an alley next to a Disney store. For the an equivalent price to a private room in a hostel if not cheaper we got a twin private. It was clean, well provisioned and air conditioned. They even had a man art the train station handing out directions, incredibly helpful as Venice van be very disorienting.

Great stay for a budget and the receptionist was lovely and full of tales and useful advice but most importantly willing to go out of her way to help!

Our stay in Venice was made amazing by the hosts here. The sisters were very friendly and helpful - we even slept through our alarm on check out day and we did not hear their phone calls so they had to knock on our door! We thought they would charge us a late check out fee but they were totally cool about it. We felt safe here, you had to buzz to get in the front entrance, which was a nice safety feature. The hotel was a bit hard to find - located down a cute dead end street. The location was absolutely amazing - not even a 5 minute walk to Rialto bridge, and right in the center of shopping and attractions. In order to save money, we walked with our huge bags from the train station (it was doable)! The room was large and clean, and had everything we needed. The decor was a bit tacky - you aren't going to get modern if you stay here, but it was authentic to Venice. The value for the money was fair, and we would stay here again!

This is a fabulous little place, I don't think I'd stay anywhere else when going back to Venice. The two girls who run it, Ambra & Stefania, are just the nicest people you'll ever meet, and they are so helpful, willing to give you any advice (and they're really knowledgeable!). It's in a great location, about a minute away from Rialto, and really easy to find from the Rialto stop. My room was great, very clean, with air con (important in summer, trust me), and a comfortable size. I could even see some water from my room window. Seriously, this is a great place to stay, look no further for your Venice stay.

my husband and i trekked around 4 countries for 1 month for our honeymoon/1-year anniversary. for our anniversary, we chose to stay in venice since my father is venetian and my parents met here. we never usually spend this much per night on a hotel, but since it was a special couple of days we decided to do it....and we are SO HAPPY we did!!!!

this place is beyond lovely. we were greeted so kindly by the wonderful owner and felt so relaxed, safe and excited. upon check in, we were not asked to pay immediately... we were given a map, advice and guidance on how to avoid the real touristy places and where to find the truly venetian owned establishments. then she gave us the keys and let us get settled & showered. around 7pm, a local man takes charge of the front desk and is just as kind and helpful as the owner. because he is there all night, there is no curfew and you are able to get in at any time.

we just love this hotel, it made our stay in venice even more wonderful. we felt so happy to spend our money here instead of giving it to a chain. on the last day, we checked out at 1030am but didn't fly out until 8pm and the owners let us leave our luggage in there all day.......... i can't tell you how grateful we were not to have our backpacks on all day long. i even went back in the afternoon to get directions to a certain place and she kindly looked it up online for me. you can't find this kind of service anywhere anymore, it was just unbelievable.

i just can't say enough about this hotel. it's worth EVERY penny, the rooms are large and clean. the bathroom is 100% clean, no mold... great shower. the bed is comfy and the air conditioner works perfectly. our room was right next to the terrace where you can sit on comfy furniture, have a cigarette, read or just relax. the room also has a refrigerator with a mini bar. it has enough space for you to get your luggage off the floor and 2 very lovely large windows.

we love this hotel and will stay here everytime we visit venice. thank you so much for a lovely experience!!!

Everything about this hotel is wonderful. Just as others have said. Only one thing wasn't good.
It was HOT. The room I had was not comfortable temperature wise. They gave us a fan to accommodate. After 2 nights we changed rooms to the other end and the temperature was better. I loved this place except for the A/C. I would highly recommend this hotel in cooler weather when the A/C is not needed. We were there in July. If you must travel in summer stay some where else.

Room Tip: I wish I could remember the room number. A description of location of hot room.. As you walk up the...

Small but clean room located a block away from the Rialto bridge. Bed was a little bare in terms of comfort, but it worked. Staff was extremely friendly and ready to help in any way possible. Only downside was that my window was over a bar on the next side street. Good American music from all eras, but got old when I was trying to sleep. Headphones and some music were an easy fix to this, and at least you know there is a fun bar close by!

We stayed at this hotel in June 2012 for 4 nights. The staff was very friendly (especially Stefania and Ambra that gave us all the information that we needed at all times).
Great location very near the Rialto Bridge, the hotel is in the island of San Marco, about a 10 minute walk to Piazza San Marco. Rooms are small if you take many pieces of luggage.
If we're lucky to ever go back to Venezia we would stay there again.
