This is our favorite place to stay in Venice. Don't judge a book by it's cover. Behind the facad it's a whole different story. It's small and intimate and in a residential neighborhood. Paulo and Gratziella will make you feel like you belong there. Breakfast sitting along the canal is a ritual not to be missed. A day just can't start much better than that. Also,The pizza on the other side of the canal is some of the best around.

Room Tip: We've stayed several time and always sprang the extra euros for the Jr. Suite. There are only 2...

We stayed at the Hotel Ca' Dogaressa for one night on our European vacation. We thoroughly enjoyed the stay. very comfortable sleep accomodations , and quite modern personal facilities.
A charming and comfortable room with an excellent breakfast (included) outside. (You are given the option of eating outside on inside).
Very pleasant indeed.

We stayed here one night, had a suite with 4 beds, overlooking the canal (though it was on the ground floor so we were unable to keep the windows open and enjoy the view). The suite was really spacious, great value for money, and was in the building next door. The location is very good but not central - its a 2 minute walk from the waterbus stop (a 5 minute ride from P.Le.Roma) and about 15 minutes if you want to catch the waterbus on the more frequented grand canal route, from where it takes about another 15 minutes to reach St Marks. Our room was ready a bit late than normal (3pm) and we had to vacate at 11 sharp (their checkout time) due to another booking but they happily kept our bags till 8pm. Breakfast is ordinary, nothing great but Wifi is free. We enjoyed interacting with the owner, who, in line with our own preference recommended us to avoid the tourist areas and explore other parts of Venice, which we thoroughly enjoyed

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights during our recent trip to Venice. We chose the hotel owing to the good revews on Trip Advisor. We booked the Double french bedroom with shared bathroom. I didn't realise when booking this room that it is not in the actual hotel but in a separate annex (the website does not tell you this on the "rooms and rates" page, it is only when you click the description in the booking engine). We were not blown away during our stay and found the hotel fairly average. While accomodation in Venice is generally more expensive than other European cities, for EUR 95 per night (plus an extra 5 EUR per night for tourist tax), we expected more. Being in the annex we had little to no interaction with the owners other than check-in/out and when we asked for directions to the supermarket, and found that our lack of italian was fairly limiting during these conversations. As with other reviews we had problems with mosquitoes although this is obviously a problem all over Venice and not just in this hotel (this being said our room would have looked more presentable had the squashed mosquitoes at least been cleaned from the walls and curtains before we checked in). Fresh towels and room service were provided daily and hotel had good wifi. Best aspect was that we were able to locate the hotel easily from the train station, which was handy given that Venice can be tricky to navigate at the best of times.

We stayed, based on recommendations on Tripadvisor, for three nights at end May 2013, and were not disappointed. We had room 4 in the main building, first floor on the side of the building. One of us is quite a light sleeper so had requested a quiet room, and room 4 was certainly quiet at night, helped by us closing the double glazed windows and keeping the room cool via the air conditioning. Have seen comments about noise from other rooms but can honestly say that we simply did not hear anything until about 8 a.m, when the staff came in to start the breakfast/cleaning routine.
We found the location to be excellent. Not too far from the station, so OK to roll own cases along (we found later that if we'd crossed the single more modern bridge near the station it would have been better - this bridge, with its shallow steps, allows a trolley case to be dragged rather than carried, and also means two fewer bridges to cross before getting to the Hotel). In a reasonably quiet location but only a short walk past several restaurants and shops to a main area with everything a tourist could need. We did not find it too far from St Marks - we were there to explore and unless you want to pay the prices of hotels nearer St Marks, then Ca' Dogaressa is a good option/base for exploring.
We thought the breakfast was great. Yes, the breakfast room is quite small but you can also take breakfast in your room or at the outside tables overlooking the canal. Breakfast options include: coffee, tea, fruit juice, water, yoghurts, cornflakes/milk, croissants (these are served warm - one chocolate and one apple and are absolutely delicious) butter, jams, marmalade, rolls with cream cheese. Staff come back to the table at least twice during breakfast, offering drink refills and more food.

Room 4 had twin beds (we were also given a rollaway bed in the room because our son might have been able to join us) large wardrobe, bedside tables, dressing table with mirror, wall safe. It was decorated in venetian style, including glass chandelier in murano glass, so the whole thing felt very traditional venetian. The ensuite bathroom was more modern, fully marble tiled and beautifully fitted with large sink/mirror/lights, bidet, toilet, wide shower. A TV had some english channels.

We would definitely stay here again when we return to Venice.

Booked this months in advance so had forgotten what this hotel is supposed to look like. We emailed to advise we'll get in about midnight due to a late night flight in from Prague. We were greeted by possibly the son of the owner who led us down the alleyway and into a small unit/apartment (#1003 to be exact). Very similar to gems118 review on 7/5/2013.

On entering; it was a double bed room with a small bathroom under the stairs which consisted of the toilet/basin/hand held shower - I wasn't much fussed by this as this would be similar to what I've encountered in China and looking at my booking, it was for "Double French bedroom with small bathroom without shower"
I figured this was what I booked and while we stayed, the stay was quite pleasant. The owner pointed out a few places to eat nearby which were all good and breakfast by the canal was an experience.

However, on seeing the lovely rooms now just before writing this review. I feel I've been duped. Our room was nothing like the pictures shown here on TripAdvisor or on the hotel's website.

Perhaps due to us arriving late; the normal standard rooms part of the hotel were all taken and only these annexe apartments were left - however, if this was true, this information was not passed onto us

Great place! Clean rooms! Great service! Friendly staff! Great location! Easy to get to from the train station. Not in the crowded areas, so it was less noisy. Well lit, close to the water taxi. Good restaurants near by. A little pricey, but definitely enjoyed my stay!
