Spent a long weekend in Venice with the boyfriend around Easter 2013, and we both enjoyed our stay at Ca'Dogaressa. I booked this place after reading all the good reviews and it was everything i had hoped for and more!
Paulo the owner made the stay very comfortable and couldn't have been more eager to answer any questions we had. As soon as we arrived we got a free upgrade.
The staff were always friendly and kept the place spotless.
Breakfast in the breakfast room was very sweet and there was a good variety of options.
The rooms themselves were beautifully decorated and spacious- the bathroom had a shower and bath.
This hotel was very Venetian, and not like the main stream basic hotels dotted all over venice.
Navigating from the hotel was very easy, (and I am not great with orientation), with a water bus stop right outside. The walk to the Rialto is around 30 mins at a slow pace- great things to see on the way too.

We spent a romantic vacation with my husband in Venice and were really pleased by the hotel. It has a lot of character with very unique décor with nice and clean rooms. Service was excellent with a great simple breakfast. I would highly recommend this hotel for anyone that wants an affordable and romantic place in Venice !

This hotel is in a great location - just a few hundred meters from the Gugli waterbus stop and within easy walking distance of both the train and bus stations. Just be aware when booking rooms as to whether you will be located in the hotel or down the alley in the annex (rooms labelled French bedrooms) - not that it bothered us, but we ended up staying in the annex where we had to share the small downstairs area and bathroom with one other room/couple. This offer also doesn't include the breakfast. The staff member who checked us in was very friendly and spoke excellent English, however when we wanted to notify reception that we would be checking out very early on the last morning (5:30am), we had a little trouble getting this across to the second gentleman who was manning the front desk at the time. Also not sure if it was the time of year/a regular Venice occurrence, but our room was infested with mosquitoes! This called for a very sleepless and uncomfortable first night, however it was ok the second night after we'd bought some insect repellent and killed about a dozen mozzies.

The décor of the rooms are very unique. There is fabric lining the walls and beautiful glass light fixtures and chandeliers. The room was very quiet and we slept well.

The location is close to the train station. Those with wheeled luggage will have no problem walking from the train station directly to the hotel . The actual hotel entrance is around the corner; we walked right past it the first time. The sidewalk was also flooded when we arrived, perhaps due to the full moon that night.

The manager at the front desk went out of his way to be helpful. Unfortunately we had a medical emergency and had to change our reservation on very short notice. We were not charged the extra night, even though the terms of the reservation said we had to cancel within a longer time period. We were really grateful that we didn't have to pay for the night we cancelled.

We had an early train departure, so we were able to take some yogurt from the breakfast area to our room the night before. This is a great location for early departures since you don't have to take a taxi boat or vaporetto to the train station.

A fantastic little hotel just off the main tourist-strip on Cannaregio. The Hotel has gone to a lot of effort to offer an authentic Venetian experience but at an affordable price. The rooms are well appointed and immaculately clean. We booked the cheapest room available and were not disappointed; the room as a decent size, there was ample storage space, the bathroom was by far the best we had in Italy and there was even a couple of English News Channels available on the TV.
Breakfast was very simple but perfectly adequate and the pastries were very tasty - the coffee was also good. The breakfast area is very small but if it is full then there is the option to take your breakfast in your room or on the canal. The latter would have been lovely but it was raining pretty much the whole time we were in Venice.
The hotel’s location was good, a short walk from the train station and just around the corner from the shops and restaurants. Also very good for transport – there is a waterbus stop just outside the hotel (Guglie), which gets you to Murano (No. 4.2) and also to St Mark’s (No. 4.1/5.1 but via the “back route”). If you want to get a waterbus down the Grand Canal, then you can get the No. 1 from the stops at Ferrovia (train station) or S. Marcuola – both of which are a short walk away.
The hotel staff were great, very helpful and were happy to let us leave our bags under the stairs after check-out. They also offer a 5% discount for cash.
The only negative was the noise from the other rooms. Obviously the hotel is in a very old building and the insulation between rooms isn’t that great, especially from the room above. If you are a light sleeper then I recommend asking for a room on the top floor.
Otherwise, this is a great hotel and if you are on a budget then I doubt you can get more for you money in Venice! Recommended!

We stayed here for 4 nights. The price included a continental breakfast. The hotel was spotlessly clean and looked as though it had been recently refurbished as it was immaculate. Our room was a decent size with plenty of cupboards and storage space and decorated rather grandly in a venician style. It was the first hotel I can ever remember staying in where there were actually enough coat hangers in the wardrobe!! The bathroom was fitted to a high standard and cleaned every day. The hotel staff were friendly and very helpful. It felt like a family run place. The location was perfect as just near the Vaparetto stop for the airport and was located on a canal. You could just stroll out on a morning and wander along the canal and along to the main tourist attractions. There were also plenty of restaurants and cafes around, including a pleasant and cheap little bar just next door to the hotel. Only 2 euros for a huge Disarono! The main thing was the value for momey for this hotel. It cost us less than £40 per night each. We went at the beginning of March which is out of season, but still very cheap. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a canal view

This small hotel has a great atmosphere and is located a bit off the tourist track. It is handy to the main railway station (an easy flat walk as the only bridge has no steps) and right on a canal with water bus service. It is a fairly long walk to some of the main attractions but Venice is fascinating to walk through anyway. The hotel is right on the edge of the Jewish quarter and it is nice to be in a largely residential area rather than just a tourist area. There are some very good Jewish restaurants nearby, especially Gam Gam which is in the same "street". The hotel staff were friendly and helpful and the room comfortable with a good size bathroom. Breakfast was good (continental style) and they made us great coffee. The only issue is the noise from the adjoining room as we could hear their (rather loud) talking.
