This was a great place for us mainly due to its proximity to so many attractions such as the Peggy Guggenheim collection. I spotted Meg Ryan on our way back to Al Teatro! We were well looked after by Eleanora who was always available to help especially with good suggestions for non touristy restaurants. Located on one of Venice's small canals we were serenaded by many gondoliers passing by our window singing classic Italian songs. I would definitely stay here again.

Al Teatro was selected by my mother for a 3 day trip to Venice and we stayed in the Pink Room. I cannot fault her selection.

Our room was large, well appointed, with fantastic views over the canals behind an opera house. Eleanora was a wonderful host, full of excellent suggestions for the few gaps in our itinerary.

The apartment has been in her family for 200 years, had a 500 year old fresco above the dining table, and the building itself is over 700 years old. Having said that, it does not show it's age, even when the Bologna earthquake tremors hit us at 4am! It is less than a 75m walk to Campo San Grigio, 100m to the Grand Canal and the water bus, and about 250m from Piazza San Marco. It is roughly in the middle of the island (east to west) so we found it very easy to walk just about everywhere, so the location is fantastic.

Our room had touch-key entry, two comfortable beds, 3 airy windows over the canals, cable tv (which we barely even had on), a marvelous large carved wardrobe (a family heirloom) and a modern bathroom with excellent water pressure (a godsend for showers after a long days walking).

I would recommend Al Teatro to anyone coming to Venice. I do not hink we could have found a better place to call home while we were there.

Al Teatro really is the perfect combination of charming, quiet, great location and affordable. I always like to stay in the heart of whatever city we're visiting, but that usually comes with a price of some sort. I can't really think of any drawbacks to staying here. The location is perfect for seeing all the hot spots and for wandering the quieter streets.

It's easy to get to. For 5 euro we took the bus from the airport to Piazzale Roma. It took 20 minutes. From there we bought a vaporetto ticket and enjoyed the cruise down the Grand Canal to the Giglio stop. From there it's a 5 minute walk to Al Teatro...and no bridges to cross. All you have to do is watch people dragging luggage over the bridges and you'll be thankful that you don't have to do it!! It was all much easier than I expected and the directions Eleonora gave us were perfect.

We stayed in the pink room which is a beautiful, sunny, corner room. There's no balcony, but it's fun to be in the corner to see the gondolas coming and going. We loved the gondaleer's singing. The bed was comfy with a large, private bath.

We enjoyed talking to Eleonora and the other guests at breakfast. Eleonora gave us all sorts of recommendations and all proved to be great suggestions. She even helped us get a ticket for San Mark;s to bypass the exceedingly long line. We enjoyed the Secret Itinerary Tour of Doge's Palace, but be sure to purchase tickets online before you go, it fills up fast. The b&b is close enough to St. Mark's Square to be able to go first thing in the morning before the lines get too long and to go back at night to see it all lit up and much quieter. Listening to the music and dancing in the square at night was wonderful.

We can't recommend Al Teatro enough! It made a wonderful stay even more wonderful!

Room tip: I don't think there's a bad room!

We loved Venice and the 3 nights we stayed at Eleonora's B&B is one of the reasons. The location of the B&B is wonderful: close to the vaporetto stop, short, easy walk to the B&B, close to the sights. Eleonora goes out of her way to make you feel at home and generously provides wonderful suggestions of places to eat and visit. We had trouble with our iPad accessing the WiFi (not free, but very reasonable) and she and her husband helped. We also enjoyed meeting the other guests over breakfast and exchanging where we went and our plans for the day. The room, Amber, was the best we had during our 2 weeks in Italy. The balcony has room to sit and you can see and hear the singing from the gondolas.Very romantic, only in Venice; strongly recommend it. The room was cleaned daily and immaculate.

Room tip: Loved the Amber room, balcony overlooks the canals. Enough space on the balcony to place chair and sit and watch and listing to the gondolas. Did not see any other rooms.

We stayed at Al Teatro B&B for 5 nights. Venice was the last stop for us on a 2 week Italian vacation. I can not begin to say enough good things about our stay here.

We stayed in the Amber Room - a very nicely sized room with king size bed, large private bath and a small, but adequate balcony/terrace overlooking the canal. The bed was very comfortable, the room, and the entire B&B, were immaculate.

Eleanora, the owner/proprietor, could not have been a better hostess. She was always very quick to respond to emails. She provided explicit instructions on how to reach the B&B from the train station, which could not have been easier. Every morning, while sitting at breakfast, she asked us, and the other guests if we needed any assistance with directions, recommendations, or any other way she could help, with what we wanted to do in or around Venice that day. Upon our arrival, she provided us a map of Venice, and marked where the B&B was located, and then marked on the map any other points of interest, restaurants, etc that she recommended, directions for vaporetto use, and on and on.

Breakfast was typical European style breakfast with a variety of cereals, yogurts, bread/pastries, meat and cheese, coffee, tea, juice, milk. There's no excuse to leave the breakfast table hungry.

The location of the property is PERFECT. A short walk to Piazza San Marco, but far enough away that it was quiet. A slightly longer walk in the other direction gets you to either the Accademia or the Rialto bridge and market. It is a very short walk (approximately 3 minutes) from the Giglio vaporetto stop, with no bridges to cross.

The canal below our balcony was heavily trafficked by gondolas. It was lovely to have a bit of time in the afternoon/evening, open the windows and listen to the gondolas float by with their musicians and singers aboard.

It never felt as though we were staying at a B&B, but rather staying with a friend. We definitely hope to return to Venice one day, and will look no further than the Al Teatro B&B for our accomodations.
