“Fantastic and friendly meal”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 25, 2013 via mobile

We were eleven people and made an impromptu reservation on December 25th for dinner. Alvessi accommodated us all, recommended a series of delicious plates and we were utterly satisfied. We had two different interesting reds with the meal and a couple of very nice desserts. Truly, a fantastic Venetian experience.

“Allora”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2013 via mobile

We loved this place, went there 3 times in four days. It's very cosy, the food caters for all tastes, well no, only for people who care a lot about quality food. We are fuzzy eaters, vegetarian, low carb, unusual foods. Tortellini with pear and sage were my friends favourite. I, temporary carnivore, tried the sepia(cuttlefish), as well as a soup to keep Black Plague away- castrated mutton and cabbage. Desserts, wine, antipasti. All excellent.

“Wonderful homecooked fish set menu”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 21, 2013

We were staying opposite so dropped in here every evening for an Aperol Spritz. One evening we ate here and had the fish set menu - very unusual and absolutley delicious. The chef is a master and it reall feels like a family restaurant. We liked the fact that you can see into the kitchen from the street.
Its popular so maybe reserve a table.

“Unpretentious atmosphere, very good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2013

I went in for a spritz (aperitivo), liked the ambiance, stayed for dinner. The young staff was welcoming, but then again I am originally for a town nearby so not exactly a standard tourist.
I had a two courses meal and enjoyed both of them. Some of the details clearly showed the care in the choice of ingredients and in preparing the food.
As I travelled alone, I also appreciated the choice of books in the bar that you can peruse while you wait.
Some of these historic "osteria" have become very pretentious, these people seem to have kept their feet on the ground.

“Pleasant Restaurant Off the Beaten Path”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 6, 2013 via mobile

We happened upon this charming osteria, off the beaten path, on our first night in Venice. We arrived at 7:00 and were politely told the kitchen didn't open until 7:30, but we were welcome to sit and order a drink. Before we ordered, we were presented with complimentary aperitifs of pomegranate and pear juices and prosecco. Our server took our order before 7:30, which was nice. We ordered the seafood fixed menu, which included octopus, cuttlefish, a pasta with mussels, then grilled sardines. Accompanied by polenta and vegetables. Everything was well-prepared, tasty and cheerfully served (in competent and polite English). Definitely worth a visit.
